Germany/Austria August/September information sharing.

Arrived home and a £72.50 Dartford crossing PCN waiting for me. Paid the fine and asked them to explain why my dartford account was closed which had credit in it ! Have opened another one and wait for the reply. A complete mystery ???
If you do not use a crossing or top it up within a 12 months period they close it.
i haven't used mine since september 2019 & they emailed me to state that I either had to cross or top up or close & give details of where the refund was to be sent.

Thanks for that ! At least I now understand what and why !

Happened to us because we hadn't used it. Got the email during lockdown and forgot to cancel the account. Finally got round to contacting them about a refund beginning of last month and got a reply from them to say details had been passed to their Finance Department for refund. Still waiting for it!

didn't really make much sense to go via Aachen
It did for some of us though Paul, ie, the need to refuel in Germany, (and obtain a receipt to show last fuel stop ;) ), as not able to make Calais in one hit from the Mosel via Luxembourg, which came back on the UK's naughty list. Coming down that way was fine, as not on Germany's naughty list, but not going back up.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

If you call them, they will likely cancel the penalty, they've cancelled one for me before, and a guy I work with has had 3 or 4 cancelled.

Having a couple of nights on SP at Fussen. Relatively busy. Nearly all German vans. Doing the Schlosses tomorrow. Weather reasonable for October.

Visited the Speyer museum last month, huge place even has a Russian Space Shuttle on display
We also stayed on the Stellplatze however, get in there early as it got rammed later in the day BTW its next to the municipal airport runway, great if you're a plane buff.

Just read this post. Timely, as we were at the Speyer museum this morning! We stayed overnight at the museum site - €24. Worth a visit if passing nearby. We are heading for Trier tomorrow.

It's quite a nice town but very busy when I walked in on Friday

It's good for a night but there are a least 50 vans here tonight. We going to try and get a bus to the Fortress tomorrow.
To be honest we are visiting for my birthday a restaurant near to there but just to be sure we shall arrive on the Friday to ensure we get a spot For the Saturday night meal.

Its because we had no plan after visiting the dealer. Looked at Vertuskey and followed the highest temperatures anywhere close to where we were. Were looking at Poland but the quarentine on returning to Germany may change that. Waiting to see how you get on 😂

That’s the one I think we shall use. Seems the sensible option.
Take the right hand entry lane, as there is a ticket machine is at A Class height. ;)
It can be quite noisy down by the flyover (for obvious reasons), but also because the buses parked under there come and go at varying unearthly times. ;)
It is €12 per 24hrs. We left not long after the 24hrs were up, and paid €15.

Enjoy your birthday meal out. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Arrived back in West Germany today at Wurzburg. Still busy, the city centre site is packed although 95% German. They must have a late start due to Covid. Very busy in town but most folks are behaving.

If you are still there and have time, visit the Wurzburg Residence. €8.0 for pensioners. You will be blown away.

I plan to drink enough that my ears stop working so the noise shouldn't be a problem.

Have you visited Colditz Castle on this trip? They do guided tours and it is absolutely fascinating.
There used to be a large carpark at the bottom of the hill leading to the Castle where we parked our Motorhome.

No, but if I had realised we were that close I would have. Time yet though 👍.

Fussen to Garmisch Partenkirchen today. Beautiful morning. Stunning Alpine views with fresh snow on the tops. SP half full. Lindenhof tomorrow and hopefully Zugspitz on Thursday with a better forecast.

A good luck around Potsdam today. Knees and hips now buggered!

If anyone fancies the steps up to the top of St Nicolai tower be warned it is not for anyone of a more 'portly' build!

I don't suppose there's anyone up around the Dortmund area is there ?

Lenny HB is up around there in hospital and could do with a little assistance if anyone close by.
Sadly, I'm not in a position to help (back in the UK), but fingers crossed for someone coming forward. 🤞 🤞 🤞

Lenny HB. I hope things are going as well as they can for you Lenny. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)
