Surely there should be accident records if classic cars are being used to avoid MOT’s and not being maintained properly?
Exactly . As I said it's not being introduced for safety. It's being introduced to take more older cars of the roads to meet their ridiculous 2030 bullshit.

That's why the consultation involved only 1083 people and not the several hundred thousand classic car owners in the UK.

These are the only non Schengen countries left in Europe now I think.

  • Albania
  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Belarus
  • Bosnia & Herzegovina
  • Macedonia
  • Moldova
  • Montenegro
  • Serbia
  • Ukraine
  • United Kingdom
That's a grim list for a potential holiday at the moment

No problem then if they are safe they will pass the test if they fail they shouldn't be on the road.

And of course the tests will be free 😉

It's nowt to do with safety uncle lenny . That's why they've had the exemption for years now.

The same way electric cars etc has sod all to do with the environment.

A straight forward Classic Car MOT test to the standards that were applied 30/40 years ago, ie: Just Brakes, Lights, Suspension & Steering, corrosion, but no emission tests were needed then.
Possible other Option:
Yearly safety test if doing over say 5K miles, or 3/5 yearly intervals if under that for getting to shows and events, adjust the mileage to another figure if you like, but you get my drift, it stops people taking the pee and using them as every day high mileage cars to be exempted from Road tax & MOT.
