Funnels for filling your Water

I got fed up with lifting a roll along water butt, getting soaked in water and cold! I bought another cheap immersible pump, connect a hose to it and two leads to the battery. No lifting, no strain no spills! I also use this to empty the upstairs bath water through a long hose with a spray head attached to it, to water the garden and wash my car and motorhome!

Maybe not on earlier versions but on my (2020) Citroen Relay PVC there is a pull out/up extension tube for the windscreen washer bottle that I didn't even know about until I saw it on a utube video.

Also Fiat 2019, found mine a couple of weeks ago, it needed a cable tie adding to aid pulling it up. I noted the screens within were severely obstructed, which explained the slow to fill I had noted, now fill fast as it's poured in.

Hi Paul,
Received the filler adapter today thanks and have had a dry run (not out out) and it fits perfick, the quality of the 3D printing is excellent, we had a 3D printer at the training centre I have just retired from and the parts always had lines on where each pass was laid down, yours I had to look very hard in-between the concentric rings on top to see any trace of beads (not a criticism but I was looking hard), the outer surfaces are as good as a moulded part, well done, I'm well happy, more power to your printing, btw what 3D cad package you running we had Solid works.
Nigel

Thanks for the compliments. 👍. I use Fusion360. It took a lot of work to figure it out, but now find pretty straight forward. Excellent CAD program.

Our filler pipe and lpg gas rack arrived today, most impressed thank you

Great idea Paul and Chrissy, we have had 3 Burstners all with the same filler cap issue.
I use a 10 litre watering Can if the hose will not reach, but love your design.
The big red inspection cap can leak as it has a foam seal, Burstners solution is to fit an 8mm rubber O Ring, sadly that only leaves 1/2 turn of thread holding 120 litres of water in a full tank😱
I emailed Belplast who make the caps and suggested they made the thread longer, but they sadly just ignored me.
I have an engineering background and had a friend make me a new one out of food grade nylon, now I have 2 full turns and the 8mm O Ring holding the 120 litres in the tank on roundabouts, I don’t worry any more!
Is it because you are running with a full tank of water. Burstner fit a valve especially for when you are traveling. It only allows you to half fill the tank. I never travel with even a quarter tank and have never had a problem with either cap. The 18 mm O ring works a treat with the original red cap.

Hello, the O ring is 8mm thick not 1m so takes almost a whole turn off the red cap as it’s a 10mm pitch thread, only leaving just over half a turn holding the red cap on.
If an 8mm O ring is required? and I tried a 6mm and 7mm and my red cap but it still dripped, then a longer red cap should be supplied, but it isn’t.
As you can see from my pictures the tank is very badly made, Burstner accepted this in the end….. 6 months backwards and forwards, I had a cap made at my own expense £180, and Burstner eventually agreed to a 5 year warranty on the tank.
I was happy with this compromise as I did not want my double skin one piece floor cutting out to remove the tank.
If anyone can make a new cap with a longer thread I am sure many owners would but one, there is over 50mm available female thread on the tanks, so why such a short thread on the red caps?
Poor design!

PaulandChrissy Ooer! Trying to decide how many must haves you have in the classifieds.
I’ll pm you when I’ve decided 👍

Shout out for the 33mm version which I have just received and put in to immediate use. Works a treat and save all sorts of b*ll- ache with hoses and stuff when all I want to do is to chuck 20 litres or so in the tank.

Excellent. Glad you like it. 👍😊

Hi Everyone
I’ve been asked many times if I make my funnels for the German vans that have there filler behind a locker door shown below. I have at last made one that I am happy with. If you would like one let me know or look in the classified.
The second request has been for the FAP fillers that have the lift up lid, commonly found on Mobilvetta’s and some German vans.
Pictures of both are shown below.
Hope you like them. They took me ages to get these ones right, and I have to print them in two stages.

Cheers PaulandChrissy

Looks the business Paul. We have the exact same water tank on our IXEO. No problem with the screw cap, yet, would like a funnel, can you send cost to Suffolk please.
Mike

Hello
This looks like a Burstner and so it is like my filling arrangement. If you have a filler for sale I would like to buy one. Can you let me know how to get payment to you and I will send you all my details?
Kind Regards

I have only skimmed through this thread, but I am surprised at the complications which seem to arise at trying to get water into a tank.

With our MH we either stick the hosepipe well down the filler throat till it chokes or ......

.....or if filling with a watering can, we have a funnel with a flexible spout to stick in the hole.

Seems simple enough to me. Why do manufacturers complicate things?

Likewise. I either shove the hose down the inlet or my 'emergency' plastic jerrycans have an 8" length of plastic hose.
Some people don’t have room for Jerry cans, hoses etc. They use collapsible buckets etc. Everyone has different needs according to their situation. A funnel with a flexible hose can be awkward. Holding the funnel with one hand and a folding bucket in the other hand can be pain. That’s why some funsters like my little side filling funnel that’s compact and doesn’t need holding while filling. It’s all about making things easy without having big cumbersome things that just can’t be stored easily.
Basicaly, we are all different, and at the same time we like our little creature comforts.

PaulandChrissy.

Hello
Interested in the filler for the Burstner water tank via the door set up. Could you let me know on price & availability ?
Thanks
Tim

Buy a flexible funnel from screw fix, get a suction hook, cable tie connects both.
Use what ever water carrier you want to use.

I use the same system as I have to fill one-armed. Eeezy- peezy.

PaulandChrissy

I bought ours from Paul sometime ago and used it for the first time on this trip. What a great piece of kit - simple and very effective. The width of the’dish’ is perfect as our filler flap acts as a lid between fill ups. A great job Paul - thank you.

oooh Matron I love a funnel thread. I have just bought another 5 pack of different sizes as I spilt ionised water all over my counter the other day while trying to transfer it into a litre bottle from a 5-litre container for my steam iron :giggle:
