Is 130 BHP enough?

Hi we have a 130 BHP Peugeot motorhome and tow a Toyota Aygo heading up to Fort William on the motorway up all the usual motorway route in sixth gear not a problem l regularly get 26 mpg and yes the newer models are up to 150 BHP and that is down to normal upgrades and remapping of the engines
That's useful information for me thanks Boris. My only reservation about getting a motorhome has always been the difficulty regarding just going shopping and having the aggravation of parking a large vehicle. We do like getting out and about some of the time and going to markets, places of interest etc and sometimes it's hard enough finding parking for a normal sized car. If it's possible to comfortable tow a little car with that engine, then that will do for me if I go down that route, even if I have to have the engine re-mapped.

As I've said before, I never buy any vehicle new, just ones that are in excellent condition for the price.
(I let the first owner enjoy the depreciation hit and the teething problems. :giggle: )

So, is the above statement by Lenny true??? I know that's how it used to be in 'the good old days', but I thought with modern oils, fuels, ECU's and bench run engines etc., the 'running-in period' was a thing of the past?
My experience os the same as Lenny HB . Had 2 130HPs from new. Got better after 10K miles

Same here, we've had a few, 1 x 130 bhp and 3 x 150bhp, and they all start to loosen up nicely after 5,000 miles but even better after 10,000 miles.

I picked it up earlier today and drove 30 miles to the storage compound. I'm amazed and over the moon about the power delivery. I didn't exactly thrash it, just drove up to speed limits - mainly 50 with some 60 and 5 miles of A1 at 70 mph. Gear changes up the box easy at 1500rpm and easily maintained 50mph in 6th gear on slight inclines. It's just done slightly over 20,000 miles, so just nicely run in. I've not driven one of these before, so I wouldn't put money on this, but I would be inclined to suspect that it has been re-mapped and previous owner has kept quiet about it because he hasn't declared it to Insurers. If I decide to do so, I would be confident to drag something like a Hyundai i10 on an A-frame behind it. Can't wait to give it a longer drive and some habitation as overall. a lovely motor home. Top marks to Fuller Leisure, Nottingham for preparation of the vehicle and handover.

Good news, hope all your fears have gone away and your new Motorhome gives you many years of pleasure.

Don't get too happy just yet. I have found in the past that when I have emptied out any of my previous motorhomes, for whatever reason, they drive like a sports car. You need to add all your stuff and then drive it, you may find it a little wanting. There again I could be wrong :giggle:

Might not be the case in an A class as the original body of the cab is not used.

It's over 7m with a 130 it is going to be underpowered, I had a 130 in a 6.8m it was just about OK, last two vans have had the 150 even they are underpowered on mountain roads. I would look for one with the 180 engine it will be far nicer to drive.
I used to gross at 32 ton with only 150 bhp under the bonnet..Only took me half hour longer back then Derby to Dover than it does now..😃😃😃..Mind you my van now is a 2.0 litre H.D.I.non turbo..BUSBY.
