Just an update on where we are going.

We had forgot that this is one of the first ccps that we found about 5 years ago and it put us off them for all that time and it's trying again

Castelnaudery is one of our favourite CCP's Charlie!

I can't understand how it took your money and then wouldn't let you in. We always follow the same procedure at them all....

Go up to barrier,

Swipe your 'Pass' Etapes' card.

Barrier goes up and let's you in.

Before leaving in the morning, open CCP App, check your balance to make sure you have funds to pay for the night, top up if necessary.

Drive up to barrier to leave, swipe card and out you go.

Anyone do it a different way?

Just mulling it over ....
I'm thinking you have to have some credit on your account before it let's you in??

Just checked the app and we have stayed at Castelnaudery 6 times (y)

That's exactly what we do but put the money in as we go along when we get there, but as Mickey1 says they have been having trouble with the computer, and this is the second time they wouldn't let us in there although the last time was about 5 years ago.

Mixed day today, been to Carcassonne this morning , all very good then made for castlenaudre ccp, the machine took the money then said it was full and wouldn't let us in,so we motored on towards touloose till we found a p4n here in a very old village square, brilliant and free with a bar open and a Boulanger at 7 in the morning.
It is here.View attachment 667897
You only pay when you leave, just showing it the card to get in doesn't cost you anything at that time, even if the barrier had lifted up. This bill is worked out when you depart.

Not used one yet. Have the card and credit on it but so far found some brilliant low cost sites that have suited us.

Mostly on edge of a town.

Currently at Langres lovely views on the towns ramparts.

But glad I have the CCP system in reserve. Sounds for. What you’ve experienced they are becoming a force to be reconned with. And pretty good value for money too.

Where we are tonight is a cracker, right in the village square and apparently they have music festivals here various times of the year ,all quiet now everyone gone home, no filling or emptying obviously but cafe and Boulanger about ten yards from van.
But it's a shame as in other towns and villages that there is evidence of loads of little business that have gone.

If anyone is thinking of coming here, take no notice of the narrow streets thing on p4n, they are plenty wide enough.

Woke up this morning to the sound of vans ,what do you think, they are only setting a market up in the building in the square, brilliant little place this is and you wouldn't even know it was here while travelling on the road we were on, thanks to p4n again (y) (y)

It's a bit bizarre here now, there are far more sellers than customers, we have been and bought a few bits of food, but it must get busier soon.

We have bought something they say you can't get in France, bacon off a meat van, been back to the van and had it for breakfast, it was so good we have been and got some more, this place just gets better, huge chateaux that you can walk round all free, the lady that has the cafe says she came from Austria 13 years ago and never left.

Been to blaye today, what a place ruined, this new Aire to far for me to walk into town, and it was absolutely rammed, so turned round got park4night up we are now on a free France passion although we are not now in it the old bloke isn't bothered, about a mile out on the bordoux road.
We have been talking to him for about an hour and bought a couple of bottles of very good wine, six euros a bottle. (y) (y)
We will drive in tomorrow morning and park on the old Aire for the market.

We stopped in the new one in May very impressed with it, could have stayed at the Chateau one opposite for free but only space left was in shade we wanted sunshine. I thought it was only a short walk to town, same distance as the Chateau Aire.

Many years ago we stayed on the Municipal site in the Citadel at Blaye, it was a bit tight going in through the wall  but it was a lovely little site. The old aire had recently flooded and was closed.

The site was open in May but someone on here reported its now been closed.

All this change hey, next thing will be CCP taking over then where will we be🤣🤣 still never mind you paid €12 plus fuel for something that would have been €6 and right in town plus the wine would have been a €1 a bottle in a supermarket but hey ho😉

Agreed is this the start of the end I hope not

It’ll end up like the CAMC….

I have seen it for myself now, bloody unbelievable, a couple just drew up in a fancy motorhome , messed about with the machine a bit then backed back, this site has taps that you have to show your card to get any water, so what did they do ? Brought their cassette in, emptyed it, which you can do without a card then shoved it up to all three taps trying to get water to wash it , obviously they didn't get any, and off they went :( :( even I can't believe it.
Never understood numpties that do that. Surely they have their own grey water to rinse cassette if required. But let's face it unless you're going home to not use the cassette for weeks why do folk rinse it out? Pointless

True enough but the aire looked full to me, there was a guy there trying to get in but was ages and still don't know if he did as we turned round and left, the chateau was definitely full, never seen so many vans and we are parked here with just one other in a field in the country, water and emptying provided.
Blaye has always been one of our main stops, with the old Aire right on the market, but it will maybe be off now.
The chateau provide transport so it can't be that close to walk.

We stayed at the chateau in 2019 and from memory it was 10 minutes or so to walk, the old Airecwas taken over by a fair when we were there. There is a nice one over the river you can use the ferry as a foot passenger to get over but more costly. I remember the market there was pretty good.

What's the weather like there, turning a bit chilly in Northern Spain now so looking for options in France.

We are at the market now on the old Aire, you can park from 9 in a morning to 7 at night for three euros, there is just us and a car with a tent on top, it was a bit misty earlier but full sun and blue sky now.

How do parking fees apply to the French?
We are on here and as soon as we got here paid the three euros with being used to getting a fine after ten minutes in England, but this car on here hasn't got a ticket and a french van has just rolled up ,they just got out and walked straight past the machine with out a glance, and we have seen this many times especially at gravelines no one seems to pay, is there no such things as parking fines in France.?

Maybe they get the first hour free like some car parks in the UK, or they know the traffic wardens :giggle:
