Rally Dorset Coastal Campsite Meet At Highlands End & Jurassic Fields Festival 9 - 13 July 2020

On their site today

For holiday arrival dates after 1 June, the balance will be due 7 days before your arrival date, if the park is open and we can welcome you to the park. So, for now, please do not make any further payments. We will be in touch as this crisis and the government guidance unfolds.
Nana ..... FYI (y)

We paid in full when we booked so I will await their contact.
My guess (and hope) is that things should be somewhat open by then. Hope so, as I'm supposed to be a race officer at the Osprey dinghy National champs (60 entries) and also an F-4 phantom do as well. busy July...... Hope to see you both soon and regards to Mick

I really hope this one goes ahead. It may be our 1st trip away in the van this year. I can't wait.

The site might be open, but the festival probably will not be on. Social distancing will by the sound of it, will still be in place. I obviously know no more than the next person but I can see campsites opening without toilet blocks at first.

I’m quite sure that we can all manage socially distanced funsters socialising.

XV582.... Black Mike. I have a photo somewhere of myself, the pilot and Nav who broke the speed record and the plane when we had a photoshoot at Cosford one evening. We saved her from the scrapyard with the help of GJD services and had some great and not so great times. Beautiful plane.

I must have a search for photos. Your group have done a great job, I must try and get down to see it when we are freed up to move about again thanks

Well worth it. Cockpit is mostly complete. XV490 lives at Newark and at cockpitfest and Cold War call up there, we will be doing cockpit tours. Usually have a few ex F4 aircrew there, such as Dave Gledhill, Caroline Paige (you read that right) and a Mike Keeble. All great fun and hugely knowledgeable

Notification received this evening that Jurassic Fields 2020 won't be happening and is rescheduled to Friday 9, Sat 10 July 2021 with an additional day for the Sunday. Tickets already purchased will roll over, as force majure. Refunds might be considered on merit but depend on their cash flow and could take some time. I read that as being like most festivals they don't have reserves and it's a bit of a gamble if they will actually run in 2021.

I suspect the Highlands Park site will in some form be open this July, probably without the bar and such like so as campsite only, maybe with limited facilities, so they will still expect us to pay up our balance of deposits and attend. But without the festival this year, to have to pay up again for a site next year as well isn't going to be that palatable.

It's an awkward situation with no easy resolution.

Presume that you had an email from Jurassic Fields? We haven't had anything yet & nothing on their Facebook pages or website.
Highlands End will be waiting on the Government advise on dates like all other campsites but know that many Funsters are keen to go even if no Festival. Things are changing every day so think we just have to wait & see & would want everyone to be as safe as possible.

Yes it's an email from Jurassic Fields that I got just before 9:00pm today. I expected they would have to be cancelling, and it's only surprising it that they held out so long. I suppose the smaller the festival the less forward planning they have on physical site set up so can delay longer.
Jurassic Fields 2020 Postponement
Good Evening

The Jurassic Fields Directors have had to make the tough decision to postpone this year’s Jurassic Fields due to take place on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th July 2020.

As Coronavirus grips the country, we have been closely following the advice from the Government and the WHO to assess the viability and possibility of putting on this year’s festival.

It goes without saying that whilst everyone’s personal safety is the primary consideration, we have to also consider the pressure that this situation is putting on both business and personal finances, together with concerns over the likely recovery of local tourism, the latter of which is of course vital to our visitor numbers. The financial and safety implications of organising a festival and then cancelling at the last minute compared with postponing much earlier were also a serious consideration. Being a not for profit organisation and relying on sponsorship and fundraising to put on the festival each year a cancellation would have killed the festival.

However we have been working tirelessly with the confirmed acts and are pleased to say we have managed to secure all announced acts so far to play on the rescheduled dates in 2021.

All tickets purchased for 2020’s event will be valid for the 2021 dates of Friday 9th and Saturday 10th July. We will launch our new ticket links shortly for 2021.

As the postponement is due to a ‘force majure’ situation caused by the covid 19 pandemic, With this we will be issuing all current ticket holders with a direct transfer of tickets for 2021 event.

We hope that you will all be excited to attend the festival when it returns in 2021, however if for unforeseen circumstances you would be unable to attend the postponement dates, please email jurassicfields@outlook.com and we will consider any request for a refund on merit. There may however be a delay on any refunds until cash flow starts returning to the festival.

Your support will help the festival to continue bringing one of the best grassroots music festivals to Dorset. We would ask if you could take the time to read the below article to understand the commitment that such small festivals have to put up monetary wise in advance to secure acts and services.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-52227665

As a thank you we are planning to put in an additional day to the festival next year (Licenses Permitting) on Sunday 11th July 2021 which your Tickets will be valid for at no additional cost.

Again we are as disappointed as you are not to be holding the festival this year but public safety is our primary concern and without premises license restrictions or restrictions on gatherings of any size being lifted anytime soon the festival would not survive.

We will send updates in the future about the coming up events throughout 2021. But please stay safe and look after each other during these unprecedented times.

See you all next year for the biggest and best Jurassic Fields yet!

Jurassic Fields Team

I paid full balance on all festival and campsite bookings that I had made for my first full year. So will have to wait and see at least if open a visit to the campsite is close and easy to get to (if the roads are not blocked with escapees) I am longing to be near the sea sooooo badly. Nearly kept going last night when did the essential shopping run at 09.30pm. It was wet and windy so if I had snuck down would anyone notice . Probably not but as always goodie two shoes behaved but he fantasy was lovely for a few seconds

I have also had the email. Not sure what to do about the festival, but will probably still go to the site if it's open.

I had the email. I still want to go to the site as it was the 1st booking of a 2 week holiday. I'm hoping to get a refund for the festival as weren't planning to go next year.

If you saw Martin Lewis's money program this week you are fully entitled to a refund, but tickets could be given to others as 'gifts' next year. I have different feelings towards different suppliers as it depends upon the communication that I have received. I have had excellent experience of customer service this week from 2 separate organisations both led to more custom from me. And a nice warm fuzzy feeling

after getting the email from Highlands End "stating payment not due till 7 days prior to visit" I contacted them asking whats the cancelation procedure as we have 12 weeks stay inside letters which extend just into the dates, they offered me various deals, of which I excepted a credit note for the deposit paid , to be used by dec 2021, subject to availability of pitches . So we are no longer attending this year. But we will probably go sometime later in the autumn if sanity returns.

I think this was a very fair offer from them, and as such they are on my good guys list to use going forwards

Hi Everyone :hi: - we have been busy with family life so just catching up - know it is a complicated & difficult time at the moment but hope you are all keeping well. Jurassic Fields Festival https://www.jurassicfields.com/ dates for 2021 are confirmed as 9-11 July 2021 so for anyone considering moving their Highlands End booking next years Meet is proposed for Thursday 8 July until Monday 12 July 2021. As well as meeting up at what is normally a lovely time of the year in Dorset this will also enable anyone who has a ticket for the Festival this year to use it next year as it will be valid for then & also for the extra day on Sunday (subject to license approval) :)
As Highlands End current info. is (in line with the latest Government advice) up until bookings for 3 July https://wdlh.co.uk/blog/coronavirus-updates/ we will check with them to see what options they are currently offering anyone wanting to move their 2020 Meet booking to the proposed 2021 Meet date or other dates but good to see that Scout & Electraglide have had positive replies already (y) Will post here when we hear back but any feedback for what you may already have sorted might be helpful & PM if you prefer. It would be great if they can just move bookings by individual request to the new dates (for those that want that) at the same rate (with free dog) but don't know if that is possible but it's worth a try.

I have bookings for Haven campsites, they are still requiring the full balance be paid, by the original date, despite them clearly knowing if sites will be open, I presume Highlands End are doing the same. I can afford loss of deposit but not full amounts. I will make the decision at the time, but things are changing so quickly at this time, no decisions can be fixed, flexibility has to be shown.

Hi westhamman, we visit Haven campsites quite often, we should be at the "Orchards" (St Osyth, Clacton on Sea) from the 22nd May. I received this email from Haven, as below;
Guarantee for all 2020 and 2021 bookings

I originally paid about £120.00 for 3 days, I have since telephoned The Orchards and rebooked part the (re-funded money??) for 7 day in September (£54.00, leaving £66.00 in my Haven account) but I MUST re-book the next time away BEFORE the end of November, and as you can see they are giving a food/drink voucher for £50.00. The telephone number for The Orchards (if that's any good to you) is 01255 820651, good luck, I personally went for the postponement and the voucher, it makes the bookings very worthwhile.

UPDATE: For those that may want to move their booking to the July 2021 Meet dates (or other dates) Highlands End are offering one move of dates with no admin. fees charged but future changes would be their normal £25 admin. fee each time. There is a slight increase in pitch rate e.g. increasing it from £92.40 to £96.00 for grass pitch for 4 nights for two people or £117.60 to £121.20 for gravel but that seems fair. Just waiting to have some small points confirmed - whether for next years Meet we can still bring one dog free per booking (normally £3 per night) & if we can all have early access from midday on arrivals day (normally 3pm) so will post here & alert everyone once that is known so you have all the info. to decide &/or to move your booking efficiently. Know & understand that some still plan to go this July if the campsite is open but wouldn't want to encourage anyone to take unnecessary risks.
