Its torque you need to climb hills, the 3 litre Iveco is an excellent engine but its been "developed" a long way beyond its original design and then asked to carry ever larger and heavier bodies.
There's a saying in the racing fraternity - Torque wins races but horsepower sells.
That's why I wanted a remap not for the bhp increase but for the torque. The plug In chip I fitted doesn't increase the torque it just fools the ecu in to providing more fuel. On motorway inclines it had definitely improved. It was going very well and then the red light problem slowly started to return . It could still be that the waste gate is sticking at times and not opening and closing fully or it could be another issue. Again when the wheels are off I will attempt to get some grease on it.Yes I understand that, but the layperson on here doesn’t, hence ‘selling’ hp number by defaulting to what people understand!
TBH it’s a great engine, just not enough ‘grunt’ (another expression of torque ) for 7T plus!
OK so I have a price this morning for the paintwork. .to paint the full front end fibreglass section, the drivers door , both bumpers and the full side skirts ,and the main bodies of the mirrors in the fiat 210 white ( which he knew straight away as the colour which is a good sign) 4500dh , so €450 . I didn't bother to haggle at that as it seems a fair price and hopefully a top job.
The grey vinyl stripe I'm going to attempt to remove and if it leaves a visible mark they will paint a white or blue stripe where it was .
And he says it will be done in 5 days ( we will see )
I've not mentioned the underneath painting yet as I want to see how things go first.
I will strip off all lights etc myself during the prep work

My thinking was if I haggled too much I'd either be behind folk that didn't haggle or corners would be cut. I think for £400 for what work they're doing it's a reasonable price. Also there's a few bits I want to get painted too, fridge vents, fiamma locks, the cassette door plastics etc .. so they're more likely to do them without complaining if I pay the asked price.I get not haggling for fruit and veg, but come on Tam, summon your inner ‘Arther Dailey’ as it needs a bit of a haggle on the price?
Yes I'd think so . I did say you'd likely get all your paintwork sorted for under 500. You should have come now when it's quieter though . When I was there 2 years ago it was much busier and a lot more disorganised .So front of my van should be same or less so that’s good for me then..
Yes I'll wait till they've got on with the first stage then I'll ask about the underside. They do that part outside anyway. If you get the underside done also, Doc is going to come out of there like a new van. Looking forward to the pics of before and after.
You should have got him to offset some of yours onto Just smithy’sYes I'd think so . I did say you'd likely get all your paintwork sorted for under 500. You should have come now when it's quieter though . When I was there 2 years ago it was much busier and a lot more disorganised .
And it would have made life easier for both of us if getting done at same time.
I thought we'd decided that the 'mot' was a rubber one?I wondered about this but discounted it because it must have had an mot, but thinking about it again, who actually got it mot'd?
I thought there was mention of that previously too.I thought we'd decided that the 'mot' was a rubber one?
Nice one Richard. We have a master cylinder Tam.
❤ as 2865The braking issue symptoms all point to cooked front pads, they fade when worked hard, OK under normal braking, same applies on motorcycles, it's the pads. Preferred brand is Mintex or Brembo on my 5.5T tag axle Cheiftain, had severe fading in Granada hills on some genericGSF pads my son gifted me on a visit a few years back, b*"! /y scary, was fine on Ap7 and normal roads, thought I had no brakes on the steep descents. Change the pads!
Ive always found the orange sellers in Poland very fresh
That's extremely cheap, I now understand why you went so far to get it done. But, what will the quality be like? I know it's racist and unfair, but we have a saying in the Canaries - 'never trust a moro'OK so I have a price this morning for the paintwork. .to paint the full front end fibreglass section, the drivers door , both bumpers and the full side skirts ,and the main bodies of the mirrors in the fiat 210 white ( which he knew straight away as the colour which is a good sign) 4500dh , so €450 . You are as accurate as the Fedex parcel I'm sat at home waiting for. They said 09.20 - 15.20, great I thought, I'll not have to sit in all day with the dog giving me daggers. Gets to 13.25, I check again and it now says before 18.00. Tossers. Hope you don't arrive the Wednesday after the weekend or you will be downgraded from DHL to Fedex!Your DHL (aka CaptainPaul) delivery will be arriving in your destination country (Maroc) sometime this weekend coming.... tam the pad wear seems very uneven to me more on the outside maybe the caliper is at faultWell I've had both front wheels off today. The pads aren't glazed and no signs of them overheating . Calipers not seized but sliders and pistons are a little lazy/sticky at times. Pads aren't hard either as if I rub them together I'm getting dust off them and having previous hard pads that's not typical.
The discs have cleaned up a bit in use but really they are needing replaced and possibly the front calipers too. But I'm not doing that here in morroco as I imagine the parts will be expensive and not that easy to get going by the master cylinder.
I've yet to do the rears but I'm knackered so it won't be today . I've cleaned everything up yet again and greased the sliders and pad slides. Worked the pistons in and out 3 or 4 times each side and everything is moving as freely as I can get it . There's no binding etc.
In my haste doing brakes I completely forgot to grease up the waste gate so I'll have to take that wheel off again . I had to stop in middle to take all side markers etc off as the guy had started sanding and if they get away with it they'd just mask them up whereas I prefer to remove everything possible fir a better job.

I agree but wonder if it could be the angle of the photo.tam the pad wear seems very uneven to me more on the outside maybe the caliper is at fault
I agree but wonder if it could be the angle of the photo.
Yes on the left hand side the outside pad was slightly thinner than the inside pad .. as I said the cylinders and sliders were a little lazy but not seized . I've freed them again and greased them again . But I don't think they were causing the issue.tam the pad wear seems very uneven to me more on the outside maybe the caliper is at fault
There's about 1 or 2 mm in it at most but the outer pad on rhs is a little thinner .I agree but wonder if it could be the angle of the photo.
