3 years 30,000 miles UK and Europe.. Campsites and off Grid.
Looking at current offerings for Data sims in EU. Don't want a contract.

ID mobile £10 a month for 100GB - 30GB cap in EU. (could get 2 or 3 of those I guess)

IQ mobile £20 annual charge for the sim and then £20 for 100GB. Limited to 3 months in 12 in the EU.

RWG used to be good but limited to 20GB roaming now.

Any other good deals for EU roaming/no contract?

At the risk location of being shot down by a certain member who gets miffed when people ask for a data sim and people suggest a phone sim ... Do you actually need a dedicated data only sim?

Just gone IQ with the 100gb on the £20 annual plus £20 pm. We are two weeks in and all good. If need be, we travel for 6 months in the EU, Morocco etc, we could get a second IQ sim. We can always use our EE 15gb pm as a top up.

No - what ever works out cheapest for me .It's only needed for data but I'm happy to use whatever. Not sure if that is the case for sim routers????

I won't really need 100gb so the IQ works out quite a bit more expensive. £40 for 100gb £35 for 30Gb (inc. the annual fee) where as the ID is £10 for 30GB. or if I need more I can get 2. £20 for 60gb.

Interesting to see responses. I'm currently with Smarty that has served me well but limited to 12GB when roaming. Bizarrely a data only sim is more expensive than the phone sim that offers more data!!!
I've always used the phone sim in my mifi.
I use Lebara in my phone giving me 30GB roaming. Next year I will be away for five months which, it seems, is a problem with Lebara.
Need a sim that will keep my phone active for five months.

I’ve been pleased with my Reglo phone sim , in router 🫢
200gb for 13.80€ ( about £11.50 using Revolut)
They have different rates for 4G and 5g which is a good idea.

Luckily my ID Mobile sim allows me full allowance so I get 250gb in europe but we used it all one month so I sourced a local sim in Spain from a shop in Almerimar, it was a Digi mobile 200gb sim for €14 a month.

Very fast speeds as well 👍

Reglo sim is French I believe. The only reason I would need high data is to stream UK TV. So a local sim is of no use to me personally but thanks for the info.

Just studied ID website and roaming limit is 30GB per month. Tempted, but Smarty allows me to pause sim when I'm not using the motorhome. Currently ID are offering 200GB for £12.00 on a monthly rolling contract.

Smarty for me is a real let down. After 3 or 4 days in France they tell me I have used all my data. They did this last year. So I’ve used my iPhone to tether and in 2 weeks I’ve only used 12GB. Won’t be renewing my plan. I phone to complain and they say as a goodwill gesture they will give me 1GB free. No thanks.

RWG do have a 200Gb including EU at 200Gb but it is 60.00 per month, I think IQ mobile will do us for the time being when in EU.

It's actually 250gb a month I'm just looking at it now as I'm paying £14 a month to ee for 20gb .

So with Id is there any time limit on roaming ?

Can you be out the UK for 5/6 months a year and still get the 30gb?

Quite a few people buy a local PAYG simm.

Yep - done that before. One advantage of a UK one is being able to stream TV without the need for a VPN. (And not having the hassle of finding a good value local sim!)

Still using Popit, 100G a month for £25. Can use all in EU and candisable when not using van.

Forgot about Popit! Unusual that they still offer full allowance in EU. They are good if you want large usuage like that. Personally 30GB is more than enough for me when away (at home I use 2gb max!) Popit is not so competitive at lower amounts - £18 for 30gb and £13 for 10Gb - not great.

But can't stream UK TV without a VPN. Don't do social media so EU sim has nothing to offer for me.

VPN's do throttle the streaming speeds , but they are required unfortunately,, my current choice is NORD ,, but its not as wonderful as they claim ,,,

Another vote for Popit. £25 per month for 100gb in Europe. Then £1 per month on "pause" when not needed. Just done 10 days in France and it worked well in all locations we used.

But is that every month or do they require you use it in the UK within a 3 month period like lebara etc. I'm normally out the UK 5/6 months in a row.
That's what I would like to know also. Similarly, I spend longer than three months away.

Been using IQ for past 2 weeks in France. No problems with it & streaming uk channels ok.

iq without a doubt and for the people interested in price if you use top cashback for iq. its 42%. so it costs 11.40 for 100gb nothing touches that not even local sims and when you consider iq covers 27 countries inc switzerland !! many others do not.
