Carthago weight issue’s

What we're your axle weights?
If on the limit on the rear you might not gain anything unless you add semi air to the rear approx £2k if 15" wheels tyres will need changing, 16" should be OK, then you can go to 2240kg on the rear.
On the weighbridge at work Lenny HB i only got the total weight, so unfortunately I can’t answer that question at the moment.
I will have to follow this up and look a little closer. Still getting over the shock at the moment

I know that feeling - drove my current van home looked at the plate at the petrol station 4.1t what on a mwb transit minibus!! Help I'm illegal! Svtech on the double!!

Go for 225 75 16 tyres and have a better ride to make you feel better!!

Have you included passengers in your gross weight - that could be an additional 350kg if you were on your weigh to WW'ers meeting?

How Much!
The two of us weigh in at 120 kg and we are both overweight a bit.

An update.
I emailed van weight engineering with photos of the plates etc, and the upshot is

“We can get to 3850 kg with no physical changes, cost £260 + vat.”

So guess what’s happening next week when I get a chance. (y)

That is the same price as SV Tech, they were half the price.

I wouldn't go ahead until you get a weight on the rear axle, if the rear axle is near the limit you won't gain any useable payload.

Oh dear oh dear🤯🤯🤯🤯

Was it that bad?
I suppose it could have been worse, 100kg over on the Rear axle but I did have the full 170ltrs of water on board!
500kg spare on the front (although Val wasn’t in it and she’s around 70kgs)
4680kg gross

So maybe a bit more fine tuning although I’d run with that and if stopped I’d just let the water go👍😁😁

Will you be in when you have uprated it?
Assuming you are putting the rear axle up to 2700kg.

I was in on the weigh in, it was at work so really it was just Val and the dog that was missing.
Yes the rear is 2700 (weighed in at 2800kgs)

Yes the stage 2 plate is from the converter Carthago, to give you the weight. 3850. this is the weight that should be on your logbook.
Not quite correct, the left hand stage 1 plate is the original Fiat one, the right hand one stage 2 is they Alko chassis upgrade one.
As has been already mentioned there will be a Carthago one (stage 3), which will show the weight the van was supplied from the converter to the original first registration order at the requested registration weight, which it would appear in this case to have been 3500Kgs. The registration details used will be on the original CoC.
As many have said before (and more in the future will) a quality built 7.4 metre van at 3500 Kg is in no way a useable one and be legal.

Can you show me a stage 3 plate alongside an AlKO one as I've never seen one, cheers

Guys, there is another possible factor to note :- that is the manufacturers weight limit for the "garage" . Our Hymer Exsis I says 350 Kg . Westy66 you look to be a bit over ?.

Be aware of the axle weight if you load a garage to it's limit. We had a guy here with a garage rated to 250kg, but 60kg put his axle on the limit

The garage is fine, it’s the 170ltr water tank over the rear axle that’s the problem:whistle2:
