So what’s this guy doing?

If you look at the yellow plane he seems to be going up and down. cant post a photo as it says it’s to dam large!!
His full flight on ADS-B, you will see that he thermalled a large number of times to get height.

Glider makes sense, going round in circles looking for/using thermals.

But, I still think he'd be quicker on the bus.

Some exercise going on. There are 5 Drakens in the air with another lined up on the runway. Heading out into the North Sea between Whitby and Scarbrough. Noisy buggers going right over our house.

Could be a U-2 flying out of Fairford, height and speed about right if he is going back in.

Think this guy is currently circling threatening to purposefully crash in to a US shopping mall...

If I remember correctly this is not the first time a plane has been stolen and used in a threatening manner over there. I think the last wannabe pilot was persuaded to land safely.

The flight doesn't appear to have ended at an airport.....

Be a matter of time before we find out what happened. Was that altitude showing zero there?

In the mean time another stratofortress playing around southern England. I'd love to see one of them in the flesh.

Landed safely according to sky news. I doubt this guy will be back to work at the airport anytime soon.

Surprised the Yanks didnt shoot him down.

It is difficult to make any real assessment of what happened at this stage.

He had reported pressurisation problems when over Spain. If he was at high altitude at this point it may be that in dealing with the problems he did not don his oxygen mask quickly enough, or forgot to turn on the flow, and suffered incapacitation from lack of oxygen.

Since the aircraft continued flying at FL 360 until it crashed the problem presumable occurred at that level, in which case he would have had about 5 minutes to don his mask. He was flying single crew, as this model of Citation is cleared for that, so maybe his workload with the problem was very high.

Similar crashes have happened like this e.g. Helios Airways which crashed in Greece.

I reckon this must be a control line version of the C130 ... has been going around in circles for ages
