It's autumn in Spain, we're on the road again

I hope your sight improves and the infection goes away, Martin.
Regarding the roof vent, you need to change just the glass or the whole thing?
...or a roof vent it's not the same thing as a normal skylight?
Probably you've already seen it, but is this maybe what you're looking for?

Good morning my friend...that's exactly what we need....Thankyou...I did look at this site but couldn't open it.....but what you have sent opens for me...
Also thankyou for your kind words regarding my eye sight....new glasses may help me avoid other vehicles and people..😀
Have a nice day..😃🇪🇦🚴🏿🚴🏿

Enjoy your trip out, hope everything functions as planned! I should have been at El Berro by now but I've delayed setting off until the beginning of February due to family stuff.

I hope the family stuff isn't too traumatic and you get away soon.

Well, what can I say. We pulled into the motorhome area at Casas Nuevas and, before we'd set the van up another van pulled in. Friends of ours from years ago, followed by more friends of ours from the same number of years ago. None of us could believe it. We all had some lunch and then we took them on a short walk. We've had quite a bit to catch up on.

They, incidentally, are funsters Pikeman and walkinthepark and great company. Tomorrow we're going riding together.

Absolutely blown away when 4 friends pulled into Camperstop behind us....😃🚴🏿🚴🏿🚴🏿🚴🏿🚴🏿🚴🏿

Is this to displace the air inside the cylinder Lenny?
That has been achieved successfully before I filled up...can you suggest another reason please...😃
I assume so, its what I was told by Alugas, they should know.

Cheers Lenny...fully understand..... amazing the difference replacing the two Gaslow heavyweights with just one lightweight re-fillable and a Repsol K6......😃🇪🇦

Hi Lenny, I was aware that the 80% shut off might fail in rare cases on the first fill or the air might get trapped above the LPG...
Knowing this I did two things...prior to first fill, I purged the compressed air from the cylinder...then when I went for first fill I calculated what 80% of the cylinder contents would be....I actually told the attendant....the cylinder filled and exactly at 80% the pump stopped... didn't even reduce the flow and continue flowing....I then paid and left the gas station and parked remotely...I checked for leaks with soapy water and fired up all appliances to purge any residue air...all went well, the system was ready to roll...
A couple of minor leaks were found two days later...this was corrected by replacing the O rings and using Liquid PTFE in the threads...
I suppose being a Retired Fire Officer and a Petroleum Inspection Officer, I needed to get this spot on, as we all know...this stuff is quite dangerous...your advice and concerns inspires...Thanks...I always listen and act as I see fit...😀🇪🇦🚴🏿

..I checked for leaks with soapy water
I'm going to have to nit pick, you should know better with your previous profession. You shouldn't use soapy water it can cause corrosion on the fittings. I used my gas sniffer after I changed mine last year.

You bugger....actually I used non corrosive gas leak leak checker...that the fitters use here in Spain...it's called Butanol Leakos Detections...BLD........
I was never a gas fitter but an inspector of Major Gas installations, petrol stations and such like...not the domestic stuff....never got to see what went on in the installation process...but would have to power to deny a Petroleum Licence for bad installations....not mine..🤔😃No go and have a coffee and leave me alone....😀😀🚴🏿🚴🏿🚴🏿🚴🏿🚴🏿🚴🏿 I've got to get 4 Brit tourists out and back in a 40km eBike ride....such stress...Have a nice day buddy..😉🇪🇦

Well you did say you used soapy water. 🤣

We had a brilliant morning out on the bikes. Good weather, brilliant company, no mishaps.

Martin had planned a road ride because one of the Sue's only has a hybrid bike with skinny tyres. The ride took us through some lovely areas and we were treated to the first fully blooming terraces of almonds.

Now ... I heard this and I thought of Peavy 😄. Terry said that his saddle was playing havoc with his plumbing bumps 🤣. I don't think it can be translated easily into Spanish 🤣

What a lovely morning.

Tomorrow Martin and I are taking Keith and Terry on a mountain bike route. The two Sue's are going walking.

I love seeing the blossom out. When we came home from Spain at the end of February 2012 we saw field after field of it on our way from Murcia to France via Zaragoza. I have always wanted to do that journey again in the van but have never got around to going that early in the year, yet 😜. Enjoy the company & time away you two 😊

Another good day today. Great weather, a little cool in the shade, and a good route that we know well but was new to Terry and Keith. Three men and me went out. The two Sue's went for a walk.

We had to stop to talk to some dogs. Martin's not the only one that does that. Yesterday the dogs got some dog biscuits! Later on we came across a basking snake. Unfortunately we frightened it away.

It's now full here, with some having driven round and left. Almost all are foreign visitors, the local Spanish weekenders are going to be disappointed when they arrive. We'll be leaving a space tomorrow.

We're parting company with our friends for a few days but, if space permits, we may meet up with them again after the weekend, at Caravaca. They're going there after they've been to Cehegin (they've been practicing the pronunciation) and will let us know how full it is. It's getting to be a bit of a problem even inland.

Nice. We're looking forward to getting a lot more riding and hiking in now we're back in Spain. A night in Palmones tonight then we're heading up to the hundidero-gata cave system tomorrow. We've got about a month to enjoy Spain before we head back perhaps we could get together for a ride when we are heading back your way.

Yesterday we had a ride from our parking area at the, worth visiting, Santuario Virgen de Esperanza.

It was VERY busy over this weekend. Luckily we've visited before.

Our ride took is along the Rio Segura and through Calasparra and then our intention was to take the back road to the village of Valentin. No-one had told us that there was a duatlon being held there and the road we wanted was closed to traffic. BUT we were allowed through with the agreement to pull over if cyclists came towards us. We saw nothing until we rode through the narrow village streets and found ourselves in one of the taped lanes 🤣. I'm sure there must have been the Spanish equivalent of "There's always one" or two in our case, being muttered under their breath. Anyway we went on our way unchallenged.

Yes, we pushed our bikes straight through there!

We then had our second ooops. We were riding a lovely track, signed as a Pilgrim route to Caravaca, when we suddenly stopped at a drop and missing track. We could see the other side and Martin set off down the drop to find a way through.

Out, again, and back on the marked trail.

The weather forecast is for gail force winds and very warm today but dropping by over 10 degrees for the next few days, with some rain. So, this morning we decided to head back home and sit out the bad spell. The van is almost ready to go again. Washing done and dried in the 26° warm wind and now we're on red alert!

Twas a windy night, everything that could rattle did, more today I believe...a good joint decision was made..
Bit to catch up on..man with a van is collecting my Gaslow cylinders tomorrow and crossing my palm with a few euros, my bike forks may be ready...that would be nice, but not essential, eBike number 2 is currently leader of the pack..
Our German near neighbour has a sick Hymer panel van on a Ducato, it got taken away yesterday for repairs..I advised injector or fuel pump issues...but what do I know...I will be Taxi man when she needs to collect it...we are quite neighbourly when home...
Judith' made good use of our pitstop with a wash and dry that compares with any Formula one team....won't take much to get mobile again...🚴🏿🚴🏿🇪🇦😀

Forks for bike #1 arrived and have been fitted...great.
Gaslow cylinders not collected...guy changed his mind...great.
Van loaded and a short drive to Caravaca.great.
Opticians called to say new glasses have arrived....great...well not so...we had already arrived near Caravaca when we got the call.
Camperstop rammed....but got a spot in direct morning sun....
This place as previously stated has a bike charging area...FOC..that's going to get some use over the next few days..🚴🏿🚴🏿😃🇪🇦

Martin's already said we're at Caravaca. We've sort of picked up where we left off. It's the busiest here that we've seen so far and, for some reason, most of the vehicles are Spanish registered. We don't know why it's so popular with Spaniards right now.

We had a walk to the bank through some narrow back streets, and then a climb up to the Basilica. We sat for a few minutes in the church listening to some very soothing music. Unfortunately photos inside are prohibited.

We've never been in your area and looks great. One day we'll have a look. Thing is, with the van, we tend to stay in the north half of the peninsula 😬 for climate reasons basically. Soon we'll be having a long weekend and we'll be heading to the interior of Alicante, for a change.
Sierra the Cazorla is also a plan for the future(y)
