Is this a "Funster"..????

I think the rules went out the window a long time ago for people in England tbh, I've seen plenty of people sleeping out in the forest in my area and tbh I can't blame them anymore, the government have been a joke in the whole situation, I think if you are clean, tidy and don't leave any trace you were ever there I don't see the harm, you have more space and distance away from people, I see no risk to others at all unlike the rammed beaches.

I would use 'people' instead of 'government' ...

I'm sure none of us would appreciate our reg numbers being displayed on the internet, plus data protection and all that malarky...

I have never quite understood what is the worry about showing a reg plate on the internet or is it the fact that the reg plate belongs to a individual breaking the lock-down laws?

Data protection is a much used term. I am wondering, what is it in this thread about that specific individual that you believe is not already in the public domain and would break the GDPR laws?

A few searching clicks on the interwebby enables anyone with bad intentions to find out where the owner of that number plate lives.

The other risk is that the number plate can be cloned to disguise a similar stolen vehicle.

Honest question but are they allowed to wild in England or not? I've lost track of the changing rules but want to try after 9th July if not against them.

of course you are.

remove any height barriers or bollards of you like

Just another person happy to break the rules if just out for a jolly but without knowing they could have a valid reason.

Was there a problem with the site they were
or about to stay at (full timers)?

Are they working on the frontline and had no alternative for a one night stop?

Has there been an issue with van or health while just parked up for the day?

I’m reasonably internet savy but that one must have passed me by.

Out of pure curiosity, you wouldn’t mind PMing me the details would you?

Ian

PS I have no malevolent intent.

This is my registeration number and anyone can use it 😂 FF05 SIP read it in reverse.

John.

Must look hilarious when you take a selfie with that number in the background! 🤣

The Irish version of that number (FF05 SEP - think a la Feck off!) is currently available on the DVLA page for £250. 😎

How is that any different than someone reading the numberplate while the vehicle is parked up in a carpark or being driven down the road?

I just use the interwebby via my steam powered PC. This new fangled internet is not for me.

When you say 'where the owner lives' do you mean purely by looking at the regional identifier so you can see where it was originally registered, or do you mean you can find the actual details of the owner as that seems to be something that you cannot do.

The same risk as being in public with a number plate on your vehicle then? :giggle:

My vehicle is currently on public show about once a fortnight. Mileage is minimal for now. A photo on the interwebby would put the numberplate on show 24/7 so that is really not a valid comparison. If I were a lowlife searching for a vehicle similar to one that I had stolen, it would be much easier and quicker to google some images than randomly cruise round residential areas or car parks on the offchance.

My 2d worth.

Criminals obviously would never, never, ever tell any fibs to DVLA to get the keeper details. Trust me on this - NOT.

There are a whole host of reasons against posting someone’s number plate in a critical post, but I’m not aware of any way of (legally) finding someone’s home address via the number plate.

Just my opinion, but isn't it a bit off putting images of the van on the internet and giving details of what the people are doing? Surely it's his business and if he's not causing any bother nor leaving a mess, then he should be entitled to his privacy?

I'm sure none of us would appreciate our reg numbers being displayed on the internet, plus data protection and all that malarky...

Lockdown? That went out the window when high profile people totally disregarded it, they lead by example.

Whether he's a funster or not I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate this thread....twitching curtains or what?
So it’s you then! 🤣🤣🤣 who said they would not own up 🤣

That's not the same as being able to find it on the internet though, that's what I'm trying to find out about.

FYI a few clicks on the interwebby gets you to ... DVLA. That's what I meant although I didn't go into detail.

Just before last Christmas we purchased a 9 month old ex demo car from Bridgend Ford in Wales . . the regional identifier is AK as it was first registered to the Ford Motor Company in Peterborough !

The curtain twitchers can hardly contain themselves

I must admit I was going to put the private reg that we had on the previous camper on our MH but not sure it's a good idea now ... its a Northern Ireland one! :giggle:

We suggest M1 NXX would be suitable for you :giggle: . . . you may need deep pockets tho'

I think the point I was trying to make is that it's quite obvious too many people have had too much time on their hands, and all of a sudden they start becoming lockdown vigilantes.
The owners of that van don't seem to be doing any harm, and in the great scheme of things they're not putting anyone else in jeopardy, as they're pretty much self isolating by the look of it?
If they had crammed onto a crowded beach or hypocritically told us to do one thing, then do the opposite, I would understand. But they're not. They're minding their own business by the look of it?
I wonder how any of the vigilantes would feel if that van owner took a photo of any of them leaving their house, and then put up on an internet forum suggesting that they had been spotted breaking lock down regs? I would imagine they would be outraged!
Boris has pretty much p###ed on his own fireworks about the importance of self discipline and compliance with lock down regs, so I dont blame this chap doing what hes doing in his van, whilst not bothering anyone.
But hey, if you want to think it's me in that van then you crack on!

I think putting the plate thing aside it's abit of a creepy thing to do, taking pics of someone's motorhome and dog from behind the trees and bushes. This would annoy me alot and I'd presume it was some sort of peeping tom.
