Germany/Austria August/September information sharing.

Can't understand why people avoid Brussels, came around it at about 4:30pm on Monday and had no problem, only once had about 10 minutes delay on a Saturday morning.
Are you serious?? EVERY time I’ve come round the Brussels RO it’s been stop start with huge traffic jams, sometimes at a standstill, mainly on the way HOME (every year sometimes twice a year) luckily for us We was on the Harley so we could filter through the chaos, the approx times was between 2-3pm en route to the Zeebrugge ferry👍

Never had more than about 10 minutes delay, compared to m25 etc it's a doddle.

No issues when we came back the other day. The M60 around manchester is worse.

Luck of the draw..Saw a tailback heading into Brussells of 20 odd miles once,,thankfully we were going the other way,,BUSBY.

No problems for me on Thursday. In fact the roads were really quiet all the way from Aachen. Covid maybe?

Spent 2 nights in the centre of Dresden. Lovely city, lots to see and a compact centre with many old and restored buildings after WWII.

Those of you in Germany be aware of this.
Germany imposes local lockdown on Alpine hotspot

Germany is putting the Bavarian municipality of Berchtesgadener Land under lockdown from 2pm today, as the picturesque Alpine region becomes the country’s main coronavirus hotspot.
Schools, nurseries and restaurants will remain closed from today and after 2pm residents will not be allowed to leave their homes unless they have a strong reason to do so, such as work commitments, groceries shopping or outdoor exercise. The local lockdown is the first of its kind in Bavaria since April.
Berchtesgadener Land, a 320 square mile region that is home to the Watzmann massif and a population of some 100,000 people, is currently seeing the highest seven-day incidence of Covid-19 in Germany, with 272,8 new infections per 100,000 residents over the space of a week.

Suggestions please. We are just coming to the end of the Romatic Road we have done it south to north so will be in Wurzburg on Thursday then we need some suggestions of where to go. We have a couple of weeks left before we head home. We have already done Reil down the Mosel, Black Forest and Lake Constance and then up RR. We were thinking of heading back towards Rhine/Mosel and travelling up towards Aachen for final home leg but we are open to suggestions. We are avoiding large cities for obvious reasons. Any suggestions greatly received. Many thanks

Went in there Sat afternoon with our new van we collected from Bavaria bit of fun going through the residential streets in a near 9m van and then they had a hole dug up right in the entrance.
Very happy warden though and very chilled😁
Are you driving back on 3rd party insurance?

You were born with a silver spoon.
Anyone going around Brussels must be barking it makes the M25 look like a fast race track.

We did a very similar route to you. From Wurzburg we went across to Heidelberg and then up to the Mosel. Stayed on the SP at Wintrich, which was excellent. Right on the river bank. Room at most SPs on the Mosel. Sites were asking for Covid tests. Aachen is worth visiting if only for the Dom. Which is a stunner! The Altstadt is very pleasant for a wander.
Got back last night. Had a great trip and were very pleased we decided to go.

a German on our stellplatz just told us we shouldn’t be here ! Husband explained we have been in Germany three weeks and his attitude changed but I am concerned that we are likely to get stopped more and challenged. Everyone so far has been so nice and this man wasn’t rude but it is a bit disconcerting

tell him to do one?

Makes you wonder doesn't it? When you compare what the east germans did with Dresden and what we did with Coventry- different mindset?

Yes Lenny, nearly 700 miles😬😬
German 3rd party until the tunnel then NFU 3rd party to home.
Not the best way to drive in a foreign country😁
Well done, brave man.

Left Nuremburg today after visiting the War Trial exhibition and sitting in Room 600 where all the big trials have taken place.

Bit disappointed that all the texts were only in German but a downloadable audio description for the major slides via the website

Moved onto Wurzburg, stopping on the river right into the city.

Lovely looking buildings and a nice feel to the area.

Another city - more churches, I'm nearly churched out!
