Rally Chester Rally Easter 2016.

I gave tractor driver £10 thought it was worth every penny, also great weekend, Pat and I really enjoyed the cheese and wine evening.

Thanks to all who organised the rally.

John.

Well we made it off okay and moored up next to @funflair and when I returned to give a hand to others I was told what a spawny git I was for getting off unaided, so I am one of the few to scrape into the spawny gits club.

Interesting point though, all the spawny ones had rear wheel drive and kept the revs low and the gear as high as possible.

Nice to make the acquaintance of several of the RVOC team and nice to see so many attempt to tip the tractor driver whether successful or not
Welcome to the club neighbour.

Martin

Chester meet was a most enjoyable one our thanks to all who organised it
Carol and Eddie, Techno, and everyone else who helped out especially the tractor driver :)

We got towed off which was a 1st for us parked up against the railings on the hard standing thanks to Carol and Eddies organisation and advice, it's been a great 5 days rallying and we have really enjoyed it, met some fabulous people and made a new friend in Wendy.

Thanks for organising a very enjoyable event.

Liz

Out of interest, having escaped yesterday before what I thought might happen did, were you allowed or able to drive off forwards from where you were parked, I got off fairly easily, albeit before the worst of the rain, but I was slightly worried about the shunting bit I had to do to line up along the back of you lot, hope I didn't leave too deep a rut

Diff lock will be a serious contender for my next MH, did have a quick look at the 4 x 4 Hymer at TW last week, that would work, but don't like the look of it, too high off ground and quite a small MH

@Popeye has your Frankia got diff lock?
Hi @DavidG58

Reversed out and then put the diff lock in when the front wheels were pointing where we wanted to go as a diff lock tends to straight line the steering a bit.

I think the Mercs use a braking system via the ABS, or they used to, I yours should have it David.

Edit sorry should have said a system that brakes the wheel that looses traction so thereby sends power through the diff to the other wheel that would not get any drive with a totally unlocked diff.

Thanks to everyone for a great weekend, pity about the rain and soggy ground at the entrance requiring the tractor to pull almost everyone out. A great weekend nonetheless .

Jim and lyn

Big thank you to Carol and Eddie for the organisation, Sian, Jim and crew for the bacon butties, Toledo Dave for the music and Karaoke. Great night last night.
Got off without assistance, watched the RWD guys and copied them, reversed off(y)

Thanks to those involved with organising a great rally what a fantastic venue and city Chester is. I am a little embarrassed to say I didnt reely meet anyone or pop into the marquee but still enjoyed ourselves. Promise to rectifty this at our next Rally we attend which I am about to look into.

Well crappy front wheel drive on wet grass no mats no chains no diff lock I didnt stand a chance getting out so popped in my tow hook checked area around me. Jumped in van popped into reverse straight back into 2nd gear and straight out on tickover happy days,to be fair I didnt have to far to go for solid ground though. Journey home was a joy no troubles no hassle or hold ups and about half the time of getting there in poxy traffic and horrid rain.

So all in all great 1st rally for us well worth the effort see you sometime soon THANKS

Just got back after a fantastic first meet at Chester! A very big thankyou to @Carol and Eddie and Jim ( the boss ) and Sian for organising it and being a great rally neighbour and showing us the ropes! Everyone made us very welcome and we enjoyed the fun tent shenanagins! Quiz cheese and wine and kareoke nights were such s laugh! Great singing by all!!
Lovely to meet all you Funsters who post on line so now we are real friends and not just virtual friends!! See you all at the next one if not before!!:hugs:

We drove off the pitch, no problems at all, being a Rapido, we enjoyed the show, shame about some of the riff raff that were allowed to enter the food Festival. Yes you know who you are, all those bleeding German vans, drinking to all hours and making a show of the rest of us decent funsters, enjoying a small gass of dry sherry and some organic canapes.

On a serious note, I did meet a fair few Funsters and on the whole they are a decent bunch, and I shall name a few @Terry as always a star and one day he will get up and sing, I suggest 'Born to be Wild" @Brendan and his talking parrot, the man is spot on... @Popeye , I have to feel for his lovrly wife, Griff, you are a star..
@swanseajack13 what can I say boyo? Cwm Deri here we come...
@Carol love her to bits, a a good snogger..
@movan What can I say.

I really enojyed the weekend and look forward to the next one, once the alcohol levels have decreased in my system, no thanks to @ukbill that man should carry a health warning...

On a very serious note, love it all and I even managed to get the odd cake or two and @The Happy Hooker never spotted them..

So many funsters have a heart of gold and once you get past the initial shock  they are the salt of the earth...

Go for it @ukbill

What a great weekend. A sunny start and a wet finish but plenty of fun in the middle. The quiz was very enjoyable (Nice one Gerri) and by setting the marquee out like a wedding feast we got everyone in. It was so toasty in there we had to turn the heating off.

The Easter bonnet and cake competition was fun (and tasty) as was Saturday's evenings cheese and wine. We cooked 600 rashers of bacon on Sunday morning, and lots returned later to have a crack on the Karaoke and what a great night that was.

Last night the torrential rain ensured that most people needed a tow off the field, I didn't (insert smug smiley here)

Big thanks to Carol and Eddie, Nikki and Haggars for the marshalling, to Dave and polly for extra help they gave throughout. Also the small army of bacon fryers and servers who I dare not name for fear of forgetting someone.. Thank you all, without you it wouldn't be fun. We loved every minute (y) Some photos to follow. :)

We raised £283.60 for Myaware.org We had some quiz money donated, we had individual donations, but the bulk of the money was raised by Techno, Andy and Jacs with their DVD Sales. Thank you very much Me and Siân rounded the total up to £350 and you can see the donation I've just made today here.

Had a brilliant time with some lovely people. Thanks so much to all the hard-working organisers. I've put some pics on the media section from last night's karaoke. Special thanks to @Hyacinth 1 (Liz & Steve) for letting me tag on to them each night and @Gosport Tim for wiring up my solar panel. Pity we couldn't actually attach it to the very well hidden battery! Will be sorted for Peterborough where I hope to see many of you again. x

Chester - Thank you to the gent who loaned us a power hook up cable - as we came home early we left the cable with Jim in the marquee. Thank you Jim for this. Also thank you to those who helped push us out of the mud as we left. We did get home in one piece.

I had a great first rally, meet some lovely people and thought Chester was very nice. Thanks to all the organisers and the warm welcome given, I will look forward to doing it again.

Mike

Press ganged!!

You were leading the line up to town when I looked out the window!

Thanks @Carol and your faithful band of helpers for all the hard work involved in providing a great weekend.......unfortunately I wasn't fit to join in much due to a stinking cold however I did meet some new funsters from Oldham at the quiz on Friday evening and another couple on Sunday who very kindly charged my phone up for me! I really enjoyed the Karaoke last night (from inside my van ) particularly the rendition of walk 500 miles. (y).

We all enjoyed @lorger and @JockandRita rendition!! Excellent !! Could you make a new version of" I can cook 600 rashers and I can cook 600 more!" to that tune Jock and Gerri for next year?!;)
Forgot to mention @panda Ann and Mick for inviting us to the jazz club and what fantastic dancers Ann and Joy are!!

Thanks to Carol & Eddie, Jim & Sian for the organisation. Buttie brigade for my breakfeast. Dave Toledo for the Karaoke. Also to all the other funsters who made this a great weekend. Till the next one.:)

A big thanks to Carol and Eddie, Jim and Sian, Haganap, Techno and the bacon buttie team. You all done a marvellous job in making it a great rally. Thanks to @Terry for having our dinner all cooked and ready on our arrival. it was much appreciated!

Glad we made the journey down even though I was tired and it was a long one home. Was good to meet up with old friends and put another few faces to names/chatters.. though I must admit Popeye and Shiftzz were nothing like what I expected them to be. They come across as oldies but don't let them kid you , they are far from it!

Thank you very much to everyone for another fab rally at chester. A lot of hard work had obviously gone into the organising especially
Carol & Eddie and Jim & Sian . Sorry we wernt at a lot of the marquee bits but had the lergy and thought it best not to pass it on as it was a perticually bad one. Promiss to be more social next time.
Hubby almost got off the field but got stuck at last bit. I drove off in my car no probs lol. Eaten some of half price topside beef now and van unpacked. Next camp is france cant wait. Paul has a project now to fit exhaust extention onto Ela before france.
