DAMP FROM DAY ONE

Mike,
Yes, you're right. I was only considering the main body panels which are invariably composite panels. It would be tricky to use that sort of construction in an overcab dome I guess.

So your Hymor is only 1 year old and the dealer ignores the problem does not make sense.
Have you had a run in with them prior to this
Not that it should make any difference.

you must go down the legal route in writing pretty soon , was it a uk dealer ?

I have no idea what warranty Hymer give ?, but its the dealer who you paid your money to whom you have a legal contract with, and its up to them to resolve ,
I too can't understand why they won't help you ? unless there is a back story?

So all the stains on the fabric covered walls in our pile of junk HYMER isn’t damaged ⚠??View attachment 330604View attachment 330605View attachment 330605
Sorry, I should have made it clearer that I was referring to structural damage, although I know that damp can look and feel awful. I have every sympathy with you. I would be interested to find out what is causing it as yours looks to be a similar model to my 2015 B678. What is your independent expert's opinion on the cause?

Also be interested to know who the dealer was. The good ones fight their customers cause with the makers; the bad ones tend to roll over.

Just about any company that makes anything should hold a reasonable stock of spares and waiting months for parts to arrive is incredibly bad business, but, some motorhome manufacturers seem to get away with it. Then there is the excuse that a motorhome is a complicated piece of equipment built by hand and faults can be expected.
i can’t think of another small volume business that would be happy to operate like this

We have a Laika and the factory would appear to have a spare parts dept that actually keeps stocks of parts. Southdowns don't seem to have any trouble at all with the factory. Laika have also agreed a couple of small repairs outside the guarantee period.

I had good service from Premier on my Hymer, including doing some work outside the guarantee period.

I can't believe any dealer worth their salt would refuse to deal with that magnitude of damage. On the basis of what we know, I can't see that they would have a leg to stand on. Or are they alleging that you are in some way responsible? Is this the supplying dealer? The very least they could do is a temporary repair whist they investigated, and a thorough clean of the staining.

Definitely no back story, in fact we have bought 2 other motorhomes from the same dealers without any problems, they were fine to start we thought but actually from handover there were a few items that were discovered.
Cut a long story short, after several failed attempts to supply simple items like screw caps and shower door seals , Alde heating problems, staff changes meant our warranty work was lost !
Sorted Alde at manufacturers, eventually got first batch of warranty work done at 14 months old , but more problems and they damaged my alloy wheel, 16 weeks later no joy and really hacked off at this stage.
Many phone calls to customer service trying to persuade them how serious the situation has become, I arranged an independent report which was at first at my expense but dealers have actually paid for that now , plan is for the dealers to purchase the vehicle back from us with help from the manufacturers (their suggested option)
I have also been told a new management software package for the dealers hasn’t helped but that’s not my problem !
But surprise surprise it’s going on for weeks again and me having to chase ⚠️?
Just want the thing gone now ☹️

When we say"damp" do we mean damp as in the air within the MH or damp within the construction materials? Quite a difference....

I think part of your problem might be that you are dealing with 'customer services'. In my experience, most of these departments are nothing to do with providing a service. Their primary role is to act as a gatekeeper, controlling access by aggrieved customers to the people who can actually make things happen, i.e. the directors.
I think you'd be better off, finding out the name of the M.D. and refusing to deal with anyone other than him/her.

I would find the email addresses of the sales manager and the CEO they have got to realise your not going away , I would visit a solicitor and take advise and let them know that’s what your next move is , and send copies to the CEO ,SERVICE MANAGER , SALES MANAGER
TheCEO Will probably not answer , if not send by snail mail , recorded delivery
Be very careful how you deal with this , once you have got their backs up they may be reluctant to help
So be firm but polite and respectful and hopefully they will start taking you seriously
Good luck and keep us posted

Hope you get it sorted they take back the van. Hymers are far from perfect but they aren't normally that bad.
