Its not Motorhomes I dislike its the people contained within them.

what a shame.. we spend 3 months there in 2006 - 2007 .. and had a great time.. nice pitch with some lovely Geraman neighbours we become very friendly with, just a pity the the site management weren't prepared to do anything this.. can you not be moved to the No Dogs pitches area ?
We had great neighbours too, also German who we still keep in touch with. Thing is Jim we also have a dog. If your familiar with the site we had pitch Z53 right opposite the toilet /shower area.People would leave their dogs tied up on our pitch go and do their business ,meanwhile their dogs would relieve themselves whilst waiting for their owners.

totally unacceptable and fully understand.. that would be close were we were pitched.. we were about 3 or 4 pitches away from the block so never bothered with dogs .. we were in Calle P .. that's our RV and my daughter on the road

Kids don’t own Motorhomes, nothing to do with them it’s mine and your generation (if your older than me, am 52) seen many of the older generation let there dog shit everwhere and walk away, apparently rules don’t apply to them because there old(y)
But these people were kids once,,,,,Lack of discipline in childhood reflects in later life,,,BUSBY,,

I'm quite happy to stay in the UK on official sites with rules but I will let you guys travel to Spain and France where the grass is greener (once you scrape the poo off the top).(y)

None in England then ??? BUSBY,,

None at all. Not seen any. Nope not me. I've spent my entire life abroad so I'm quite happy to stay in this fantastic country of ours for my MoHo adventures.

Can't always blame the youth of today as they were doing that when I was young 35 years ago, there are ancient Egyptian texts that complain about their sons riotous behaviur, getting drunk and out all night.
Everyone grows older, some good some bad.
There will always be scummy people in every age group who don't think about other's.
In our area fly tipping is a big nuiance, when caught the people are mid aged, woman leaves dog shit in my bin which smells she when confronted was 40.
It's not just this generation but every age group.
As society grows the anti social people are more noticed, one loadmouth drunk in a pub of 15 people is tolerated, now with increased population it's 3 in 45 people.
Seeing some messages on this board makes me cringe.
Someone saying they should tattoo illegal immigrants and shoot them if they come back!! Other unpleasant statements too.
Speeches by Farrage and Moog give rise to this sort of thinking and make it acceptable to put it out on a message board.
The world is becoming so self centred and selfish, I know brexit had many levels but am sure a lot of people voted for 'Me' not what is best for everyone, it's up to voters conscience to decide what they voted for, I know there were good reasons both side, also some very nasty reasons too.
I would like to live a happy life, friends with people I meet, if I can make then happier I will be too for that, like to help if they are in trouble and down on their luck. We all share this place so it would be nice if we treated it well.
Being a realist I know this dream won't happen but would be nice.

This one issue i find difficult to defend ,we have 2 Yorkies and we take them for a walk every day and the amount of poo that is littered all over the place is appalling. I always bag ours up and take it home and put it in the bin. I must admit the mentality of people who bag up when anyone is watching then throw the bag away when not. This for me is a worse crime then doing nothing. The poo in plastic bag will sit there forever. The Council have actually removed some of the poo bins probable to save money on collections. When approached by myself to ask questions regarding removal of the bins i was told they had still left some in place. It surprises myself that they think people who could not care less, who stand next to a dog having a poo ,would pick up and walk hundreds of yards to put it in a bin .I feel it should be made a criminal offence not to pick up with a first offence of £200 fine and doubled there on after that, taken to court and named and shamed in the local papers Get some wardens and pay them out of the fines dealt with correctly the problem would soon start sort itself out.I do not think it is all older people that are the culprits i think it has almost got to be the norm by anyone .I also notice more and more people with disability scooter taking dog on leads with absolutely no intention of picking up. My opinion may be a bit harsh but this issue needs to be dealt with . These people do not take into consideration our children, grandchildren and other members of the public so make them pay.

Fully agree,,,Most people around me don't take their dogs for a walk,,they take them for a poo,,,the minute the poor thing has done its business its home time...Always plenty of poo at the start of a footpath/bridleway but never see any a mile or two on..When we had dogs it was two three plus mile walks twice every day,,,not just when the weather was good..They all lived long healthy lives,,,,BUSBY,,

And the idiots who hang bags of dog poo in the trees! Do they think there’s a dog poo fairy that comes round collecting them? Will never understand that!

Crickey, Jands, how the heck did we manage to get Brexit written into the argument.

I certainly wasn't expecting to see the 'B' word in this thread.

Cheers,

Andrew

Why do you blame the HGV drivers I was one for 25 years never never never saw a driver do sutch a thing if you watch they stop at services to go, if you see a HGV drver do it please take a photo to prove what you say do not assume, that makes you a bad person,

This thread is making me so sad,can we have just recently bought our first Motor home, have not taken it abroad as yet, so have not experienced staying on an Aire, or foreign campsite. I just hope that I can control my reaction when, and if, I come across this type or any inconsiderate behaviour. Trouble is when you approach someone to POLITELY point out the error of their ways, rather than be apologetic for their actions, they become defensive and rude, as they, and I, know, other than being apologetic they really dont have any defence, they simply either dont care, as they presume others do as they do, but would be the first to react when something similar is done to them.
Good modern life example of this reaction would be, how far do you let someone elses, uncontrolled kids go in annoying you? before you take it up with the parent, and what reaction do you expect?, its a hard decision to make, and I know sometimes I hope there is someone to take on the task before me.
As others have said, its not just the camping fraternity, you see it, experience it, every time you go into a public place.
As Tam says, people really do suck in all walks of life and in all cultures, and it will probably continue to decline unfortunately.
Might have to consider camping out on my drive, except the neighbours are already peeved at me parking our new MH on OUR drive,"Bit of an eyesore was mentioned" its not affecting them in any way other than its there, otherwise we would have made another arrangement.
Honestly, Life!, hold the bus, let me off!

Hgv drivers do leave a mess but it’s not all them. Not getting in it’s all the foreigners fault, but I have seeds them dumping bags of rubbish etc out of their cab in lay-bys. Trouble is they can be parked up by their boss for days while waiting for a load. There are not paid parking money or choose to save it to boost their wages, but livid in a lay-by without facilities leads to a mess.

We walked passed our local primary school yesterday during play time. There was total silence and stillness. The teachers and the TA's had their hands up and the children responded accordingly. Very impressive. I commended them in an email and got a lovely thanks back. Praise where praise is due.

That's sadly a big part of the problem , people generally never welcome you giving them advice or telling them not to do something.
That aire i just left in murcia was getting crowded so I moved this morning , it didn't have allocated bays which encorougr the selfish to deliberately space their vans out so they could leave bikes and chairs etc out.

Each row could easily accommodate 5 large vans but most left gaps big enough to leave their stuff out but small enough not to let a van get in between which resulted last night in 2 brit vans parking accross 5 disabled bays each.
On my way back from the bins I said hello to one of them and pointed out that no one had parked in those disabled bays over the 3 days I'd been there and that there were spaces scattered about but they might struggle to find 2 of them together.

He just shrugged and said nah I'm just gonna leave it here ...theres no one using the disabled bays anyway.

I just walked away and left them to it ....no point arguing with him ....but that's why it gets spoiled.

But then I also saw 2 local youths pull up in cars late last night park next to each other chatting through windows then before they drove of dump their McDonald's bags and cups out the window. ....the bin was in full view less than 10 feet away from where they parked.

I watched 4 different people from motorhomes walk past that rubbish this morning before I lifted it and put it in the bin with my own rubbish.

When I was emptying my grey before leaving , I watched a French guy spill black waste all over the ground next to the disposal because he didn't aim it correctly. ..which happens ....but he just grumbled loudly and walked off and left it.

So again when I emptied mine I had to fill a bucket and throw it over the mess he had left to wash it over to the grey drain ....only thing I could do as I certainly wasn't lifting it off the ground.

Sorry about using the B word but it has been the only chance for people to express there true feelings and how they hope the future will go.

No point in telling people how they should behave as they think they are ok and not causing a problem, always an excuse for anti social behaviour or else they would realise what they were doing was wrong, its a different set of values and attitudes to what most people have.
Treat everyone with the respect you would like to be treated with.

This kind of behaviour winds me up so much

It's the same as the idiot dog walkers that think it's okay to leave dog mess all over the place. Bugs the hell out of me and gives the rest of us a bad name.

Not all bad though.

A few years ago I was wildcamping and there was this beaten up self-build with Swedish plates (I think) a few spots away from me. I saw the driver of this van wondering around a few times picking up others rubbish. It was strange to watch, but inspiring :)

I now carry one of those picker upper things (pre-coffee tech term :D) and take it out with me (along with a bag) when I take the dog out. It's no real effort to fill a bag with rubbish while wandering.

I wonder how many other van owners have been inspired by that guy? I'll bet I'm not the only one.
I saw a post on an FB site asking us all to pick up just three pieces of litter, if we all did that it would make a big difference.

Who already pays for parking facilities for hgv parking ?
The road fund licence covers everything to do with the road infrastructure.
As I said in Britain we pay enough tax to cover all these things.

It just doesn't get used correctly.

I don't care about the excuse arguments folk come up with in defence of it.
The UK is a heavy taxed country they misuse that tax it's that simple ....and all the bolloxs they talk to justify it is crap.

I agree we waste money, I dread to think how much money we have wasted getting involved in in Iraq, Afghanistan etc. How many schools, hospitals, or roads would that have got us. But back to reality if you want something in the uk you have to pay and nobody wants to pay for parking.

I don't think that European HGV drivers contribute to our road infrastructure. but are happy to crap in laybys and leave bottles full of piss for someone else to clean up. because they are too tight to stay at truck stops
