Fiat Ducato 2013, 2.3 on a Hymer Exsis.

This year alas my shock absorbers were an advisory for a light misting of oil. I would tend to agree, they aren’t dry and are possibly leaking a little.

That’s fine, it’s 11 years old and we do 10,000 miles a year in it.

The but is this, the springs look to be the upgraded Goldschmidt ones. This leaves me wondering, as usually by the time I have got the shocks out, I would replace the top mount (which I will) and the springs.

Standard springs are about £120.

Replacement Goldschmidt are £500. 🫣

So what to do?

Cry and stump up £750 in parts, or go for standard springs and save £380?

Or even just put the old uprated ones on the new shocks and top mounts?

Old springs will still be better quality than new cheaper ones

20+ years in 1990 VW T3 and Florida. Hymer now...
My thoughts would be: is the ride height what you would expect? If so, replace the dampers. If not, replace the lot!

My 2015 exsis has a drooping front. Deliberating the same...

I have a pair of Goldschmitt uprated springs sitting in my garage at home they were used for less than a year when I had air fitted.
They were from the maxi chassis front axle rating 2300kg.
Open to offers for then but can't check the part number until we get home on Nov 1st.

Mine is the light chassis Lenny HB but in no rush so would be happy to check. 👍

The ride height is fine, I think the springs are in good condition.

I’m looking to upgrade as the pot holes now shake my teeth out, time for new shocks and mounts so interested in the springs

All the gear, and no idea!
If there were no obvious signs of damage or wear, I would put them on the new struts👍

Thanks all, will probably wait till spring (see what I did there) and get them changed. I can carefully inspect them once off and make a decision.

Unless Lenny HB wants to sell his and they match, I might take a punt. :)
