IQ Mobile reviews? vs RWG and Popit

I bought IQ sim in May for use in Eur, worked ok except it would not run google maps live on my iPad without buffering which is useless. Would run the phone not too badly though. But…… the initial 100 gb is renewed only with a 3 month contract which is much more expensive than using the EE roaming on my phone. So I have binned that and gone back to EE. There is always a catch on these deals I think.
I think maybe you are looking at the phone sims, & not IQ Go? IQ Go allows you to purchase 100gb at a time, after the initial purchase of the sim. Mine is resting, & I will buy more data when we go away in October.

That's possibly right, since IQGo is just a month to month purchase, not a contract.

You're the only person I've heard say they're dissatisfied with IQGo. It's particularly odd because IQGo is run on the EE network, yet you say you've gone back to EE. I don't understand the back office of these things at all but I'm sad to hear you've had such problems. IQGo, for most people (including me) works a treat. Maybe someone else can explain what might have happened (or not happened) in your case.

Didn’t mention IQGO so maybe it was a standard IQ phone SIM?

In common with yourself and many others I’ve found the IQGO subscription model to work well in Euroland and back home. Resting for a month now before I reactivate it for more touring next month.

We have the sims for the phone and after the initial use we now have it on direct debit.

Just checked on Top Cashback and they are currently showing 42% cashback!
That could be the clincher for me before we head off to Europe in 10 days.

That might be for the IQ Mobile phone SIM plans. I looked high and low for any discounts for the IQGO data SIM and 30 day 100gb top up and couldn’t find any.

Just checked my Top Cashback account and it is showing + £16.80 which is 42% so happy days. 😁

RGW have dropped to 25GB in EU so I think they're out of the game now.

I've ended up with two SIMS - Vodafone for calls and texts because coverage from EE, which is what Popit uses in the UK, is pants at my house and the Popit SIM for data, Currently set at £25 a month for 100Gb but will drop that when we get back from the September / October run.

We’re back off to France/ Spain for 2 months but didn’t realise IQGo can only be used for 3 months in a year. We’ve already been out in the spring for 38 days.
Not sure how rigid that is, and if we don’t use it for a few days will that be taken into account.

You could always buy a second SIM if you need more.

I complained to them that the contract I signed was 3 months in six not one 3 month period and they admitted that my contract was valid as was. But they may renage on that when annual renewal is due.
We have been using IqGo for nearly 3 months all round Scandinavia and speeds have been fantastic and no drop out anywhere but, 100Gb is not quite enough for us and we have been getting through it in20 days so it has worked out quite expensive with the additional £20 pa subs. But renewal each time has been easy but a bit stressful with the timing.
I have just discovered that I also have Grandfather rights with my home internet sim from ID which should give me unlimited use in Europe so I will try that next time away. It is on Three though which may be a downside although at home with an external Ariel it is fantastic.

Currently over in France and using Huawei 5577Cs MiGi with an IQ GO data sim.
I’ve just noticed that instead of showing the data provider as “EE” on the screen it’s says
“FREE” Does anyone know if this is correct.

Thanks
Derry

Not sure but our phones, which are with Tesco, show a variety of local carriers when we’re in France - Orange, etc, etc. EE presumably uses a range of domestic networks in France?

Probably.

Free S.A.S. is a French telecommunications company, subsidiary of Iliad S.A. that provides voice, video, data, and Internet telecommunications to consumers in France.

Yes but better to choose orange as mainly better signal and coverage

Lebara have 15GB for 99p at the moment. No contract. Goes up to £7 in 6 months.

If I was able to travel at the mo I would buy 4 of these (on different email addresses). 60GB for £3.96. (limited to 48gb in the EU)

Here is a list of all EE’s partners around the world in France Free is one of them. So all is good! Looks like you might get a connection with any of 4 different French networks!

I can endorse IQ. Just got back from a two month tour around Portugal Spain and France, me and my partner booth have iphones with IQ only sims. The deal we got last November was £10 per month for 80gig each in the uk and 30gig each in Europe. Worked a treat for us, no issues with IQ. My iPhone said I used way more than 30gig but I think it’s just inaccurate.

This is even better as only 26p more and means you can use 30gb when roaming so 2 x £1.25 = £2.50.

I am with Lebara at the moment £4.50 MSE deal with only 5gb. but how can i switch to one of these better deals without losing my number as it is not moving companies?
Get a cheap/free SIM from another provider and port out then back in again.

Someone previously mentioned Asda don't require you to top up to make their Sims active, not tried it myself but they are free so you could try.
