Full time through winter in search of new life

I don't think CCP have any new sites, they just take over the operation of existing municipals/aires.
If the sites aren't there locally I don't think that will be a problem.
There’s one tired municipal inside 10km. Makes nothing and is a potential target for them. We wouldn’t care for reasons already outlined, but it has one very attractive feature we could exploit, so are already in contact with the marie to see if we can be made aware if the locality is thinking of offloading. Wouldn’t be more than 250k.

Maybe a few years back, and only with a certain young and highly educated party goer that would have been typical of said previous Nov 5 bonfire parties. But not these days. Now it would be much more likely to be someone a much broader group can all agree on, and be someone recognised by the Frenchies. This year as last year it would have to be Putin.

A collection of differing opinions, and they are just that, Opinions of each individual, is a healthy addition to any decision making process which will hopefully allow the OP to consider even MORE differing angles before making a final decision.
It now transpires that a major theme park is just up the road from this potential site.
Don't think that was mentioned in the question of what the area has to offer.
And I am NOT treating the OP as a dummy, far from it, and I have expressed my sincere well wishes to both He and his Partner throughout this interaction and hopimg the outcome is favourable to them in whatever they do.
If the OP wasn't prepared for comment, reaction, discussion and opinion on his potential business opportunity, why post on a forum in the first place?
It was in the beginning and several times since. Maybe you haven’t been following it properly and just dipped in and out.

It’s definitely worth a read but it took me an age when I came across it after about 3 days. Been along ever since.

Worth it

As a matter of interest, perhaps you could enlighten me as to Where the site actually is, or has been named.
I can't remember if it has been revieled or not, but from what I can remember, it has not.
It's been going on too long.
Many thanks.

Think he’s to scared in case after his description of the site a Funster goes over and offers the owner a big wedge more 😂😂

It is stated several times in the thread that we were honour bound and are now contractually bound to not share anything in the public domain until the sale completes. The owner has been crystal clear about that, and appears highly sensitive about what his staff are aware of.

We thank those who believe they have worked it out for not revealing, as it could compromise what has always been and is now more than ever a very delicate process.

Fair Dinkum Bruce, but the fact that the owner does not want his staff knowing anything, and with French employment law as it is, I would be more concerned about the staff issue and potential replacements (the cook for example) and subsequent law obligations to redundancy or removal than the state of the site, if in fact it is as dire as has been painted in various previous posts.
But good luck anyhow.
Only you know what you are doing in all reality.
Best Wishes. (y) (y) (y)

Well, we’ve just been informed by the owner that the UK Caravan Club have been in contact with him to confirm that the site is being sold, and he is asking us where they could have got that information.

Whatever the source, this forum and thread has to be a prime suspect - we do know some have worked out the location, though thankfully have not disclosed it online.

This has complicated matters for us. For this reason we will now end further updates or contributions to this thread. It is highly unlikely that the purchase will go through.

Many thanks to all those who have posted messages of support along the way - it was appreciated.

Could be the 'UK Caravan Club' also look at this forum for free so no member has sent the info.

Good luck and very best wishes to you in your future endeavours. I've really enjoyed reading your thread and so sorry that it has come to this.

I'm sure the grapevine in industry circles is a far more likely source.
I'd suggest he asks the UK Caravan Club where they got the info, but I'm not sure why they would be remotely interested in a French campsite ownership ?

Well as I still don’t know where it is and gave up looking and not a member of any club at all. Only follow this group since retiring.

Absolutely sorry if someone has said anything but please do post later the outcome. I’m sad if you stop. But wish you luck in your endeavour

Sad to see you go, good luck 🤞
We take the time to do one more post to you two, who, with a small handful of others have taken the time to read and understand our posts, who seem to understand we are aren’t complete idiots and who have always responded and commented with kindness and positivity. It was very much appreciated.

I sincerely feel sad now that we won’t hear the next bit. But I must admit why would the CMC be interested? I wonder if he’s just made it up?

Carol

Cannot see why the Caravan Club would be remotely interested in that site it doesn’t sound like in its current state the sort of place you would recommend to members…
Sounds a bit fishy to me but then why would he cut his own throat by pulling a deal when you are the only interested party by the sound of it🤔🤔🤔

Noone said the Caravan Club were interested, just asking if it was true it was up for sale. Don't they have overseas pitches? Maybe they make use of this site so were wanting to know the score?

Suspect the owner is just dishing dirt to gain one up in the negotiation. Why would the CC phone him and what would they do with that info? Good luck Dawsey with whatever happens. We were looking forward to being in your chain gang at some point.

Good luck, very weird this latest development, I am sure you two will find your dream place, you certainly seem highly motivated.

A very strange development, shame that this has happened. I’am not a member of either of the uk organisations, my trips start when I hit Europe. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Good luck to both of you, I hope you manage to get the site at a price worth paying.

Perhaps the Caravan and Motorhome Club discovered it was for sale in exactly the same way that you originally found out ie through an agent, or somebody familiar with the fact the agent had it on their books? Just saying.

And I've no idea which site it is, but very sorry you feel compromised.

Wishing you the best in any case and thanks for sharing your journey so far with us.

Hopefully, when the dust has settled you might be able to let us know the outcome one way or the other.

Good luck! (y)

Sorry to hear the latest news dawsey, whatever way the deal goes, best of luck to you & Bea.
As for the location of the site, I cant even find the bog roll factory!
I do have a Sthil FS90 petrol strimmer, and Leaf blower, plus a couple of chainsaws, but one is electric so may need that long extension lead the cook is using at present if we ever do get a chance to get down there.
Best wishes.

The C&MC is one larger camping organisations in Europe
They own a number of sites.
They have major levels of control over some 2,500 sites in the UK
You would expect their regular estate agents to contact them at any sniff of a site being up for sale.
They have money in the bank and may be interested in another purchase if the price was right.
(From memory didn't they buy a site in need of TLC last year ?)

If he has not yet had a call from CCC yet, he should expect one soon, as no doubt the agents will be talking to them as well.

The fact that you found out the site was for sale means it's not a secret.

I'll bet the staff all have their suspicions in any case, but the last person they will talk to about is their boss, he will hear it from the local publican before he gets a peep from the staff.

Sounds to me like he is looking to save face.
Still. Your offer can stand for as long as you want it to stand. Then walk away.
There will be other sites, or, this one will be back on the market next spring.

Remember, the bottom line for a business of this type, it's a buyers market and you appear to have no serious competition at the moment.

Oh crap… I was so looking forward to staying there and going through the loft for treasure…😎
