It's autumn in Spain, we're on the road again

Stars??

We should be getting the van back soon. We've had daily progress reports and photos, and it does look like it's been improved. Only when we see it for real will we know. We're going to tart up the inside now as well. I've got some curtains to make and some sticky tiles for the kitchen area. With some more new mats it should look a bit more colourful. We may even have it reupholstered.

Martin's tasks won't make any difference visually, but hopefully we're reducing the weight by removing some unused items. Lots of duplicate tools and electrikery, the TV, heavy gas bottles, satellite and, maybe, the spare wheel and just carry a tyre.

We're going to weigh it empty when we get it back and before we start to refill it and then decide what we can keep.

We'll soon be on the road again 🎊🎊

Were you overweight?
We once weighed ours on a short trip 350 over!
Open our eyes.
Don’t know what it weighed and a return from a winter trip?
With all the goodies!

We weigh our van regularly and we're normally OK but the last time we weighed it, it was much heavier than usual for some reason. Maybe the Weybridge was out 😂. Martin would like to carry his inflatable canoe in the summer so we need to make an allowance for that.

Just to expand on what Judith has said...our van is generally below 3500kg...but eBikes make it quite close...as does the additional 230amp Lithium...
There are some easily achievable options...some have been scheduled...first...take out the 2 full size Gaslow...replace with 1 lightweight refillable and 1 buffer exchangeable cylinder...these I have...both Butane and Propane...afterall a second re-fillable rarely gets used for long periods...before finding a LPG outlet....dead weight in my opinion...I also have a 6kg Repsol lightweight...this will make an ideal summer buffer.
At some point our Oyster Sat system will be taken off...we have unlimited data in our van, so TV is provided by a Firestick into a wall mounted monitor...
The spare wheel may come out, tyre removed and carry just this....we have 365 day breakdown service on our vehicle insurance...so a tyre fitting option may be a better solution in the event...no way am I willing or capable of changing a wheel ..
Travelling with just sufficient water in the tank and half a diesel fill, should give us enough kilos spare to include my summer canoe...
If not...we will have a rethink...🤔🇪🇦

Edit...It's 3 Kings day today...our second Christmas...no gifts or other festivities for us....we've had enough of that..😀🌲🥳🥳🤔

Everything going to plan...well not quite...van is nearly ready...might get the Omnistore awning painted to match the other newly sprayed bits...Guy who has done the work is not aware of this..but will be tomorrow...might take it off and leave it with him...that's if it going to come off easily "Anyone ever done this?"
My nice new bike is in the sick bay...it has a leak on one of the fork legs...the bike company have recalled it...the whole bike actually...but they are getting just the forks, which I took off yesterday in preparation to ship back to Germany...at their expense of course..
Lots of bits and pieces to do when van get back here...and then we might get rolling and posting again..

We've decided to go and have a look at the van today so if we want any more bits doing to it he can do them before we pick it up. I can also get the curtains so I can make some new ones now I've got the material after about 3 years of looking 🤣.

First photos...the motorhome is no longer identified as a Hymer...and the paint job is non standard colours....but an improvement on an 18 year old van with peeling paintwork...We like it..

We had an easy day today. We rode a route we'd done before, but we changed the beginning to make it easier because last time there was a very steep descent down a rough track with loose stones. After seeing the newly surfaced roads around here we realised that there had been quite bad flood damage, and we saw the evidence for ourselves on our return section. Lots of thick dried mud in fields and deep gullies on our track. So the earlier section was best avoided. It also missed out a ford crossing as well which could have been difficult.

This doesn't show the damage but there were lots of fallen trees off picture to the left.

There's only a track access to these buildings. I wonder if they were stuck in/out?

We had a tapas lunch today and tomorrow we're having sprouts. No turkey for us, we're having some rosemary marinated pork with roast potatoes and sprouts, peas and sweetcorn.

And ... we had a bottle of 5.5% sparkling white wine.

And ... we had a truffle chocolate each with coffee.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No like for that one, you mentioned sprouts.:envy::envy::envy:
Busy morning getting items of value removed from MH... it's going tomorrow to be made prettier than it currently is..although we live in the top floor Penthouse apartment, we didn't fancy lugging everything up three floors and store everything there...so we asked a ground floor apartment owner who is in the UK, can we put a box of two in your apartment....no problem was the answer...it's now bursting...and of course...we do have a key...doing them a favour, key holding..
Amazing how much came out of van....this will give us chance to sort and re-load in a couple of weeks...motorhoming should restart about then...we do enjoy our adventures away from home...even an hour away, like we've just experienced 🥳🇪🇦
We changed vans last June still have loads of boxes of stuff that came out the old van to sort through.

Would it be rude to ask how much for the paint job ?
Rude certainly not.. however our guy has asked me not to publicise anything on social media..he is trying to get established.....only thing I can say is ..we can afford to eat next week and put the apartment heating on...
