Gareth & Phil have fun in Spain 2025.

Looks delicious and I’m sure it tasted as good as it looks.

A good friend and fellow GP was given a voucher for a meal at Rick Stein restaurant in Padstowe for a wedding anniversary quite a few years ago. Her husband was a Pathologist at the time. They made a weekend of it. They had a nice meal but both woke fairly early with abdominal pain and severe D&V . It was really bad and later they thought they ought to notify the Restaurant. Whoever replied was very rude and said it can’t have been their Restaurant and it must have been a bug. Not the response to my Belfast friend!

She was very annoyed, reported them to Public Health, they investigated, loads of customers had been affected and the Restaurant had to close . Can’t remember how long for but it was a matter of 2 or 3 weeks I think.

As Christine said, if they’d said terribly sorry, how awful, we’ll send you a voucher for a bottle of wine when you dine with us again (not that they would) she would have felt mollified. They crossed the wrong lady that day!

Have you tried making it with cottage cheese? Not quite as cheesy as cheddar/parmesan.
I love cheese Janine so if I’m going to make it it’s going to be cheesy! I’m not a fan of cottage cheese. I used to work in the Unigate lab during my Uni holidays and we used to have to sample vats of it. Once you’ve seen swimming pool sized vats churning over and over it’s most unappealing. The smell is awful

They experimented with making parmesan as well but it was too crumbly. Tasted good though. We’d sneak big chunks home. We were supposed to destroy the huge wedges after we’d taken a tiny sample. Sackable offense but no-one checked!

We

Love the chesse, I actually cut up of whole permesan ball for the top and it worked a treat.
I may try some cottage cheese next time, what does it add apart from been healthy
It melts slightly and makes a light cheesy white sauce.

Well done Gareth, another great home made success on a plate, with a great Rioja Reserva also, a match made in heaven.(y)
Home Made Lasagne is one of those dishes, like Curries or Stews, that any leftovers always seem better than the original serving the next day, when they have matured in the fridge and re-heated.
But, I guess with your appetites and portion sizes there is not often any chance of that happening eh?;):giggle:

I seldom find I have any room left for a pudding after a home cooked main course, as I am truly stuffed, whereas TinaL would leave some of her dinner to make sure she had room left for a dessert:rolleyes: .
I always say that why all this "Fine Dining" small art forms in the shape of stacks on a plates came became so popular, its so they can sell you on all 4/5 courses and make more money.
I always find room for a Brandy & Coffee at the end though.:giggle::coffee:
Happy Travels.

The lasagne looked lovely, while since i made it, must give it another go.
As for Crocs I have a lovely pair of suede toe post crocs, no photo as they are in the van and I am not 😉

I did see the governor on the shelf at mercadona, is it any good ?
Try this

Well we didn't manage to get a place in Almerimar as it was rammed with motorhomes trying to get a spot.
Off we went to Adra and are now parked up on the beach which is hopefully tolerated.
It's rough and ready with no housing near so should be OK.
Phils just doing a washing machine load then we are off into town to have a look about.

We too couldn't get in so are over the road on a car park and will try to get in tomorrow.

so many threads saying about difficulty in getting pitches, may have to prebook for Autumn.

Early Autumn is fine, late autumn, so end of November onwards, starts to get more difficult…

Town was very disappointing.
Most of the better restaurants are shut, a handful of coffee shops open and a few China bazar shops. Nice to look out to the sea though with the only noise is of the waves and the occasional car, probably a fisherman.

We didn't like Adra much either when we ended up there a couple of years ago. We also got lost trying to get back up to the A-7 & ended up in the maze of all the poly tunnels with VERY narrow service roads & 90° bends, we were trying to find fuel as well so that's my excuse

Loving your thread, thanks for taking the time to post.

Forgot to add you can get a very large glass of the Gov'nor (red one), for buttons, at the Ancora bar in the Marina.

The bit in blue is a decent place to stop if the aire is full in Almerimar. We've stopped there a few times without problem.
