Current U.K. law on up plating has been changed WITHOUT consultation

But neither of those are the unladen weight.
Actual mass of the vehicle out of the factory, nothing added, bog standard from manufacturer. May be semantics but to me it's the unladen weight.

The fiat factory or the converter???

Fiat Ducato chassis delivered to Trigano, where they added the habitation module. The end product CoC states, Actual Mass of vehicle 2880Kgs. So I'm in the camp of under 3050Kgs.
Well I’m A class so they get the engine gearbox steering wheel and a few other things, so not very heavy🤣🤣🤣🤣 then it’s off to Carthago to have a bit more ballast fitted 👍😁😁

If it looks like a 3.5 t panel van then you’ll be fine. Don’t stick the Angles Mort stickers on it !

That's our trick ... we don't have them so unless they stop us they haven't a clue what weight our MH is and as we have a super lightweight Carthago Compactline we just continue on in 'stealth' mode! :giggle:

To finish this off, finally managed to get around to applying for the reduced VED of £165 pa. Paid by personal credit card so no surcharge. Tomorrow I will call DVLA to cancel the Direct Debit for the earlier £30.18 per month, £362.16 pa including surcharge for the Direct Debit. Should get a refund of £16.08 against the 6 payments paid so far. So a result.

In summary I did the application to uplate myself, providing the CofC, build records from Mercedes Benz for the tractor head and Knaus Tabbert for the MH bit. The only delay was the DVLA didn't change the F.1: Max. permissible mass to 4200 on the first revised V5, so I had to call and re-write to them.

The relevant lines on the V5 are now correct and shared for information purposes to assist others:

D.2: Type MOTOR/CARAVAN
D.5: Body type MOTOR CARAVAN
[X]: Taxation Class PRIVATE HGV
[Y]: Revenue weight 4200 KG GROSS
J: Vehicle category M1
F.1: Max permissible mass 4200
G: Mass in service 2955

I’m the same😉🤣🤣🤣🤣

but in the Uk it isn't.

the unladen weight as it left the factory would be the chassis cab delivered to Trigano. That is why it states "actual mass of vehicle 2880kgs" because it appears they can't change the unladen weight.

here in spain the UL remains the same for C & A class as the weight on leaving the factory.Whereas if you convert a van & homologate it they require a 'new' unladen weight as they did from me.

So your saying my very bloated, at nearly 3 tons fiat chassis cab, was delivered to trigano. Have a super, extremely lightweight habitation unit plus extras, for them to roll it out and call the weight as 2880Kgs. I don't think so, it's still semantics. On my CoC I have 2 figs Mass in running order and actual weight of vehicle, both are 2880 kgs and that is what the DVLA have put on my V5c in the mass in service along with M1 in vehicle category.

How could it be 3 tonnes delivered to trigano & come out less?
Even a 4250kgs chassis cab has an unladen weight of less than 2100kgs.
A chassis cab is just that , If you have an alko chassis then the "chassis cab" is delivered as a "cab " only & in may countries the unladen weight is of that alone. It is up to the converter when the alko chassis is added to show the unladen weight,if the state requires it, & then when finished there own "mass in Running Order " plate neither of which is legally the unladen weight.

Then the "chassis cab " cannot have been delivered to trigano weighing a 'bloated' 3 tonnes?

the unladen weight is as it left the factory & without fuel .Plus anything that does not require to be on the vehicle to be legal can be left off ,like wheel trims.
The mass in running order is the weight of the vehicle, in the case of a MH after it has been converted, ready to be used on the road.https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-weights-explained

Does all this matter. My vehicle is road legal and I can drive to to legal speed limit of road in the uk and abroad. I'm out of here
