Ineos Grenadier, what do we think of it

My Defender got me in the desert, where I recovered a Land Cruiser, and out again. Then camping in the High Atlas Mountains on the way.

When I worked in Oman, a group of us went on a weekend expedition into the sand dunes of the Empty Quarter. There was a mixture of Japanese 4x4s - Land Cruisers, Paljeros, Nissans and some Range Rovers.

My colleague and I borrowed an Army Landrover 110 soft top for the trip. A lot of the fancy 4x4s got stuck in the soft sand if they lost momentum. On every occasion, we just drove up and stopped in front of them, hitched up a tow rope and pulled them out! It was very gratifying, and worth not having all the mod cons like leather seats and A/C!

Everytime guaranteed. 😩😩

Mine has got me in and out of everywhery, and recovering a few bits of Jap crap whilst doing it.
I have had 2 Mitsubishi Spacewagons and 4 Toyota Previas. Utterly Reliable all of them.

Currently have a Range Rover L322 4.4 V8 TDV8 with ZF 8 Speed Rotary Dial Gearbox. Lovely to drive, goes anywhere. But very poor reliability.

Also have a Toyota Vellfire 3.5V6 AWD 8 seat. Can't go off-road, but Great to drive and Superb Reliability

Afew of these Grenadiers running about Kelso this week. All on French plates.
Was a big release/press/repoter event on I believe.

They are nice to drive. Auto only though now I hear.

Nothing wrong with that these days. I had a VW Amarok with permanent Torsen differential 4x4 and the ZF 8 Speed Auto ‘box, and it lacked nothing compared to the previous 6 speed manual with part time 4 or 2 week drive. Hit the ‘off-road’ button and the gearbox and throttle response change to suit. I’m watching the Grenadier with interest as it appears to address the ergonomic limitations of the original Defender with bang up to date mechanicals and electronics.
