Went to top up my IQ Go sim today with 100 gb of data for £20.00 to discover as of 20th September (yesterday) they have changed the conditions to a fair useage policy. 100gb in uk and only 25gb in Europe. Up until today I had had no notification of this. Am I doing something wrong or have any of you come across this. I find this a little frustrating as they were keen enough to take my annual subscription a few weeks ago.
Looks like I shall be buying a local data sim.

Dont Smarty use 3 as the carrier? In my experience the UK coverage speeds is way lower than the other providers. Not tried them in the EU though.
Yes your right I have just moved to Smarty and will be cancelling the speeds over the last 3 weeks have been terrible compared to EE even though 3 assure me we have excellent signal in our area. I will probably go 1p mobile who use EE £18 for 200gb data only for 30 days.

Likewise, thanks to 379inca for flagging. (y)
IQ Go 100Gb add-on just bought for activation on 30 Sept. Should see me through October in EU at least and I'll shop around nearer the time.
Just tried purchasing another 100gb bundle starting on 30/09 and the IQgo site is only offering 25GB for EU now.
They did say yesterday on whatsapp they would give the full 100GB if ordered before 30/09. I have messaged them for clarity, but it looks like we may have missed the boat.

Are these data only sims, please?
200 GB of data, unlimited calls to mobiles and landlines within Spain and 1000 texts to other DIGI mobiles (as I understand from Google translate).

Works in Spain and, bizarrely, Romania. Unfortunately not Portugal where I’ll be heading after Spain. But €16 for 200 GB sounds good value.

Lizbie, is it a monthly contact or do you have to sign up for 22 months please?

I don't think so but I don't speak Spanish and rely on Google translate.

This was in their FAQ's: "You can enjoy any of our mobile phone products for as long as you want, without any commitment of permanence."

But maybe it isn't Pay and Go and a contract is necessary although I'd heard you only need to have some ID (like a passport) to buy one.

It is a phone sim, If you choose the combo option it also includes international minutes. You can roam, the 200 GB SIM allows 20 gb roaming.

Don't know if this relates or not but I got a message about fair use policy from O2 that I never had before.

I pay a tenner a month for both phones and we get 25gb abroad per month.

Unless we use more than 62 days in a 4 month period. Which we seem to have surpassed. Though it is working at present and fairly certain we are currently permanently past that mark.

Just arrived in France with a new IQ in my mifi. I did order 100gb before this news so will see if it lasts our 3 weeks here. We've 25gb in our own EE sims the IQ was just for amazon firestick. I think the e.leclerc sim will be purchased I'd we run out.

Fair play to the IQ CS though, if nothing new opens up can get most of the £20 sim cost back.

Remember, if you go to buy a L'Eclerc sim, you'll need to take your passport with you and may need to give a French address, too :)

Is Reglo Mobile @ e.leclerc ?

Looks like a great option for a MiFi (in France) with 200Gb for <€10
Do they need proof of residence, or just an address (can use a friend's)?

Yes, they're one and the same. I don't think you need proof of address, just an address (you can use your friend's). I bought mine online when we first moved here and what a faff that was! You'll definitely need your passport.

EDIT - Just to say that once you have your sim it's easy to manage it online. You can change the package you have easily (so increase the data when you need it and reduce to the minimum when you don't) but bear in mind that you can't do this mid-month. Well, you can but it won't be effective until the following month. So, if you're coming to France on the 12th of December, make sure you increase your data sometime in November. And when you go home; reduce it at the end of the month.

FURTHER EDIT - Just to show the above point, I just went onto my account to test changing from one package to another and you can see it will be effective from 1st October. Hope this helps :)

3 are the biggest service provider in Europe. Faultless connectivity on trips to France, Switzerland Italy and western France this year. I wouldn’t use any other network for europe

Full Time 2011-2013, now part timers!
Im going to try these people for our trip in November
Can get an eSIM or a physical sim, & as we are going to France & Spain it will save us getting local sims. Code CONNECT25 for 25% off first month. Not sure if it will work, but looks ok?

I like eSIMs , but would like to use one in my MiFi, as then I wouldn’t need to leave my phone all the time. Is there a MiFi that accepts eSIMs does anyone know?

Looks expensive even if you take 25% off - £39 per month for 15GB roaming.

That's deceptive then because it says 'Unlimited Data SIM Cards for Europe'.

It also says;

"*Unlimited Data: Is there a fair usage policy?

There is no fair usage policy for our SIM Only options, allowing you the comfort of truly unlimited data usage without any restrictions or additional charges. We prioritize your freedom to stay connected at all times. However, it’s important to note that if non-personal data usage is detected, we reserve the right to reduce your data speed to ensure fair network bandwidth allocation for all users. This measure is in place solely to prevent the misuse of services and to keep the network performing optimally for everyone."

The Sim plus package is unlimited data roaming but its £59/month, but you can stop and start again if you wish.

What with Starlink limiting access to 2 months
Fragle Can you tell me more about the '2 month' limit on Starlink? Is this on the spanish supply as a 'fixed' installation or on a UK supply as a fixed or roaming type supply?

We are going to Portugal for the best part on 90 and need a fair bit of data, this works out at 1 euro a day for unlimited?

I have tried getting an e sim that would work in my Huawei mi fi but not found one yet. But have found a service where you hire the mi fi for use in Portugal and for 90 days works out 1 Euro a day unlimited can be used in Spain but an extra 1 Euro, a bit dearer for shorter periods.

As of 10th October Régional areas are no longer and you now have a system that means it is based on your country of registration. This is for roaming contract
Along with this comes a new restriction of 2 months roaming away from your home country. Initially it was 2 months in a 12 month period. We now think it’s 2 months out of the country. Come back and it resets.
It remains to be seen how all the changes will affect our use

Just looked at Tesco and they have a deal of £14 for 100Gb (SIMonly) with no EU roaming fees till 2026. But doesn't say when in 2026 and it's a 24 month contract. So at worst that could mean just over 15 months of no EU roaming fees. If it were a 12 month contract I'd take it.
