Full time through winter in search of new life

That’s the main of it.

Thankfully we haven’t. Helga is still going strong, though are considering giving up on the search, it’s exhausting. We will see how we feel post the imminent formal withdrawal of the offer. Maybe just one more month, one more full on assault at finding something in the first month of spring then that’s it.

I guess the good news for the funsters would be that if we give it a final shot, the original idea of glamping, land, and an aire de camping car would be at least partially resurrected, even if it proves to be only temporarily..
What has actually happened though. Without wanting any details, but have they upped the price again or pulled out or what.

Reading between the line’s French bloke wants the figures a bit creatively done so he can avoid part of a large tax bill😳😳

He's ended up with no sale, better to have 50% of something than 100% of nothing (y)
Surely though, although we don't know the details, the price should be set to allow for that in the first place not after you have agreed a sale.

Don't forget they are trying to deal in France !

That was my first thought too!
No offence to dawsey as I've read how thoroughly and knowledgeably he has gone about his research, financing etc. but a French neighbour who worked for un agent immobilier told me that his business gleefully thrived on rose-tinted Brits dying to get a cheap run down property and spend the rest of their lives working their nuts off and dealing with lethargic fonctionnaires, trades-people and suppliers.

Google Lens suggests the photo is of a property in Saint-Pierre-Sur-Erve, to the west of Le Mans. The agent lists it as no longer available.

Still listed on Leggett immobilier 👍

Dawsey is back!

Well it's been a long long time and one full time through winter turned into three winters and two summers in search of new life, a total of 2 years and 5 months of living in Helga, our trusty old Hymer!

But, we have got there in the end. We've identified and bought our dream piece of land, 10 acres with the potential for an aire, and all required to develop a glamping operation in the next 12-18months.

It's been a real rollercoaster and the last 12 months were perhaps the hardest with another 3 attempts to buy hitting the buffers and this one also going to the wire. We've both been very down with all the failures at some points, but we kept trying.

A full update on what's happened will follow for those still interested....

Thanks to all for kind words. It has felt at times as if we would never get there. Loads and loads to do now, apply for planning, ground works, overgrown and super wet site needs clearance and drainage, planting, put in some solar. House is soaking wet, has no heating or kitchen and the spa and pool has been decommissioned for 10yrs. There's frogs living in the pool pipes and not a single one holds pressure.

But the location is lovely..

Full marks for tenacity! Like hundreds of Funsters we cannot wait to hear both where it is and the guessed timescale however far off opening looks to be.

Please make sure you get good access for motorhomes up to around 10mtrs so we can all come to see you

Nice to see you back and good luck 👍
