Rumour has it that you need a starting handle now
A starting cartridge like they used on the old Field Marshalls, would be more appropriate?

You tried!?!?!?!?!?I have never been able to cut a piece of steel with a banana
Only one is a lieJust in-case your wondering folks, Rocking Rivet drove over the grass to get into the parking place shown on his Avatar.
(either that or he's lying to us?)
Toured any country in mainland Europe in my Motorhome
You tried!?!?!?!?!?
True, France is Motorhome friendly but I would imagine we could be if we had a similar area of land and was less crowded. Now there is a new years resolution, right there!
Once you have toured France, you will realise exactly what a motorhome-friendly country Britain isn't!
Motorhome parking, for shopping, sights and overnight is everywhere. Clean, unvandalised, usually free and not grabbed by selfish car drivers. Italy, Belgium, Germany and Austria a bit less so, but still far friendlier than Britain (or Ireland).
I have never taken the motorhome north of the Humber.

It also helps, sadly, that large area's of Northern France was literally flattened in the last 100yrs and the planners could rebuild towns & cities with vehicles (not Horse & carts) in consideration.
I also think it's rather a rash comment by someone who admits to have only toured, in their motorhome, the South part of Britain and none of Scotland?
One should never believe all one reads.
Ah, you need to read between the lines!
I have been in a touring caravan up to Scotland several times. It was ... ok.
These days, being an old git, I want to spend my touring time feeling sun on me, drinking local wine and eating local food that hasn't been deep fried as I found was everywhere in Northern Britain.
Totally agree, except the last 2 but that was many years ago.Never have I ever:
Watched coronation street
Watched game of thrones
finished "Ulysses"
worn pyjamas
used an Uber
used deliveroo
ordered a KFC
played a game of tennis
I agree lots of nice places in Uk , no need for anyone to run our UK down if you don't like it on this island then go elsewhere , I'm also a Royalist, mind you love Spain , Germany etc. for holidays to immerse ones self in the different country side , food and cultureI think I did read between the lines, that's when I edited & added 'in their motorhome' just after I posted.
I love France, and most other places I have been to over the past 50yrs of travelling (I too am an old git ) but I believe that, apart from the overcrowding that can be avoided if, like me, you wander all year, in such a small island, Britain has a little bit of everything ( including too much sun, if last year was anything to go by) AND, at our age, if one has a medical or any other problem, I can, usually, understand most words that are being spoken.
As I have said many times before, it's good that we are not all the same and nicer for me if more & more people holiday abroad but please don't run down my adopted homeland.
Edit, as for cooking, I rarely eat out which allows me to buy the best ingredients which I then enjoy cooking and eating.

Perhaps if I lived in the crowded SE , I'd feel the same, but I don't.I wasn't. I love Britain and wouldn't live anywhere else.
I just prefer to head south for touring, not north.
Sorry but I didn't say you did run UK down did I . Happy DaysWho was running UK down?
