Ian and helga go south !!

I like to be in the van when it's raining as well Ian. Middle of the night, snuggly warm in bed, sleepy and content, and listening to the roof and rain symphony with accompanying plonk as the run off hits the back bumper.

Come in me smith , how can I help you??
Well actually., I have an inferiority complex, can you help

Yes. get a grip you little prick !!!
ah but you forgot, it has more to do with him frequently having a grip on his little prick that brought Mr Smith to you in the first place.....mustn't reinforce such behaviour

Well. Good evening,,,

It's still raining here in lorcha,,,
Been raining since about 10 am,

If your reading this jumartoo I'm afraid I will be here for a day or two then I will be moving on back to some sun!! I will catch you soon, I'm sure !

I had a call from Jo baker today and she is doing some training in torriviecca or whatever it's called, and she has asked if I could go and collect my birthday card!! Lol. So I will pop to see her on my way to Benidorm on Thursday!!

I'm looking foreward to Benidorm this time cause I'm hoping it may be a bit busier with a bit more open!!

I don't know where I'm going to stay yet , but I do like the sound of a couple of sites I've seen people talking about on here, I think the one I like is called el raco ?? Is it in Aires book I wonder or does anyone here have coords!!
I won't go back to where I was before cause Internet was rubbish and helga has a scar from there and I don't want to upset her!!!

But any recommends would be good?

So, I am slowly making my way back to uk,,,, I don't really know which way to go yet, again I'm undecided!!

I really want to see France, but I don't want to just drive through it quickly from bottom to top just to get home, I know I'm not in a rush but I do want to be home for end April , now if I'm happy in Benidorm for a bit I will stay for a while then I will go straight home from there!!

Now that leaves me with two decisions really,,, do I just quickly drive through France? Or do I go back up Spain and go home from Bilbao or Santander?

Now all these things have variables, like cost of diesel, tolls in France, ferry availability, Chunnel availability, so now I will ask the question ,,,,,

If I have to go home directly from Benidorm, which is the most direct, cost effective route?? ( assuming I can get ferries etc). So what do you reckon?? Xxx.

Phew decisions decisions!! Have a cuppa and wait for all the advice and help!!(y)

No problem with heading up to Benidorm, enjoy it there.

As for a route north you're with a good source of info at the moment. Have another chat with Gus!

Route North Ian through France. Drive up to Sagunto north of Valencia (I find it worth paying the relatively small toll charge on the motorway) then fork off towards Zaragoza, excellent free dual carriageway. Then I use the motorway up to Donostia. Once in France new motorway towards Bordeaux, think it is about 12 euros for the paid section, then free rest of the way.

After Bordeaux you have the choice of motorway all the way to Calais, reckon on £110 - £120 depending on Euro exchange rate, or take the N10 up to Rouen and motorway from there - that's not a lot.

I won't use the motorway along the coast past Barcelona, too many bandits around.

Lol, just catching up and a Yorshire Tea ad came on TV!!

Brewtopia apparently.

Yes mate. The Pyrenees.
I have never been that way, but TONKA has a good route (as do plenty of others on here).
We have always come up the centre of France via Carcassonne, Limoge, Poitier, Amiens, Chatre, Rouen etc. ALL on "N"roads which cost 'nowt'..
But we are "Freeloading Tossers".
You DO however get to see a lot of France and can stay on 'Aires' all the way up..
Enjoy whatever you do.
Mitch..

Yes you climb over the Pyrenees Ian but it's quite easy, the lorries go that way and you won't find it to be a problem, quite scenic too. I don't have to drop lower than 4th gear on any of the inclines.

Mike

If you cross the border from the AP7 onto the A9 just past La Jonquera, it's OK & believe me I am terrified of heights/bridges :shake::whew:

Unless it's raining that day, which will probably mean snow at the top and very little visibility, as it was for me last April.

We came that way a couple of years ago up these winding roads , you would think a donkey would be in trouble, then when we got to the top it was amazing , like a prairie, combines and lorrys and tractors all over, but they had all got up there.(y):)

Yes well ferraries do run ok. Don't they!!!

Well concreting all done, lovely day!!

No rain , no sun but no rain!!

Going to chill and get away tomorrow,, torriviecca to see Jo in the morning then on to Benidorm,, gonna try to get in at el raco? Hope I can, but if I can't I will get on somewhere!!

So going to give the famous Benidorm another go!! We will see what's going on!!!

It's been a pleasure being here at gusses again, I met Jackie, his wife this time and she is equally as nice!!

Now Gus and Jackie have had an idea and a thought about something,, and I think it's brilliant, I will tell you what it is cause I'm sure they won't mind but bear in mind ,,, at the moment it's only an idea!!!

They live in Lorca, they have a biggish house, which is already split in two!! Now there idea is that they put a small kitchen in the end of the house, ( the bit they don't use) and this is what there thinking of doing ....

For Motorhome fun users only !!
Not for big profit!!
Kept only for us on the site !!

Motorhome plug in, water, waste point etc, full workshop facilities with gusses workshop( and help , freely given) lorcha caravans local!!
Use of swimming pool
Use of washing machine
Two bedroom flat, with kitchen lounge, choice of 2 terraces for eating etc
Use of private swimming pool.
On outskirts of lorcha, half way int spain( either going or coming from Portugal, approx) Just for motorhomers,,, 25 euros a night!!!

Now they don't want to run it as a big business so lots of people turning up won't be happening, but for a couple or 3 either driving or having to work on the van, or just as a stop over,, I reckon that's a great offer,, they are very generous people and Gus has time on his hands!! I think that's a brilliant offer !! Pool, 2 bed flat, washing machine, plug in and Internet, service point to break up a journey, or just for a night or 2 out of the van ,, 25 euros,, bargain I reckon!!!!

I don't think they will mind me telling you, cause it's just a thought for now, but if you think it's a good idea, tell him !!!

Anyway speak soon, oh and Gus if you read this,, do it mate I will be back in a few months, and I would love to stay a day or two again,, not in helga!! Lol.

Xxxxxx.

Ian nice site in Calpe next door to Beni, Calpemar, plus two nice serviced Aires. Personally like Calp better loads of restaurants etc plenty to do a little bit more upmarket than Beni.

Hi pollensa, I think I went there for the day when I was in beni last, if I remember right there was a site or a big aire facing the sea across the road?? I liked it for the day,, lots of swedes and Germans and Norwegians I think? Lovely place if I remember right,, and it was as you say a bit more upmarket!! But I'm in a basic mood at the moment, and I would like to give beni a proper go for maybe a week!!
So raco ( if I get in) will do me nicely!!
