IAN and HELGA,,ONWARDS and UPWARDS!!

Good news about finding a buyer for Helga!

The Cornish purchaser must be seriously keen with a round-trip journey from, say Truro, to Norwich, being well over 750 miles and more than 13 hours driving time! :xsmile:
That's not bad ...every motorhome I've ever bought has been about 800-1000 miles round trip , current one was stoke on trent from fife Scotland, previous was evesham ,Weston super mare , Plymouth and maidstone lol.

I hope hes given you a decent deposit ianthebuilder at least £1k to hold it.

£500 non refundable!

Pleased for you, selling (hopefully) Helga so quickly.
The quickest way to move into your flat-buy a ‘boxed’ (means it has sides like a mattress) airbed and use camp chairs & table. Eat take-a ways!

I see loads of interesting stuff in Scotland and I'm a mile from the south coast! ?

I did buy a car from Scotland once, flew up, drove home, shouldn't have really as rear brake pads were on the metal backing as I left! What do you do when you have bought a one way ticket and it's a 3 year old car, not an old banger.

Good evening,,, it’s hammering down here again!!

Ok,, I have a question!!!!

How hard is to learn to weld box metal together?
And what equipment do you need?

I thank you in anticipation of your answers! Xx

Travelled from Stirling to Bournemouth for ours, after a flight from Alicante!
20 mins to airport, 3 hours flight to Edinburgh, 9 hour bus to London, 2 hour train to near Bournemouth.

6 days drive from Bournemouth to Stirling...

It took me 4 years ? but I'm Lloyd's coded
My welds were once insured for millions ....wish I got paid that for them ha ha ha

Hi Ian, well done selling Helga, it's all coming together nicely.

Now then this welding, what have you in mind, welding a box together is a simple enough task, you will need a manual metal arc welding transformer, some welding rods, a welding mask and a little skill.
Easy for me as I served my time as a pipeline welder all welds x-rayed for which we had to be Lloyds tested which was ASME 9 coded.

What exactly do you have in mind?

Well done Ian!
Although I shall miss your adventures in Helga .
We all hope you will start a new thread about your next stage in your life! , just because Helga is moving on to pastures new doesn’t mean you can’t still post!!!

I still chortle at you driving along with the bed dropped down on your head!!
Happy days!?

Well done Ian.

I've read all of (all of) your threads, even if I don't comment very often.

Good luck for you in the future.

no, but I will introduce them properly when they come! Lol

I did think also introduce them to FUN via all your threads, but, maybe not ... ? (at least get the money safe in your bank first).

Have a great Christmas and an even better 2020 ?

Morning,,,

hasn’t stopped raining all night, and still hammering here!!

I’m going to have to have a word with the guvnor here, he has a tractor and I’m going to get him to stand by, while I try to get Helga off this field! There’s a hard standing area by the showers I’m going to try and park on!

ordinarily I wouldn’t bother moving, but I want to get some gas, and diesel for my buyers, between Xmas and new year!

and it’s pointlesscleaning the outside of Helga up, while I’m in a mud pit!
I don’t think it’s going to be an easy move, but I shall try!

I can’t believe this rain,, I can’t remember in the last month or so, a day when it hasn’t rained! Xx

Well that’s a bit spooky!!!

Ive been asking about how to weld on here,, and I’ve just turned Youtube on my phone, and the first two videos are,, learning to weld! Have we no privacy! Lol

Think its a good idea getting off the muddy field Ian. Be good to go for a last run in Helga put some gas and fuel in for the new owner And then a good clean outside. Won’t look good if they arrive and it’s in a muddy field and you can’t get it out. (y)

you got enough bloody vehicles you have!
You sold that Edsel yet mate? X

NO... Not yet Ian.... had a load of silly offers...

Nearly as silly as £1-00 a week.... :xwink: :hugs:

When you get your flat we will be East Coast neighbours...

Only 250 miles between us... But on the East side of the country.. .:xdoh::xThumb::xrofl:

Good luck with your flat, Mate... :clap2::xThumb:

Good evening,,, Is it ever going to stop raining!!

purchaser for Helga tang today, re his insurance,, just a couple of questions, easily answered! He said that him and his wife are coming to get Helga on the 2nd of jan,, that means if all goes to plan I shall only have one night at my mates, then hopefully into flat!

I have to see the guvnor here tomorrow,, I need him to get his tractor out, so I can get of this field to a decent area, where I can clean her outside and get her ready!

I had the builders mixer in the van, and I dropped that back to him today, I have to organise tools in the van, so I have room for all my crap from Helga!

apart from the extras I’m giving with Helga, would you leave stuff like, knives and forks, cups, plates etc or just get rid? I know I’d prefer my own,, but you never know!

I’ve got a little, quiet generator I bought in Spain, when I worked on joes house, I’m wondering wether to leave that with him, or sell it! Works fine and cost me around 400 euros, works well and is really quiet,,, i havnt made my mind up yet!! We shall see!!

well I hope you had a good day at work,,
And managed to stay dry!

chat later, xxxxx

You are too easy going Ian,,will you not need cutlery etc in the van your converting? Will not the generator either be handy or raise a few quid if you sell it..You have more or less sold your Hymer so you don't need to throw sweeteners in, BUSBY.

If this is their first van then ask them if they want crockery/cutlery for free. If it's not their first then I'm sure they will already have it all.

Offer to SELL him the generator. If he doesn't want it then put it on here for sale.

Absolutely, but if I had said that he would have said I was a skinflint and left them in for spite ;)

I wonder if going down the mig welding route might not be an easier route...
