Rally Chat In the news - Gatherings of more than six banned

The rules are not a ban on gatherings of over six though are they? The ban is on SOCIAL gatherings. It’s funny how many on here like to interpret the rules to suit their own agenda.
I also started a similar thread. I didn't interpret the rules, I caught the news last night, about a spike in infection rates, and Boris' new rules. Maybe I overreacted, but I certainly don't have any agenda!

Very true, these groups seem to think they are immune from responsibility. However, on the opposite side of the debate the UK government has effectively banned the democratic right to protest, with a potential no deal exit from the EU coming up, ever confusing contradictory COVID policies , have they just used this as an excuse to ban a form of expressing discontent against themselves ?

It’s just weird that they want to limit gatherings to 6, however social they may be, but still insist that if you work from home you are selfish for not choosing to sit in traffic or used overcrowded expensive public transport .

Yes agreed.

I think putting rules on people's ability to associate and protest really does suit the government's agenda at the moment.

How long will we put up with these restrictions on our freedom of movement?

The key word is social, I don't see them closing everything down especially those held at camping venues and following all the rules

Social gatherings of more than six people in England will not be allowed in law from Monday 14 September

There are some exceptions to the new rules. Households and support bubbles bigger than six can socialise together - but not with anyone else at the same time - and gatherings can be more than six if it is for work or education purposes.

The rationale behind allowing this, but not allowing larger groups of people inside other people's homes, is that businesses can only be open if they follow safety and hygiene measures set out by the government, he added.

Laws haven't stopped various protests so far and I doubt it will in the future.

Every store / retailer has the right to ask anyone to leave and/or to refuse to serve them. "Policing" isn't needed.
Until they "Victim" That refuses to wear a mask starts kicking off at the person who asked them to leave.

They cannot touch shop lifters so what hope have they got insisting a mask must be worn . You know it’s their human rights etc etc

That's crazy but true.
My friend was a security guard at a dept. store.
He was given a heads up that a known shoplifter was in store.
When she tried to leave with un-purchased items under her arm he grabbed the items. Not her, but still got sacked.
He's in Portland, USA. tho.

And if the goods are under £200 they get off with a caution as it’s easier, and cheaper than going to court. As seen of the tv program about a shopping centre and staff etc.

Not all retail outlets have the facilities to cope with abunch of "Bolshei" customers. And of course manhandling them would be assault.
