From Spain to Norway - the long way round

Nice one Judith....your trip makes me smile

You haven't actually said the MH is fixed, I presume so, and hope so :)(y)

are you going back north again now?

We have just calculated we should be at Trondheim on 25th August, have friends round tonight who are now flying out to join us somewhere there or after, we must have sounded very excited :)

The van is booked in today. We've parked in their car park overnight so hopefully we'll be first in. Fingers crossed. Its raining so hope they're quick workers.

Not going back north but will slowly head south, doing all the touristy bits others have done. ( I re-read @Jenben and @Robert Clark and @moulin 87 threads yesterday for ideas.

Which property?

We didn't do the NM question, but if you really want to know we "could" go back and ask

I was particularly interested in the water front apartments, the ones with the marina.
I'm asking on @Anthea M 's behalf as she's to shy to ask.

Is the van fixed yet?

Martin was first into Reception when they opened at 7.00 am. 7.35
a mechanic arrived. Van disappeared, we went to sit in Reception. Martin could see what was happening (or not) until the doors opened when a delivery van appeared at about 9.15. At 9.50 I saw a can like ours (couldn't have been ours because it had only one brake light!) disappear out of the car park. It arrived back just before 10.00 and it took about 30 minutes waiting to pay.

As soon as ... we were on the road in awful rain. We're now somewhere and I'll have to look before I write any more.

Laters ...

Gin administered orally will dull the pain in your wallet. :(
I'm guessing it was a seized piston.
Cue old joke in desperate attempt to cheer you up (but it only works with alcohol):
"How are you?"
Response: "Piston broke."

:)

You try the mantra, "it's only money, it's only money". (Doesn't help with me, I still get griping pains in my wallet.)

Right ... dinner eaten and map on lap. We left Trondheim and eventually got onto the E39, filling up with diesel at 12.18NOK and LPG at Orkanger. We then decided we WOULD do the Atlantic Highway and we would first take the longer route on the 680 to get there. We drove into better weather and stopped for lunch in a parking area where I stocked up on raspberries.

We then continued along the coast looking for a place Martin could go fishing. We found a nice place which would have been a great place to stop if it wasn't too early. Fishing commenced but not a nibble! I, though, collected loads of bilberries.

The parking area had a shelter with a forest on its roof.

For some reason it wouldn't load Martin fishing!

We continued along the 680 crossing bridges between islands, stopping to take photos at areas with no camping signs!

We wanted to stop before the ferry but were running out of options until we took a left about 600 metres before running out of road. "Parking 4k" six or seven K along we found this spot for the night. It probably has the best views we've had so far but the light is bad for photos but I've taken some anyway!

We've just had a chorizo and sun dried tomato paella rice type meal and finishing off with raspberries and bilberries with natural yoghurt and honey.

Looking for a walk to do tomorrow before catching the ferry to go to Kristiansund and then the Atlantic Highway. Tourists ... I know

Great fishing spot on a bridge near the main car park on the Atlantic Highway

We found that unless we were travelling to a specific destination quickly (to avoid bad weather) then we avoided the main roads as much as possible and found Norway much more enjoyable.... Some weren't tarmacked, but we took our time and found some real wilderness.. Unbelievably we often went hours without seeing another motorhome..

Just for you Phil @Scout foraged rasberries and bilberries and blueberries we bought. You can see the difference, although there is a big difference between foraged raspberries and bought ones also!

Eaten with natural yogurt and a drizzle of honey (and a little cream)!

I just love reading this blog...Its the only way I can check on what I have been up to all day.
I just don't know how I manage to cram so much into 24 hours, cannot wait until tomorrow...another adventure...

Wheres the fish

Wheres the fish

In the ffjords, the sea and the rivers, not on our dinner plates like expected....my earlier catches were just beginners luck, but I won't give up, well not just yet, I will continue to hunt, to fish and buy from shops and supermarkets to provide for my needy family.

he got an empty plaice and hes waiting for something to fillit

Woke to a beautiful morning and got the bikes out. Not hard to plan a road route on the small island before catching the ferry to Kristiansand because there is only one feasible circular route to do!

Arriving back at the van. Bad planning on our part as we had 5km of uphill at the end! Didn't notice it when we drove it yesterday.

We said goodbye to our overnight spot and headed down to catch the ferry to Kristiansund, and then the drive on the Atlantic Highway. It just had to be done!

We called into a Rema 1000 for our daily bread and a few other bits and bobs and then carried on looking for a fishing spot for Martin.

Lunch stop and fishing scout around!

Not suitable, said the (now) expert so we continued over the bridge for him to try with all the hordes.

Unsuccessful again!

We moved on and are now at our overnight spot. He's had another unsuccessful try. Don't know how long the enthusiasm will last now?

another big aurora alert just been given out for next few hours, not sure how much change there has been yet in darkness hours with moving on in time and moving south, but worth a peep at some point (if clear tonight) (y)
