Globecar Modifications

I wouldn't bother painting the spoiler, it will just look naff and tatty. Our PVC, not a globecar, has something similar although it isn't by Fiamma but it looks fine in the original cream - it matches the window.

I think I'll go black John as a white-only spoiler will look a bit odd on a maroon and black van.

I bought the fiamma one about 6 months ago and it's still in the shed :)

I've seen them for £21 so once I get one then we can have a race on who fits and paints it first :D

There's too much noise coming from the roof for my liking so I do need to reduce it before the next trip.

I’ve never noticed any wind noise from our Campscout roof Andrew but plenty inside the cab.:D

I was waiting until I bought Mirror guards then I was going to get the mate to paint them for me, just never got round to it so my money is on you. :)

We don't have just wind in our camper, with 3 dogs its more like gale force 9!!!! :censored:

Seriously though for wind getting in check out the rear roof vent, it really does let it in especially when travelling, but even when stationary it is very draughty.:cold:

If we have a Globecar Funster meet next year then I'm not coming over to your vans - we can sit outside in the rain :D

@Minxy Girl @Neckender (Trumpa-Lumpas):D:D

Well mine is now at dealers :D2 so, if you do organise a Globie meet we have a dog that produces plenty of wind so would be in good company!

Are you organising a Globecar meet next year then Andrew @Blue Knight .

John.

I think it would be a great idea John but it would need to be after May by my reckoning; i.e. that will give Liz's @Grianan dealer enough time to PDI her new Globecar and then hand it over to her:D

Joking aside, I would love to meet the people who have so often appeared on the photo boards of Crimewatch-UK, so bring it on (y)

Show off!!:D

I like the term 'Globie Meet' (y)........

"Globies" having a meet sounds like a good idea but could also meet up at existing rallies (y) next year especially if not everyone can make that one. Know many interest groups already do that.

I'm not keen on socialising with the riff raff though Karen. Will there be any Autotrails there as I'll come out in a rash if there is:rolleyes:

Are you jinxing me? He’s got flu now so still not managed to speak to him to finalise bits and pieces we want doing before pick up!

Team,

I fitted the VB-air bellows and gauges today (Not the lines though - too cold (n)) and it was a fairly easy job.

I did need to remove the waste tank pipe as it lies directly under the rear jack point and I had to raise the body by 35mm to get the bellows to slide in smoothly.

@Neckender John, I can see now why you run a pressure of just over 1-bar as opposed to my 3-bar when I had a 2.8m overhang on the Pilote. I had an 8mm gap left over between the chassis and the spring assisters and it's only loaded to circa 3.1T, so I can see the 8mm gap reducing to virtually nothing when fully loaded.

The VB Air will certainly save my springs.

Calling All Globecar owners with Gaslow.

I'm having a Gaslow system fitted next Tuesday with 2 x 11kg bottles, auto changeover reg and an external filler point.

The dealer has mentioned that they routinely drill the metal body panel to help fit the refill point but I quite like the idea of what Mel did @Minxy Girl with the point in the lower rear plastic bumper.

Here's a pic of my gas cabinet with 1 x 6kg calor bottle test fitted.

Can anyone see and reason why I shouldn't direct it to the rear of the bumper.

Cheers,

Andrew

There’s no reason at all Andrew I have also fitted my fill point in the bumper and fitted barbi pointto the side no metal drilling at all, It might be more time consuming though for the dealer. Expand my picture and you will see filler and barbi point.

cant they take it through the drop out and mount under the rear?

That’s how I took mine I had to cut the thin aluminium anti splash plate to get the hose through to the bumper.

Ours runs through the drop pout and the BBQ point and filler are mounted under the van by the in front of the rear wheels.
No drilling of the van

John.

Do you have a close-up of tour set-up John as I may need to use it as a reference guide for the dealer. They just want to go straight through the metal as mentioned.

Cheers(y)

Andrew

No room for an under slung tank Andrew? That would free up a nice bit of storage.

That's a good idea Paul but on this occassion I'm getting the Gaslow system for free, including fitting so who am I to argue :xgrin:.........:xThumb:

Did I hear free :xeek::xlaugh:

Yep, totally free Rob. How's that for good value.:xThumb:

The story: My new Globecar came with a Truma 6 (not the E version) instead of the Truma 4E as per the UK spec list, so I was offered an option of a replacement boiler or a Gaslow system.

I have to commend SMC in Newark for rectifying this wee issue in such a fantastic manner.

This is our 2nd van from them and I'm sure we'll be back again for a third.

So I take it not much difference in boilers hence opting for the gaslow :xThumb:
