Ok been under the van very bottom floor is 2mm grp 30mm pu. 2mm grp then storage gap then the floor that you walk on this photo is of the very bottom floor hatch (tank access) the black must be painted as the pu is light blue I hope this clarifies two different floors on the same van

PU in the upper floor then, surprising the hatches aren't a PU core then.

Just when I was getting enthusiastic for a Hymer, the new Dynamic line is nice looking & uptodate MH. Looks like they have been saving cents on build quality which is a shame. Already experienced one that bodywork starting rotting before 3yrs old.
My Carthago is the same after 3yrs as the day I got it on fixings, fittings and outside bodywork.

I think we will be hanging on to our Concorde until we win the lottery. Looked at loads of top end imitators but our old lady is built like the proverbial brick dunnie, and touch wood has never really caused us anything but minor problems.

Hi Steve, Emmanuel Demuynck along with his brother and elderly father owns Campirama in Kortrijk, Belgium. Between them, they have a wealth of knowledge on Hymer/Eriba products and they are one of the oldest established Hymer dealers in Europe.

An excellent family to deal with. Knowledgeable, helpful and 'genuine.' Unlike many British dealers, they don't 'play games.' We bought from them because of their excellent reputation. We met a couple in Spain last winter, who had had a problem with the door on their A Class Hymer, after the warranty had expired, and Campirama told them to bring it back and camp in their yard, while they fixed the problem free of charge.
I think, maybe, I should write a review in the Review Section.

Very pleased with my Dynamic Line, the latest Exsis & B Class SL all use the same PUAL 2 contruction with internal walls in aluminium. The Exsis doesn't have the double floor and the SL has a GRP rear end.

Edit:
What about all the cracking & broken floor hatches Carthago's suffer from. The Carthago Club recomend fitting kitchen cabinet legs under the hatches, what a bodge. :D

Edit 2: How many times Jon has your engine battery gone flat because they cocked up the wiring with the Media Centre & your door strut keeps working loose.

Both my floors are PU foam, are you saying your top one isn't?
I can not find a edge that is not ply wood on the middle floor as yet but will be back home on Monday and will have a proper look and update you.

Just to reply, media centre retro fit, door strut screw came undone sorted with thread lock,
I've had both in fact 2 Hymer bought because of big discounts available. Unfortunately not the case with Carthago I wonder why?

Campirama would be one reason to persuade me to Hymer. Emmanuel is genuine and tries his best but does struggle with time management as a result you do have to be prepared to hang around. But if you want a good deal on a Hymer he's the place to go to.

@SteveandDenise. Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your new Hymer, and sh1t service from Lowdhams too. :(
It's these sort of stories we hear that make us want to hang on to our 18 year old Hymer, which apart from the outer underfloor issue that @CazPaul highlights, (repaired by Peter Hambilton), she hasn't let us down really. We did replace the front and rear roof seals too, but not because of water ingress.

Rita and I hope that it's all sorted properly for you, when your MH goes back to Lowdhams. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

This had me looking at my hatch doors, I can just see a PU foam core where the handle is, none are delaminating.

You must be careful using Gorilla glue as it will dissolve PU foam. Decent quality wood glue is best and clamps.

I've been having a look at the floor on our 588 DL, too. As @Lenny HB says, it's PU (y).

Very interesting. 2014 T Class Hymer owned from new. Two bedroom hatches recently (i.e. weeks) have become spongy underfoot and are delaminating. I am planning to use wood glue and clamps on them when we get home. It does appear to be an issue that will affect others.ŵ

The right outcome - can't see they have any other choice when it is clearly down to shoddy build quality - well done !

why dont they use resin impregnated ply like phenolic which is super strong and waterproof

We are so sorry to hear of the problems that you are experiencing with your lovely new van, Steve and Denise. We sincerely hope that you get it resolved quickly and to your satisfaction.

Rex and Janet

We had that problem with one floor hatch on our Carthago.
It was made up of a number of layers and the bottom one had a join in the centre which weakened it.
It was replaced under warranty and has been fine since.

Richard.

@Clarky
Hi Richard,
Just found the exact same problem on our van. Which dealer obtained your replacement and how long did it take?
Cheers

We returned to Go European who supplied the van.
I notified them last November, along with a small list of warranty things that needed attention. The parts were all in stock when the van went in for its annual damp check and service in February, so I don't know how long they actually took to arrive.
It's a long trek up to Staffordshire for us so if things needed non urgent attention we waited until they could be done at a service.
They were nearly all minor things and, fortunately, all bugs now seem to be squashed and sorted.

Richard.

Thanks Richard. Mine goes in for damp check next Monday and i only found the problem today and told Southdowns about it. I suspect they will just check and order a new hatch. Not really a problem if they will send it to me to exchange.

I've not heard of it before this thread of it being a problem on Hymers but Carthago did have a lot problems with it.
