Carthago weight issue’s

Not quite correct, the left hand stage 1 plate is the original Fiat one, the right hand one stage 2 is they Alko chassis upgrade one.
As has been already mentioned there will be a Carthago one (stage 3), which will show the weight the van was supplied from the converter to the original first registration order at the requested registration weight, which it would appear in this case to have been 3500Kgs. The registration details used will be on the original CoC.
As many have said before (and more in the future will) a quality built 7.4 metre van at 3500 Kg is in no way a useable one and be legal.
I might be missing something here but there is no stage 3 Carthago plate on my Carthago, just the original Fiat and alko and of course the new updated plate.

Can you show me a stage 3 plate alongside an AlKO one as I've never seen one, cheers
I have 3 on my Hymer B678. The Fiat and Alko plates are fixed on the crossbeam under the bonnet. The Hymer plate is fixed on the UK offside aluminium skirt just behind the rear wheel.

Unfortunately my current van is not on an Alko chassis extension, I have previously owned two Frankia and one Pilote with three plates showing as I described earlier.

With Carthago the 3rd plate is a stick on one, usually placed on the door shut, apparently often not fitted by the suppling dealer.

Should be as that is the only one that counts the others are meaningless. Normally in the drivers foot well on Carthago's.

We went to Lidl today to stock up for the next 2 days and the wife come out with a trolley full of water, juice and wine. Overweight? Don't ask🙂
 
I've quickly read this thread and can probably help a bit!

We have a Fiat front and Alko rear chassis and 2 plates, the first is the Fiat one, the second the Alko one, there isn't a Carthago one anywhere however we do have the COC which trumps the others in respect of weights for our vehicle, excert below:

You'll note that the MAM is 3700kg rather than 3500kg but that's because we specifically wanted it higher than 3500kg hence why the supplied COC was 3700kg otherwise it would have been 3500kg and registered at that (as it was the dealer cocked up as it should've been 3850kg but as Carthago wouldn't supply a COC for this - no technical reason just something they don't do for the smallest A-class - the dealer paid for SVTech to uprate it to 3850kg as per our purchase agreement.

Whilst we could have left it at this it would NOT have upped the actual axle capacities of 1850kg and 2000kg which wasn't any good to us as we wanted a greater capacity on the rear which is why we paid £2,000 to have semi-air fitted so we could increase the rear axle to 2240kg (the max possible). This means that although the combined axle weights are now 4090kg we cannot actually go above 3850kg absolute max, the only way we could get more is to put different springs on the front but as we don't need more capacity on the front axle there's nothing to be gained by doing this.

Jackd I suspect the original purchaser never thought about weight and Carthago supplied the standard COC with 3500kg on it so it was simply registered at the usual 3500kg regardless of what the plates stated, if only going to 3850kg then that should be a simple paper exercise, however to go to 3850kg and increase the axle capacity then semi-air suspension will be required along with suitable wheels/tyres if they are not already sufficient (fortunately ours were!).

Is the max possible 2240 on the rear because of the 114 pcd wheels as opposed to 130 pcd’s?

However, later in the year, wheels, tyres and air will be on the shopping list.
I believe if you are using SVTech they will do the required paperwork for you FOC when you do the latter items if it is done within a year of your original uprating ... might be worth checking if this is still the case otherwise you'll end up paying again so might want to bring the shopping list forward to avoid this.

AFAIK the max is 2240kg regardless so I'm assuming it's because it's on the light Alko chassis rather than the wheels as you can get wheels (and tyres) of various 'capacities' for each pcd size. Ours already had 16" alloys and tyres with the correct specification for the increased carrying capacity so it's not something I needed to change fortunately.

Forgot I had this shot, I'd taken it and sent to a prospective buyer to prove it was 3500 Kg registered.
You can clearly see that it is the stage 3 plate (STUFE 3)

My 2019 Carthago has a stage 3 plate in the passenger footwell (right hand drive) but you need to remove the small piece of carpet to see it properly.
 
I found our Carthago plate in with the paper work clipped to the C of C, dealer is supposed to attach it.

My plate is also with the paperwork given at at hand over. Until reading this thread never thought about the need to stick it on.

I noticed that this is a stage 2 plate. Are you not on an ALKO chassis?
Fiat F40 chassis uprated to 4500kg could uprate further but would need to change fiat alloys.
