John’s cross

Watch out James your Old Man is trying to stick his nose into YOUR business. :gum:
😂😂 don’t worry I do value his opinion he does seem to know what he’s on about in this industry don't you agree.. not the name though fresh start but with old and new customers however would be grest 👍🏻

Thanks JimJams, that's helpful and reassuring. Any chance of another motorhome company taking over the site?

Recently when looking for a new motorhome I made quite a few on-line enquiries and John's Cross was the only reply that I got. The others so arrogant that they could currently sell without trying. So sad.

Don`t know the full story.... But...

As it was a well respected business... could you not approach the owner and ask if you could take over the premises..

And just change the name...??

I think once the process is done we will have to see what her intentions are with the property. Obviously price comes into the fracture..

think we will have to see..

JimJams Used your service since I we bought our motorhome. Our 200 mile journey was worth it as finding someone we could trust to do a great job is rare. Sad to hear of the closure and can’t wait until you “rise from the ashes”.

Aha! Phoenix Motorhome Services is born!:giggle:

As a positive note I am actually in the process of starting my own dealership within the near proximity of johns cross where of course we will be welcoming with open arms all my existing and new customers. So watch this space ☺️

I as I’m sure the whole of johns cross will like to thank our customers for the last years and your kind feedback and comment
Good luck with your new business.

How about "Effing Good Motorhome Sales and Service"?

And move nearer Kent...
Cuh! They couldn't been much nearer previously. I wouldn't have hesitated to do 60 or 70 miles for their excellent service, probably further for something really critical/important.

……my first thought was the asset strippers who bought BL for a tenner…… very unfortunate as it sounds a good name

As a designer of many years I’d avoid using Phoenix in any business name. people naturally assume it’s someone who has gone bust previously and to be honest, every business I have dealt with called that has gone bust!
personally, if you use John’s Cross…etc as a name, it gives a location and sounds professional

I agree.

It was an attempt at humour.

Perhaps the business might be put up for sale?
and if its too pricey for you,im sure theirs plenty on here who have “spare”cash for a share in a good business?

I haven’t read the entire thread but, if the original business went into solvent liquidation, i.e. its assets exceeded its liabilities, then if there is a liquidator, the name will be an asset available to be bought. if Jimjams is thinking of starting a similar business, there is clearly goodwill in the name possibly worth having. Just a thought.

We do not know yet why the business has 'terminated' and why.

Has somebody got control of the business and decided to 'shut-up-shop'? Has the lease of the premises been terminated?

I suspect that there is a lot more behind the closure than we know.

Anyway that does not prevent James starting a new venture at a separate site.

Geoff

If you read from the start it says quite clearly why the business closed.
The first post refers to liquidation (doesn’t specify solvent or insolvent liquidation). Post #34 makes clear that it wasn’t insolvent.

(Pure speculation mode) Could it be that the value of the site/property far exceeds the value of the business? (/pure speculation mode)
