Is it a smart tv or a firestick you are using? If it's a firestick you can download a vpn, that may work.I have a question re iPlayer and ITV Hub - am connected using the data sim to Vodafone UK on my wifi router but iPlayer and ITV hub insist I am out of the country and weon’t play - detecting the Spanish SIM card I guess. s there any way around this on my TV? I can use a VPN on my laptop or iPad but not so easy on the TV?

Spanish SIM card connected to Vodafone UK - I think the solution is to put a VPN on a fire stickIs it a Spanish sim card or Vodfone UK?
How on earth do you connect two sim cards? Surely you must be using one or the other.Spanish SIM card connected to Vodafone UK - I think the solution is to put a VPN on a fire stick
It's a Spanish sim card roaming on the Vodafone network, it's not two separate sim cards. How on earth do you connect two sim cards? Surely you must be using one or the other.
So iPlayer etc see a Spanish IP address, you need a VPN.It's a Spanish sim card roaming on the Vodafone network, it's not two separate sim cards.
I used Spanish data SIM card in my mifi. Downloaded norton vpn to tv using a download app and was able to use fire stick for iPlayer etc. Occasionally I had to refresh vpn to log in to iPlayer but it ran with no issues.I have a question re iPlayer and ITV Hub - am connected using the data sim to Vodafone UK on my wifi router but iPlayer and ITV hub insist I am out of the country and weon’t play - detecting the Spanish SIM card I guess. s there any way around this on my TV? Yes you do. Several companies sell a VPN specifically for the firestick, Express are good. https://www.expressvpn.com/vpn-software/vpn-fire-tv-stick-1Spanish SIM card connected to Vodafone UK - I think the solution is to put a VPN on a fire stick
Do you have to sign in to BBC iplayer or other tv apps like All4 and ITV or does watchuktvanywhere pull all the channels and catch up together - rather like a sky box ? It’s not very clear from their website, it sounds like it’s just a vpn?Sorted - downloaded VPNScout on the LG TV from the App Store on the fire stick and subscribed to watchuktvanywhere - works a treat with a decent signal on the wifi router
Thanks, but I find that I have to sign in to the apps on a regular basis, not only the BBC1 one. I had to again just this morning, they put a code on the screen and i have to sign in on ipad or computer, and enter the code from the screen in order to proceed. This is using a firestick at home so wifi is constant and of course uk based. It is just a VPN
Once you have VPNSCout installed it automatically finds the VPN and you hit connect (or just use the voice control - open VPNScout)
Then back to your normal Home Screen on your fire stick and select BBC, ITV etc - first time only you will be asked to sign in - after that it remembers you
My tv and firestick are unplugged and stored whilst travelling but I have no issues with signing in when I reach site and set up the tv, having said that I do have netflix and iplayer etc. on my phone and tablet so perhaps when the firestick logs on to the Internet the netflix/iplayer server can see those devices and does not require a full sign in with password etc.See this link Link
Is the fire stick remaining powered or a yiu switching it off - probably needs power to maintain the details
Also this seems not to be a firestixk issue necessarily as apparently some TVs do it and it may be the tv and not the firestixk at all
"f you're being asked to sign in to your BBC account each time you use BBC iPlayer, it's most likely because cookies are switched off on your browser or device." so says the BBC web site. Thanks, but I find that I have to sign in to the apps on a regular basis, not only the BBC1 one. I want to find something very easy for my sister.
Was there any mention of data capping outside of Spain at all? Reason I ask is I used a Vodafone ES happily throughout Spain but when crossed back into France was hit with this text inferring they apply the same fair usuals cap outside the home country, it still worked fine but was capped just like a UK SIM would have been at 25GBSo, as with many, I’m the type of person who just ‘needs’ ubiquitous high bandwidth WiFi always available. The challenge for many this year has been with Brexit, the type of unlimited data roaming enjoyed before, is no longer available.
There have been numerous topics on this for the last few months; with creative solutions to getting 20-30G of data, none of these work for me as I need 200-300G a month, just to get on and do whatever we went.
Anyway, my searching and searching has finally turned up what I think is perfect. I’ve been using it for two days now in Spain and all seems to be working as advertised.
In basic terms, it’s non throttled (save for signal challenges) so up to 150mb download, 300Gb per month, rolling one month commitment, it’s on Vodafone ES and less than €40 per month. Yes that’s correct, zero commitment, no topping up, 300 Gigabyte for <€40 per month!!!!
I’m using the data SIM in my Netgear router, it was a very simple set-up and registration process and they very kindly supplied me with two sims so I can use another on my next visit to Spain. They couriered to my campsite in Spain and the customer service I received and the instant replies to messages was simply fantastic.
The company is Tiekom based in Madrid. They have completed everything with me via email, from initial contact, through ordering to setup etc. https://tiekom.com/internet-at-home/data-sim/
The person I have been dealing with is Camino and she’s been absolutely fantastic, super responsive, fantastic English and made everything incredibly easy! You can email her at: sales@tiekom.com
I have no association whatsoever with this company or this person, but I’ve been genuinely impressed with the service. Please do mention me to Camino if you reach out to her, as she and Teikom have just the product and service we need in Spain and I promised that if Teikom did what they advertised, that I would recommend her to others, so the association of me to your enquiries would allow me to fulfil on that promise.
So, the final point is a cautionary one. I’ve been using this for two days now, 22Gigabytes ‘only’ so it’s still early days. I shall update after the first few weeks and months use. Im also planning on using this for three weeks in France (zone1) whilst I'm fishing on the way home, so will be another good test.
Anyway, a long post, but for several could be a very useful one as we have all been struggling to find the sort of data usage we all expect these days when travelling!

PS - For testing purposes, we have watched several Netflix and Amazon movies in 1080HD, used a hooky Sky streaming service on my Amazon Firestick again streamed in HD (I do pay for a full sky package so I’m not really stealing any content from Sky, just using the best solution whilst travelling) and browsed content on phones and MacBooks etc.
Nor me. Only used in France & UK, no issues at all.I haven’t had a problem outside Spain
Update - I received the SIM cards from Camino and arranged for the service to start on 1st July (Vodaphone contract ended 30th June).
Initially I was flummoxed as the Huawei mifi wanted me to enter the PIN. After a bit of head scratching I reread this thread to see how others had resolved this. Bingo! I simply had to put the SIM in a phone to disable the PIN lock and then put it in the Huawei mifi (in case anyone else has this issue - the PIN is on the original SIM pop out ).
It then connected immediately and I didn't need to touch the APN settings.
All sorted - thank you all!
