No worries, at least I’ve got someone here to ask if I need anything and also family members texting to offer.
I’m just worried that I may have passed on the germs on Christmas morning to my daughter and the babies to whom I gave lots of cuddles.

Really enjoying your trip sorry about your unfortunate dog bite hope you get sorted your Christmas dinner looked nice keep posting

Hi Everyone
Does anyone know how I can get a 2019 ACSI card, I’m hoping to spend some time on a Camping site in Spain and I know you can get some sites cheaper with the card. I did try to get one before I left but they were not available until mid December.
Best Wishes Tony

@Mikeco posted this a while back

The 2019 ACSI book will be available to buy in Spain, we buy ours from the local Motorhome dealer in December.

And @jumar said this

The ACSI website lists sites and shops that sell the book in Spain and other countries, you could be lucky to pick up one in English.
Bought mine in Murcia this year expecting it to be in Spanish, but it came in English.

I cannot find anywhere on the website that lists where to get it.

‘‘Tis true, bought ours last week from Sanger Caravans near Cartagena.

Pepper spray? So where do get you get that then? I tried to get some in the UK but no luck.
In the UK it is classed the same as carrying a gun.:xlaugh:

In France many garages sell it. In Spain you can buy it in the gun shops(armario).
The spanish stuff tends to be a vapour spray, as is the French stuff. If you wish it to be a direct jet that can be fired up to 4 or 5m then you need to buy online from Germany, usually, then swop the spanish label for the german one.
Also useful if you cannot get hold of any is 'amoniaco' which is a spanish floor cleaner , ammonia based ideal to replace smelling salts, also for insect bites , clean the floor or use as a anti dog or anti-anything defence . Available in all sized bottles from 500ml up to 2 litres

Ordered ACSI from Vicarious as soon as we settled on this site in Portugal just over two weeks ago, but it hasn’t arrived yet. Did the same last year, but in Spain, and that arrived before we left (we were there four weeks).

Tony, I don’t know where you’re heading in Spain, but I do know that the site we have stayed at a few times in the North had them for sale. Gran Camping Zarautz, not far from San Sebastian, half an hour or so from the French border.

Hi Klaatu Thanks for that if it’s not to far out of the way I might go there, I might even go there anyway.

I’ve gone back on paracetamol as swinging between hot and sweaty and chilly shakes!
There is no evidence that paracetamol interferes with the body's ability to fight infection so it is perfectly safe to take paracetamol and ibuprofen. That's just one of those nonsense theories that does the rounds every so often.

Hi Everyone
Just for information, earlier in the thread I asked if you could go out of the Aire you are on and come straight back or were you limited to the 72 hours and had to be away for a period before the Aire allows you back in.
In this Aire inparticular if you want to stay after your 72 hours and before your time is up, go to the console click your language it then asks you if you are already a customer or not.
Click yes to I’m already a customer and it offers you among other things to buy more time. Now I don’t know if that will work when the Aire is full, but it’s seems sensible to allow MH to stay longer if the Aire has only 5 MHs on it, let’s face it, it’s more money for whoever owns the Aire.
Best Wishes Tony
:xThumb:

I got my 2019 ACSI book from the site were on in spain. Not much good to you I know because I had the last one. But other sites have them I beleive. Happy travels. (y)

@Riverbankannie

What a scarey moment that must have been! It looks nasty but it could have been much worse. Too late now for advice, unless you think the bite is getting worse, but never hesitate to turn up at a hospital emergency department. In that situation it would save you sorting out the pharmacy and the doctor yourself.
I assume you are still waiting for the injection?
I’m still under the weather, daughter has told me not to take paracetamol as that inhibits the body healing/fighting process? However I feel really achy in the joints and cannot stand up.

Hello, retired nurse here! Your daughter is completely wrong, where she got that gem from heaven knows? If you look at the NHS website on flu, it will tell you to take paracetamol or ibuprofen. You can actually take both together, as they are from different drug groups. Paracetamol can actually suit some people better, as ibuprofen can irritate your stomach.

I hope you are soon feeling much better.

Tony, the campsite at Zarautz is well worth visiting, at the top of the cliffs overlooking the town below. Nice walk along the front and fishing port just along the coast. San Sebastián is a particularly pleasant town and as you will be so close it would be a shame to miss it. Mike

Spot on

Hi Tony, if you can try getting to Cabarceno animal park ,well worth the effort.

@Riverbankannie Take Ibuprofen instead as its in a different group to Paracetamol. If you are having trouble getting out of bed them perhaps you should see a doctor.

Thanks everyone. I have gone back on the paracetamol and ibroprofen. Being careful not to take too much of course, I have taken night nurse last night and cold and flu tablets this morning. I cannot tell if they are having much effect though as still feel rotten and swinging between cold shivers and hot sweats. Luckily I had just bought 6 boxes balsam tissues but my nose feels like it’s been rasped with sandpaper!
Husband pretty much in same state now :xangry:

Don't forget that some products like night nurse contain paracetamol and will count towards the maximum that you can take.

How are you getting on, Tony? Are you in Spain now?

Tony is probably stuck in a Snow Drift somewhere after taking a wrong turn. He does seem to be short on luck. Hope he is up to speed on his Spanish especially if he is away from the coastal resorts. We found a few places last year that spoke no English at all. We ventured into one restaurant and managed to work out what most of the main dishes were. When we had finished the waiter asked if we wanted a postre, He then rattled off the whole postre menu in Spanish and then just stood there smiling. Only one we recognised had choc in it so we ordered dos and hoped for the best. Great meal and certainly good fun trying to work out whats on the menu.

i Everyone No I'm not stuck in a snow drift, I'm hoping most if not all of my bad luck is behind me.
28th Had my injection done at the Doctors, while I was waiting in the Super U car park I decided to go in and purchase some milk.

On my way through the checkout I had my back pack searched by some whippersnapper kid on the checkout I felt like a common criminal, no comments from you lot.

Anyway injection done and I decided to get some miles under my belt. So the first Aire I came to I quickly decided not to stay and head for or near to the border.

night after some hairy twists and turns up a mountain road and through thick fog, wasn’t sure if I’d parked in the correct place but shut the MH off and went to bed after a stiff drink.
Let me tell you if you are of a nervous disposition then I don’t think I would go to this Aire and if you do take plenty of clean underwear. LOL

In the morning I woke up to what only can be described as heaven on earth, well slight exaggeration but hey I'm allowed.

29th
Today I decided to go to an Aire near Irun and on the Sunday head into Irun and hopefully buy an Acsi card book for 2019.

The Aire I settled on was on the border of Spain and France and as I understood it was poplar with the French for cheap booze and fags etc.

The Aire in question was Parking Col d’lbardin, Urrugne cc60939.
I arrived there about two o’clock and the Aire was full, walking into the aire to see if I could get a place, I was lucky as someone was leaving.
I parked up and had a walk up to the shops.

This was like a small shopping centre it was amazing. When I got back to my MH there was two other MH’s waiting to get in which they never did.
When the shops closed the Aire was peaceful and a quiet night.
Over the night I managed to find out the opening times for Caravanas Evasion S.L. in Irun to my dismay I found out they were closed over the holiday period which did not surprise me.

30th In the morning there was heavy fog and I waited to see if it would lift and as now Irun was out of the picture I decided to head south to Pamploma and an Aire on the outskirts of the city called Camperplaats, Berriozar cc19155.

I arrived there to a glorious sunny day and another fellow travellers from the UK Pauline and Bill If I remember, they had the exact MH as I did, I had a really pleasant conversation with them and we separated for lunch.

Had a few visitors during my stay.

I’m parked for the night and might even stay here for new years eve.

Anyway that’s all for now folks.

Best Wishes Tony
