France Off The Menu.

I will not take this new information as being correct until I see it appear on the UK Gov web site. If it does turn out to be correct then so be it. It is what it is! Adapt and overcome springs to mind.
I think there’s summat about it on sky news.

Cross to Holland stay two weeks then travel around, bit merde if you only have a couple of weeks to travel, but Holland is very nice.

The crucial question for us anyway, is does this count if transiting through france to say italy?
Does anyone know??

If you travel through France you are still arriving from the UK surely.

That would apply for belgium though as well?, i can't think the french authorities would make you quarantine if going to belgium??

If your point of departure is the UK then you are arriving from the UK. Same as a multiple leg international flight.

They have allowed transit in the past. We came back from Portugal last March when all borders were closed, not the same direction I know but the principle is there.

The Dutch Government website states essential travel only for non residents. 🤷‍♂️

Yes transiting was allowed last year

Just changed my September crossing Portsmouth to Caen now Portsmouth to `Bilbao. Not many dates available. That way by July when full payment is due if France is back open I can always switch back without lose of money. If things do not change and Spain still letting us in can see boats full by then.

We can't do sea crossings, not of any length anyway,
just checked calais to donostia spain, 686 miles, doable in a day but a bit of a long drag, or calais to courmayeur italy 565 miles according to google maps, spend 10-12 days in spain or italy, then back to france, IF transiting is allowed and nothing changes.

So the British government decided not to shut the door on planes landing from India and we all have to suffer for their blatant incompetence. They should all be prosecuted for putting the lives of many British citizens at risk. To say I'm annoyed is an understatement 😡

I should have added that you do need one to come back to the UK though.
Hoping that will have changed before we return home.BUSBY.

Yes i know, not worried about the return journey one bit, but if france won't allow transiting that will bugger up our plans
I appreciate that. The bloody French are so useless though that they will probably overrule their own rules next Wednesday because they are “ quasi effective”
