I have a solution for good Mobile Data (300G) whilst in Spain (then any zone 1 country)

Just last week signed up with NORDVPN for a 2 year deal, cheaper that way.
It's good for at home when you need to watch southern hemisphere TV or certain US TV stations.
Plan to use it over the next couple of months on the continent for ITV and BBC catchup via the server in London.
Nord have far more servers around the world than anyone else, on my PC it's set to boot up to the desktop when PC starts, just pick your server and forget it till the next time you boot up.
Plus you can switch it on or off on your iPhones or laptops.

Nord is goo (I have it) but I'm finding I have to frequently turn it off to access sites where they are checking if a VPN is used. Its ok to turn it back on again once access. Is it just me?
This can happen, I get it sometimes and either turn off the VPN (as you do) or choose another VPN Server ID in the same country as I'm wanting to be from. Nord have loads of different VPN server ID's for the UK(guess the same for all other counties they act for) and sometimes just choosing a different one gets you through the checks any destinations websites perform. Useful if you get blocked but "need" to use the VPN to get the service.

Talking to Adam of Motorhome WiFi at the NEC he confirmed that using a VPN will not prevent UK based sim card providers charging you the roaming rate. They have a useful table on their website news section showing all the main sim card for roaming and their rules. Not yet fully up to date with Sky changes (they are just a bit busy at the NEC!) but a useful table. https://www.motorhomewifi.com/expert-advice/2022-sim-cards/

Not up to date with Tesco either.

Carpmart how are you paying on a monthly basis, did you need a Spanish address?

Morning - no Spanish address needed. I do have a Euro account to pay from.
Is the Euro account essential or can they do a reoccurring charge on a credit card?

Sounds like the kind of problem which could be resolved with a quality outdoor roof mounted directional antenna and a nice mobile router (Netgear or similar) install.
Or they could replace the antenna destroyed in the earthquake in 2011 ?

I’m sure they probably can, reach out to Camino and ask her. Email address in the original post. 👍🏻
One more question please - on the form where it asks for insallation address, did you put anything in here or ignore it?

Ignored it! 👍🏻

Just ask Camino if unsure, she’s incredibly responsive!

Have been exchanging emails with her and I now have username and password, just need to wait for the sim to arrive. I assume once I have the sim and sign into the website, all will become clear about making payments etc.

Thanks for the info and help.

Yes indeed, although I haven’t seen a payment leave my account yet! 👍🏻

No problem re information etc..

I gave them my UK issued Santander Zero (no overseas fees) card number and expiry date. Our 300gb of data is up and running perfectly. All praise to Harvey Carpmart
Fabulous, hopefully ours will arrive today.

Just as follow on to this thread. We are 9–10 days into using this service now. It really is as good as advertised. Up to just over 90 gigabytes of data used and all is working perfectly and as hoped for. 👌

I received a very nice message from Camino, so thanks to all those that referenced me in their comms with her! 👍🏻😎

If others take the service, please do let me know. She will see if she can put together some kind of package for us MoHo users if there is sufficient demand, which could be quite nice!

Will do. We might drop down to the Mar Menor to see the walking wounded after we have been to Archena. If we do it will be nice to meet you if you are still there.
Here for a couple of weeks still… feels like we have planted roots!! 🤪

Thanks for this. We are on the tunnel tomorrow and will be looking at setting this up when we get in to Spain 😊

I understand that this is a rolling one month, no commitment deal but how does that work in practice, please? Let's say I go away for two weeks in March and then again for two weeks in July. Do I still have to pay for April, May and June? Or do I just pay for March and July? I'm sorry to sound so dumb (even after reading through all the posts on this!) but I can't understand how it works in practice. Also, can I check my usage online or is it by an app, please? Thank you to anyone who can help :)

Let me try and answer… It’s a Spanish data sim, meant to go into a router or mifi device to create WiFi. My Netgear router and indeed all mifi devices track how many gig you have used in a resettable period. You track your usage through this function.

This is not a sim for your phone. You could use it in your phone, but it’s a data only sim.

If used in a mifi, router etc then when one is with the vehicle (proximity to) then one can avail oneself of the WiFi afforded by this data sim through connecting as with any other WiFi service. When away from the vehicle and or close proximity I’m using my phones mobile data.

I’m unsure if there is an app etc as for the above reasons I wouldn’t use (or need) one.

My current understanding is that on the day I no longer need the service I contact Teikom (Camino) the service is ended. I’m going to do this whilst in France for three weeks after time on Spain. When I return in order to activate the service again I will need to be in Spain (Spanish sim) but I can then roam again in all tier 1 countries..

Does this answer your questions and make sense?

Thank you, Harvey. So, to re-start the service each time you need to physically be in Spain. That's a shame. I was hoping to use this service but my trips can head off in any direction (from France), so I wouldn't always be able to go to Spain first. My only option then seems to be to pay every month, whether I'm using it or not. Is that right, please?

I have also contacted the company and they are sending out my SIM cards and I have accessed the private area of the website using the password etc they sent out. I made sure I passed on details of how I came to find their service!

From my correspondence with them you can pay for only the months you want. To start and stop the service this is what they emailed to me:

“You only have to send a mail to sales@tiekom.com asking to stop the service when you need.

I can send you some sim cards to use when you want. You only have to give me the ICC number and I will activate the sim card when you come back again to Spain”.

Can anybody confirm if I actually need to be in Spain to ‘activate’ the sim or if they can do it remotely? I am travelling thru France first and wanted to be able to use the service enroute to Spain.

I also can’t find the section on the website where I can upload payment details?
