Hedgehogs are still about….

I love those video clips. :h:

My neighbour who is a dog owner with 2 of the most stupid dogs on the planet wants to block up the little tunnel under my back fence. A tunnel that the hedgehogs dug so they can expand their range.

I also have a hog house close to that fence, but there has never been any sign of hedgehog occupation. Maybe a result of the incredible amount of dog noise - they bark at anything and everything inluding me when I am in my own garden. Big nuisance.

Now that does surprise me what with hedgepigs being nocturnal.... magpies shouldn't be around in the dark..... should they??
I saw the hedgehog on our drive one early morning. An hour or so later, I saw the hedgehog being attacked by several magpies. This was the result ….

This is what happens when you block the gap in the fence…… ;)

And a photo of the cameras in ‘Hedgehog Corner’……

(and a LED light)

Last September in Normandy we watched a very small hedgy in a wooded glade for 15 minutes, scrabbling around and oblivious to us and other things. It was really hot, too. It made our day. In our last house in Rowlands Castle, we had regular hedgy visitors. So noisy! But that was more than 15 years ago. We've not seen any since, except the one in France.

This little chap/chapess(?) seems to have taken up residence - popped-out this morning before 7…..

….and then back a few minutes later…

Starlings finishing-off the calci worms this morning……. ;)

We have a hedgehog feeding house, put food out which went but wasn’t sure if being taken by squirrels, birds, rats or hedgehogs 🤔

Delighted to confirm tonight that at least some of the food is being consumed by the intended animals 👍😁

My neighbour popped by today, they're going to Ireland for a week could we feed the hedgehogs for him, then my daughter came by, can we look after the kids for a couple of days, then after that they're going to Blackpool and London so can we feed the cat.
My wife bones me afterwards with, Don't they know it's Easter coming up?:(

Put out a second Hog House yesterday. Some interest last night/this morning, but none have ventured inside (yet)……

They’ve no respect for my camera…..! ;)

Another little ‘visitor’…… ;)

My Son has a large area to the rear of his property that he piles tree branches and so on to create a sanctuary for Hedgehogs and the like, they are rarely seen but last week he spotted one in the general garden area it has coincided with his Dog coming in with the odd Tick, the poor Dog is now banned from the garden.
Looking to possibly clearing the area and spraying with a good dose of Cedar Oil.

Time to relocate this camera, I think………

Taking in some ‘reading materials’ this morning…….. ;)

‘Get off my land!’ ;)

with all the activity taking bedding inside, i would hazard a very strong guess that you'll have babies in at least one of those hog houses, and goodness me, they are just the cutest things you'll ever see when they first venture out with mum..

.

Shall we dance……? ;)

Did this hedgehog have a lucky escape…….?!?
