Went to top up my IQ Go sim today with 100 gb of data for £20.00 to discover as of 20th September (yesterday) they have changed the conditions to a fair useage policy. 100gb in uk and only 25gb in Europe. Up until today I had had no notification of this. Am I doing something wrong or have any of you come across this. I find this a little frustrating as they were keen enough to take my annual subscription a few weeks ago.
Looks like I shall be buying a local data sim.

Thats not what i was told. Anita has a Tesco sim and they wouldnt/ couldnt confirm how the EU roaming may be affected prior to the recent extension to 31/12/2025.
I don't understand how that's different to what I posted, they've recently extended to the end of 2025, it is now September, in the latter part of the year. Since the middle of 2022 they announced that free EU roaming and all your allowance would end in January 2023 unless you had a contact prior to June 2022 in which case the change wouldn't effect you, towards the end of 2022 they said the roaming would continue until January 2024 then towards the end of 2023 it was extended until January 2025 now its been extended until January 2027 we'll have to wait until towards the end of 2025 to find out if it's been extended again.

I just bought one last week before leaving the UK not put any data on it yet I shall be onto them for a refund of my £20.
Their big selling point on their website was EU roaming.
Try POPIT next time Lenny. 100 GB for £25 but have to activate in the UK. There's always Starlink.........🤣

Smarty, we have unlimited for £20 a month and no contract - cancel when you want and restart using the same number. There is a fair EU usage. We have 2 sims and alternate them each month.
There's a Fair Use EU limit of 12 GB per month, so poor compared to many others.

It is correct that they only decide towards the end of the year whether they can extend it for another year, however they have for the last two years, I am fortunate that i'm on an old contract so it doesn't effect me unless I change my contract.
Me too my 100 gig contract run out in June they sent me a email saying you can carry on as you are with no contract if you want to

Didn't realise it was extended until Jan 2027, still says 2026 on the site and the agent confirm it was until 01/01/2026. Do have a link to this new information for 2027?

Its not just activating it, You have to use data in the UK in line with their fair use policy. However no one could tell me what that actually meant & I had to pay an extra months subscription to use more data when I returned to UK.

I've had exactly same with smarty. Bought a 100gb sim only to get 12gb in eu.

Sorry I confused myself, it should be January 2026 and we will find out towards the end of 2025 if it will be extended again as it has been each year since 2022. I realise it's a gamble on whether you will get the extra year or not but even if you only got one year it's extremely convenient. I alternate between my router with an EE unlimited Sim and my Tesco unlimited Sim in a mifi depending on which one is giving me the best speed at any given location and I don’t have to worry about running out of data in the EU, for me that works well.

What I meant is from January 27 you will no longer be able to roam unless towards the end of 2026 they extend it again as they have done since 2022. I hope that's a bit clearer.
But the website says until 2026.

Not the end of 2026.

See IQ’s reply to me post #9. It will be ok for 1 month if purchased before 1st Ictober - then fair use kicks in until they find a solution - that’s not clear, but they’re clever 🤞

Disappointed in this but not surprised as I wondered how they could do unlimited roaming but EE the carrier stopped it. EE do have an add on for unlimited/full roaming if you have a big enough bundle so maybe they go down that route.

Looking on the website it just says they stopped selling IQ GO but still says full use in EU for existing customers
I’ve had email confirmation that if you already have an active sim/subscription they will honour the 100gb if you purchase a top up before the end of September. Anything after the 1st of October will be capped to 25gb regardless of your current status. But as has been mentioned further back in this thread they said watch this space as they are trying to come up with a solution. Unfortunately I think there hands will be tied by the 4 main carrier suppliers.

They always send 2 SIMS just in case you get a faulty one

You save one for your next trip, I’ve been using tiekom for a few years now and find it works great for me.

Mystery [to me] solved . Brilliant , thanks
You will just need to make a note of the numbers on the SIM and email customer services (usually Camino) and tell them which SIM you have inserted in your device so it can be enabled at their end
