Broken Link RemovedI wish
Ha! we have exactly the same set up. Fun innit! We have an oil Rayburn which has proven very tricky and even now after spending a fortune on it can be hit and miss if it heats properly. Thank goodness for our wood burners which have kept downstairs lovely and warm (and I suppose for the trees who sacrificed themselves during the last three storms)
I have always got a price locally significantly below that of Boilerjuice, so much for their adverts saying they match the cheapest in your area. This morning Boilerjuice had shot up to 130p from 120p yesterday - bonkers
Looked online for local suppliers and found some at 107p so bought 500 litres to keep us going.
Looks like Boilerjuice is driving up prices, so will shop around next time
I was locked in with Bristol Energy but they have gone under so have been transferred to British Gas at nearly three times more than I was paying.Luckily I did not see the logic or take the advice of Martin Lewis the Money Saving Expert, to sit it out and see what happens with energy prices, and I too locked in for two years last October.
I meant I wish I had gold to sellBroken Link Removed
How would one do that please ?Anyone considering a log burner should work out how much heat they need and don't buy one larger.
How would one do that please ?
You can get online heat loss calculators that size radiators. I just used Google to find them, input the type and size of room. How would one do that please ?
Boiler juice are useless. I’ve been getting their emails/ offers for years and always do better elsewhere, like you. Can’t understand why anyone deals with them!I have always got a price locally significantly below that of Boilerjuice, so much for their adverts saying they match the cheapest in your area.
Sorry, but if it means going cold due to sky high prices of oil and gas then the climate can go and do one.Wood burners not good for the climate
It's correct, as are gas wall and hearth fires and open fires.I don't see that wood burners can possibly be 'not allowed in new build houses'
Yes,unfortunately I think a lot of people think the same,as do I. I’m surprised no one has been whinging about the carbon nasties now being created in Ukraine. Mr Putin, please use environmentally friendly shells in your tanks,it’s only a matter of time before the Green Party join the war………or maybe not.Sorry, but if it means going cold due to sky high prices of oil and gas then the climate can go and do one.
Yes, thinking of an alternative heat source for next winter, I don't fancy being held to ransom by uncertain gas suppliesA modern 5kw stove will heat a large lounge on its own even in a poorly insulated property.
If you have good insulation, double or triple double glazing and a modern central heating boiler a woodburner would be not needed, more of an alternative heating source.
Every property is different and your local stove supplier should advise.
Hope that helps.
You'll need a chainsaw, a trailer, and a little patience waiting for the next storm to blow down a few trees. The wood burner has probably saved us quite a few quid this winter. Now where do we get the free logs
It's correct, as are gas wall and hearth fires and open fires.
Gas boilers ((for now) and heat source pumps are the only forms now allowed
Charnwood makes excellent wood burners , manufactured in the Isle of Wight I believe , so free of the made in China label which is a great plus to meI have only oil and a couple of woodburners. Try Clearview I have had many different makes over the years and these are the best clean burners by far.
That sounds good to meOr you could stay at Woodside Field for a weekend, maybe help out on the wood chipper or pile up fallen branches in the woods, and maybe we will let you take a trailer of logs home.
We are having a wood burner put in later this spring. We rely on oil.I'm thinking of getting a wood burner fitted for next winter as we're fully reliant on gas for heat , I can see gas shortages or rationing if you can afford it
Charnwood yes? Very good quality , so efficient, I am only using half the logs since I replaced my villager with a Charnwood, very controllable also mine is multi fuel so pressed coal is great too, throws out enormous heat if neededProbably will be soon but we’d been looking for a couple of months before we moved and the cost didn’t seem to have gone up by much from then, can’t say what they were a year ago though. We could buy a cheap Chinese one for half the price but decided to support a British (based in Isle of Wight) manufacturer.
I should check your contract for the precise terms of the supply contract looking especially but not only for force majeur clauses which may allow them to cancel or alter the terms of the contract if circumstances, outside of the supplier’s control, prevent them fulfilling the contract. Such as war in the Ukraine. What a nightmare!
I ordered 1000 litres on 23/2 with Boilerjuice at 64p a litre for delivery on the 9/3. I paid the total sum by credit card.
I received an email today to inform me that the supplier used by Boilerjuice could not deliver the oil tomorrow and Boilerjuice had now cancelled my order.
I ordered oil with a local supplier today and paid125p a litre for 1000 litres to be delivered today.
This afternoon I made some enquiries with the supplier Boilerjuice were going to use. They are still supplying oil with a 10-15 day wait. They stated that Boilerjuice had stopped processing orders on the 7/3 and whilst my order was showing on their system, Boilerjuice had not paid them. The conversation was recorded.
Furthermore, the total price would depend on oil prices on the day of delivery.
Basically, Boilerjuice have been caught out lying.
In my opinion, Boilerjuice have broken their contract and should compensate me for the difference I paid for the oil today.
I would appreciate your views?
I have got no problem with that but the fact they lied in their email regarding the supplier and the supplier has confirmed this fact shows that there is not a lack of oil but it is down to price.I should check your contract for the precise terms of the supply contract looking especially but not only for force majeur clauses which may allow them to cancel or alter the terms of the contract if circumstances, outside of the supplier’s control, prevent them fulfilling the contract. Such as war in the Ukraine.
