Is there anyone who doesn't go to Benidorm?

Passed by Benidorm when touring Spain in 2021. Couldn't bring myself to enter. To many Brits there for a start.

I'll try and explain the fascination..

It's because Benidorm is so unique, it's fantastic. I do try to visit other places on the way, some are mildly interesting, maybe a good beach or something but you soon get bored of the same old same old..

Get the motorcycle off the back of the van, go for a ride, buy some beer, visit the beautiful beach, go shopping, then back to the pool for a cooling swim, then get ready and go for a stroll down the road, eat in one of the many excellent cheap restaurants then see the Spanish Beatles with a pint or 2 and walk back to the van... The perfect day.

That sounds to me like the 'same old, same old'. Typical Brits abroad in Spain that I so detest. However, each to their own. You stay in Beni and I'll stick to the crusty old villages, monestaries, countryside hikes, historic towns and cities, quiet hidden beaches etc.

Got a photo today from a friend who’s visiting her son in Dubai - remind you of anywhere ….?

I do all the things you like doing - wandering around villages, walking for miles, in towns and cities. We love quiet beaches, quirky little harbours, cycling on trails and quiet country lanes.

I also love Benidorm, so I’m one of those Brits that you detest. I find your post offensive, so hope we never meet.

I never thought I’d write a sentence like that on Fun 😢

Are we not almost back to the beginning? Funsters are a divergent group with generally one common interest but with hundreds of not thousands of other interests, some of which are shared with other Funsters. It is sad that despite all that has been said from both viewpoints, that some people repeat things that have been discussed ad nauseum and then draw unfair inferences about those that do, (or do not), like Benidorm. I quite understand why Geraldine has written what she has.

No-one in Benidorm is suggesting all Funsters need to go there although hints of snobbery do not help, equally, no-one that is not there, is telling those that are to come home, although again hints of lack of culture, also do not help.

Please, let's all accept we are not all the same and looking for the same things and being tolerant and kind in our responses to other Funsters.

Seeing the photos of the group meal with so many I know and would count as friends gave me a short tinge of jealousy, but I still will not be joining you. 😆

Someone who detests fellow members, is there any wonder he's on his own in monasteries being holier than though. Probably carries boiled sweets for kiddies too.

That's hardly the kindest of responses. Can we calm things down before someone ends up in Coventry please?

Coventry? Is that the emerging Benidorm?

Well, what a lovely afternoon and evening we’ve all had! Some went into town to spend the afternoon with tonka Steve and Irene. Sorry we didn’t make it Steve, and hope you have a safe trip home.

They all got back in time for Karaoke at Arena Blanca bar and for roncab Jeanette to blast out Penny Arcade to dancing and tumultuous applause - just wonderful.

It’s the first anniversary of my mum’s passing and she would have approved of how we marked it! She also loved Beni.

Cliff and I finished the evening off with a lovely meal at The Bamboo.

After reading all the posts on here by those who love Beni, or hate it, I know I am amongst real friends, who I cherish, and who I wouldn’t have met without Jim ‘s wonderful forum. I probably wouldn’t have come to Beni if it hadn’t been for MHF, so I thank my lucky stars I joined the best forum bar none!

WE've been to Benidorm and now go to other places - yes we're off to La Vila Joiosa but at the end of the year we're heading Albuferia way
We done Benidorm and after last new year we were put off and as I don't drink Alcohol and my wife is drinking less and less and it's getting far too alcohol dependant for anything and the things we enjoy are found outside of the town

Will be in area for month of May but staying 15min outside Benidorm... so when we fancy a visit we can pop in and back on the bus and relax in the countryside the rest of the time .... win win in my humble opinion..

Strangely enough we were in Albufeira last year (have been for last 5 yrs) and know it extremely well and commented to the wife how many more stag/hen groups there were .... so don't think you will escape the craziness of Benidorm by going there ,,

I haven’t drunk alcohol for decades and still have fun in Beni. It’s an attitude of mind. I have fun almost everywhere I go and it’s usually fuelled with no more than Yorkshire gold or water.

We visited Albufeira for the first time in November, certainly won’t be rushing back to the main town although we did enjoy the area out of town with some stunning beaches and lovely cycle routes.

I wasn't responding to you personally, I was replying to the original post. I am sure there are somethings and people you dislike in this world. There are no doubt somethings I do that you might not appreciate. That's life, we are all different. Don't take it personally.

A brilliant evening with 31 funsters. The food was excellent and so was the service. As an example.for two.
Prawn crackers with chilli dip
Spring rolls for starters( big ones)
Chicken in almonds
Beef in mushroom
Noodles and rice noodles
Ice cream or coffee
Bottle of house wine and a shot of scnappes/ brandy/ baileys
20 euros for 2 people.
The buffet meal was 18.50 . A choice from about 50 dishes..
 (y)

Used to go in the 70's using package deals, never gone since and never will again, want History & Culture
Is it slightly ironic that your description at the bottom of your post (sorry I'm not sure of the technical term) says:

Want to see & stay at all the places we passed in the past.

Although I suppose you didn't actually pass Benidorm
??😁
