I have a solution for good Mobile Data (300G) whilst in Spain (then any zone 1 country)

Yes and yes… I’ve covered this in the post you are quoting. You can also contact Tiekom (Camino) and check details with her….
Sorry I didn’t see this reply from you, before I reply to another reply of you.

I've been reading this thread with interest from the first day it was started as our phone contracts, which still allow us to use data in EU (25gb limit), end in June so we may need something like this sim for the next time we go abroad later in the year. The only 'shame' is that there isn't a smaller size as 300gb is way over what we'd need and there isn't anything less although there is a larger one at 400gb for those who REALLY gobble loads of data!

I think you are looking at this slightly the wrong way. You don’t need to use 300gb, it’s up to rather than a minimum.. Where else can you get mobile data across Europe and only pay for the months you need it for €40?

There is also an unlimited tariff but it appears to include traffic shaping which is a firm no from me.

As I’ve said all along, this won’t work for everyone, but those who need unencumbered mobile data in all of zone 1, it’s a cracking deal!

I felt exactly the same way, until I realised I was quite happy to use a Smarty/Superdrug unlimited sim (before they stopped their unlimited data roaming) .
I know its double the price but hey, (virtual) unlimited, hassle free data throughout UK, France, Spain, Portugal and beyond. Sounds good to me.

No I'm not looking at it wrongly, I appreciate that €40 for 300gb is a stonking deal but if you only need say 25gb paying €40 isn't such good value.

Hey Mixny - Please read post 1 again! you are not the target demographic for this service. This is a data only SIM for a router or mifi. If you need 25g of data, just pay your uk operator to roam. You cannot fit the round peg of this service into your square hole for your 25gb usage requirements….

I know that ... I have assisted a lot of funsters in the past and continue to do so when they want help with data sims and phone sims so am not uneducated in this regard, however it doesn't mean I can't have an opinion on other options that I wish were available.

If you need 25g of data, just pay your uk operator to roam.
Which can be nearly as expensive so the option of a lower gb sim offering would be useful not just to me but others too. It may work out at about £33 a month for the sim you're talking about but that's still quite a lot to pay if you only want a bit of data.

You cannot fit the round peg of this service into your square hole for your 25gb usage requirements….
Your info and assistance will be appreciated by many but not everyone wants or needs that amount of data hence my comments.

Hi. Do you have a phone number that I can call Camino please?

Are you sure about this bit? I checked the T&Cs a couple of months ago and it said they werent.
Back in the early Nineties I worked for Megasat subsidiary Megavision selling sat systems to the public (Megasat sold to the TV companies BBC,ITV,military etc)

SKY announced that they would NEVER encrypt their TV channels when some foreign stations did

A week later they encrypted ALL their Astra channels

wouldn't trust 'em one little bit

Funnily enough they are about to change, so I'm about to leave. Bit of a shame because the service was good and the piggybank thing worked well but not the first change and probably won't be the last.

I will be emailing her tomorrow as we will be in Spain from Sunday. I am a big GB user so it will be a great deal especially as it isn’t throttled.

I am so impressed of the service she seems to provide to everyone so far. I can only dream of getting a fraction of that service from our Uk providers 😝

It genuinely is refreshing! The services is working perfectly still and we are through a billing cycle too now!

I contacted Camino yesterday and received a reply from her within 20 minutes. Equally prompt replies were received each time I emailed her with a query. I ordered a 300Gb SIM to be delivered to the UK and will use when I travel to France next week.

Thanks to Harvey / Carpmart - this looks ideal for me. Brilliant find and thanks for sharing.

We have purchased a mini router along with an antenna so we can try it it home .we have 2 x different sim providers to test with first. If it works well we will go down this route the OP has found. benefit to us would be the fact that we can take it with us in the van to use when away rather than having to buy data sims whilst still having to pay 30€/month fof the WiFi at home whilst away for anything up to 6 months.
Hopefully the stuff arrives today and we can test it.

Yep I’m going to have to leave too and will have to get a new phone contract provider! ☹️

So, as with many, I’m the type of person who just ‘needs’ ubiquitous high bandwidth WiFi always available. The challenge for many this year has been with Brexit, the type of unlimited data roaming enjoyed before, is no longer available.

There have been numerous topics on this for the last few months; with creative solutions to getting 20-30G of data, none of these work for me as I need 200-300G a month, just to get on and do whatever we went.

Anyway, my searching and searching has finally turned up what I think is perfect. I’ve been using it for two days now in Spain and all seems to be working as advertised.

In basic terms, it’s non throttled (save for signal challenges) so up to 150mb download, 300Gb per month, rolling one month commitment, it’s on Vodafone ES and less than €40 per month. Yes that’s correct, zero commitment, no topping up, 300 Gigabyte for <€40 per month!!!!

I’m using the data SIM in my Netgear router, it was a very simple set-up and registration process and they very kindly supplied me with two sims so I can use another on my next visit to Spain. They couriered to my campsite in Spain and the customer service I received and the instant replies to messages was simply fantastic.

The company is Tiekom based in Madrid. They have completed everything with me via email, from initial contact, through ordering to setup etc. https://tiekom.com/internet-at-home/data-sim/

The person I have been dealing with is Camino and she’s been absolutely fantastic, super responsive, fantastic English and made everything incredibly easy! You can email her at: sales@tiekom.com

I have no association whatsoever with this company or this person, but I’ve been genuinely impressed with the service. Please do mention me to Camino if you reach out to her, as she and Teikom have just the product and service we need in Spain and I promised that if Teikom did what they advertised, that I would recommend her to others, so the association of me to your enquiries would allow me to fulfil on that promise.

So, the final point is a cautionary one. I’ve been using this for two days now, 22Gigabytes ‘only’ so it’s still early days. I shall update after the first few weeks and months use. Im also planning on using this for three weeks in France (zone1) whilst I'm fishing on the way home, so will be another good test.

Anyway, a long post, but for several could be a very useful one as we have all been struggling to find the sort of data usage we all expect these days when travelling!
Harvey

PS - For testing purposes, we have watched several Netflix and Amazon movies in 1080HD, used a hooky Sky streaming service on my Amazon Firestick again streamed in HD (I do pay for a full sky package so I’m not really stealing any content from Sky, just using the best solution whilst travelling) and browsed content on phones and MacBooks etc.
Hi Carpmart. Is this package still working for you? I'm trying to find a solution for a house I have on Ibiza. The big fiber company's in Spain are all absolutely useless and I've been really ripped off by Orange now Movistar promised a router 10 days ago and nothing. So in the meantime I've used a hotspot on my UK mobile. I'm getting good signal and service but I'm subject to the fair usage cap when roaming so looking for a permanent solution to get rid of these awful fibre providers. I've been googling like mad to find a data SIM and came across this thread. I did find another company Lobster but I'm getting really confused now. Any advice as to matters and what sort of SIM router I should get

I had posted earlier about Free Mobile but have decided to sign up with Camino. Thank you Carpmart!

For anyone wondering which countries are included in Zone 1, Camino listed the following:
Albania, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, French Caribbean, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Kosovo, Reunion, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malt, Monaco, Norway, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom of Great Britain, Czech Rep., Romania, San Marino (Republic of), Sweden, Spain, Switzerland / Liech. Turkey

If you have decent 4G coverage at your house then you can indeed move away from fixed fibre and use 4G as an alternative… may I suggest you reach out to Camino at Teikom and she will be able to assist you with a 4G solution to your problem.

Excellent. I think it’s a good choice. I always force my roaming off Free when I’m France as I find the coverage very poor compared to the other providers.

I contacted Camino regarding the 19.90€ deal and got this very prompt reply

That is a shame re the poor signal, as the €19.90 50Gb sim would have been the one for us, as we don't use much data when out in the MH, either in the UK or abroad, and we wouldn't be making calls from it either. I need to replace the Vodafone 100Gb sim which expires end of May/June, which only cost us £8.00pcm after cash back.

Cheers

Jock. :)

I’m not sure if she was meaning poor signal in uk or all over, I will email her again and ask and report back
