Britannia via LV. Cambelt went last year in Spain and they treated us very well, breakdown recovery, hotels, hire car, fights back to the UK, taxis, return flights to Spain to pick up after repair. Highly recommended.

I believe both of the Caravan clubs offer this for members.

Glad to hear that as we are with them this year 👍

I get AA cover as part of my insurance policy - and it's excellent.

How old is your vehicle? Some European breakdown cover won't cover older models.

Nationwide Flex Plus current account. £13 per month for personal cover - any vehicle you or your partner drive including motorhomes unlimited length in UK up to 8 metres in Europe (up to 7.5.ton) Operated by AA in UK. In addition full worldwide travel insurance for you and your family.

It really is a bargain and excellent cover. Cheaper than similar cover direct with the AA.

LV. They are great. Set up monthly payment, use while in Europe then stop it when you get home and convert to UK cover. Simple. We had a battery go pop in France and LV were great at sorting. No issue with length 7m of weight 3.7T

We thought we had it covered with RAC Arrival European cover for our 3.5 ton Transit based mo-ho in Spain when the turbo blew up.It was frankly a bloody shambles.Beware of (Opteven )This is the RAC European HQ in Lyon.We with massive persistence got our Mo Ho back months later.

Be careful if you have a dog. The only company that I know of that covers getting you AND your dog back home is Red Pennant (CAMC). I know some other companies will try to work with you as best as possible but there is no guarantee.

Green Flag said they couldn’t cover us as we were over 3m in height. Same with the AA and the RAC ( different with Nationwide flex and RAC I believe)
Now with Caravanguard for insurance and breakdown.

Thank you everyone, lv and nationwide look the best. All others seem to have age or height restrictrictions. CAMC I looked into but are very strict on regular stamped service book.
Strangely nationwide use The AA. The Aa directly have a height restriction but nationwide policy doesn’t.

Britannia use to cover nationwide until they changed to AA

Britannia are amazing and hands down one of the best companies I've used

Already have RAC (including eurpean cover) for our cars (personal membership so covers any vehicle if driving/passenger)
Just renewed and checked with RAC, limits are: -
Max weight 3.5 tonne
Width 2.55 m
Length 3.4 m (including towbar if fitted)
Height not quoted.

Therefore in my case no additional cost!

Car broke down last year in France and experience was generally good so I am happy

But double check the cover on this, which you should ask about if you have historic rights you may get better, we have been with them since before their change of name many years back
