I despair at the knowledge of "dealer experts" and will be taking my vehicle elsewhere for its hab check. Mine failed because the lithium battery was not housed in a box. It is, however, securely strapped in with a steel, battery retaining clamp. The ignorance of dealers leads me to despair.
Is anyone aware of any authority who publicly issue guidelines for lithium? I've checked the NCC website but can find nothing in relation to the issue.
Cheers all.

Might be better to alter the title to mention Lithium as it's not obvious so you'll miss replies from some.

I was not aware that there is a fail or pass on a habitation check.
Only the observations of the checker, I refuse to refer to them technician or engineer.
Some observations affect warranty others are for the owner to decide what the next step is.

This is my first hab check and I have quoted what the dealer reported to me. Thanks for pointing out that the hab check can only give an observation, that is very useful to know. :)

It actually beggars belief that some of these Habitation check guys and dealers refer to themselves as LPG engineers ?
What are they smoking ?
I am fortunate to be a humble plumber that happens to do a bit of gas 😂

Picture of your Battery would help. Many have assembled their own Lithium battery packs, with a BMS on the side, which can then be placed inside a "Battery Casing"
If the battery is inside a case, and is sufficiently secured/strapped down inside the van, then that surely is all that can be expected of any battery type.

How can it fail a hab check mind you I have never had one just have the damp check for the warranty. The hab side I take care of myself.
Even damp checks are a rip off why should the customer pay to find the manufacturers errors even more so with a PVC. Some PVC's don't require a damp check I think Malibu is one.

If it’s the first Hab check and it has “Failed” then surely the dealer needs to be reported for supplying a vehicle this way. How did the vehicle pass a PDI Check originally?
Personally, I honestly don’t see a problem if the battery is secured.

This is really useful info fellow Funsters. So, a hab check is not compulsory to maintain the manufacturer's warranty but a damp check is?
Most German vans a hab check isn't needed defiantly not required on Hymer's and Carthago's. Brit manufacturers normally stitch you up and require a hab & damp check to keep the damp warranty.

The AGM battery, supplied by Erwin Hymer group was very, very poor so I upgraded the system to include 300W solar, Victron PSU, Victron MPPT, 200Ah Lithium, new breakers, isolators, etc, etc. All done very neatly and professionally. l'll post a picture of the install tomorrow as it will give some context.

Sorry I should not have said it passed as its a report not a test. The guy who done mine is one of the few swift trained mobile engineers left and passed no comment on the form

Even the damp check is a moot point; it's a panel van. Are these habitation checks just money for old rope or do they have a genuine, useful use?
Wherever there’s a hole cut in a vehicle there could be damp ingress. Roof lights, ariel, lockers, cassette locker, yadda, yadda, yadda. You say it’s your first one, who asked for it?
If your van is 12 month old then the manufacturer should be checking it for free to make sure they’ve done their job properly!
