Caravan Club check-in times

Yep, just imagine............

"Good afternoon.... Manchester United supporters enquiries here. How can I help you?"

"Err, yes, I'm coming to the match tomorrow. What time is kick-off?"

"Ummm......what time can you get here?"
Glad to see we’ve moved on from Campsites being compared to Supermarkets . The campsite Vs Football match is a much better analogy.

You are getting a service but like a lot of places they close for a lunch break, just like shops and pubs used to. I am sure you have a lunch break.
At the end of the day if you don’t think they should have a lunch break and because they do you can’t have it all your way then I am sure there is another campsite out there for you.
Or another club and I believe membership figures are showing exactly that. The overall membership has risen but the term of membership has fallen significantly which is concerning the club greatly. If the current trend to have motorhomes and caravans drops off, which I suspect it shall the loyal member base the club used to have will no longer be there. This was the conversation I was having with one of the Executive Committee (or something like that) member on a site a few weeks back.

As it's the C&CC that has THS's, of which you speak of in an earlier post, why would one changed to a club that also does not allow check-in until 13.00hrs?

I realised today that I had made a mistake on a booking this weekend.for C&MC Tewkesbury Site, booking three nights starting one day earlier than I had intended.

A phone call this morning was answered by a cheerful Warden who promptly changed the booking for us in a couple of minutes. No problem at all.

In addition she confirmed that check-in time for Tewkesbury is still 12 noon, not 1pm. She also told me that Tewkesbury and Broadway are the only two Club sites with a 12 noon check-in. All the others are 1pm.

The last couple of CMC sites we went to it was 1pm check in which was fine by us.

The check in time was on the booking confirmation - but we booked almost last minute.

One advantage of turning up an hour early is getting one of the best pitches on the site. So good in fact that I have just extended my stay by a couple of nights 😀

Only been Motorhoming for a year and have always worked on after lunchtime for access . so usually plan a trip where i need a vechile to goto as i park up once on site

In my experience, the wardens need a gap between departures and arrivals to mow the grass around the pitch. I have watched them dashing between the vacated pitches to get it done. No one wants them mowing around your chairs and table!
It doesn’t help when somepeople leave it until 12:30/ 12:45 to vacate their pitch.

I have just been caught out by arriving at Wirral Country Park Caravan Club site at the usual check-in time of 12 noon. Except it has now changed to 1pm.

The warden says this is being rolled out across all the sites in the near future.

(Please don’t turn this into a ‘we hate the caravan club/UK/sites in general’ thread. Some of us are actually happy with what they offer!)
We’ve just come back from sea view in Berwick.Beautiful site & walk into Whitby.Check in 1pm checkout 12am.They shut the gate & put a notice on no arrivals before 1pm.Car park on the sea front. As we where leaving there was a caravan turn up & park on grass verge outside. He was fuming said I need the loo.I said it’s key only & we’ve just posted ours through letter box.B……Hell will have to use loo in van then.Omg some people 🤦‍♀️

The one outstanding thing I learnt in all the years I had my Coach Company, however good, helpful and reliable one is,
'you will never please all of the people, all of the time'

It's also the complainers that shout loudest!
Rarely the pleased & happy.

Thank goodness I'm now retired.

A lot of CMHC sites have single track approaches so therefore all out by 12 and in from 1pm common sense really no probs

'Common sense' is a rare commodity these days, there always one (and normally they cannot reverse especially if a tugger)!

Arrived at Chester Oaks on Monday and they had a sign in reception saying we have changed to 1pm but not a problem if you arrive at 12.
Got instructed on parking next to the peg, then said the guy next to you has parked on the wrong side but as he's next to the road I have left him there.

Oh do give over! 1 hour difference, does it really affect everyone’s lives so drastically.
Probably gives the wardens a well deserved 1 hr break from all the moaners, though - or time to eat a sandwich!

It matters not one jot! I was merely making CC members aware of a change in policy that I for one had missed.

I don't have an issue with a 1pm time but in March the email from CAMC sent to remind us of our booking said 12pm but when we got there the wardens said it was 1pm. Not fair on the wardens who then had to handle an irritated queue of people waiting for nearly an hour.

Presumably since you had an email stating the check in was 12pm, you were allowed in ?

so its not a full day now is the price being reduced by 1/24
It's the same as hotels work.
You have a check-in time and a check-out time. If you only stay for one night you don't get a 24 hour stay.

I hope that you remembered to change your clocks 🤪 :giggler:

Funny you should say that - my van clock has been wrong by 5 hours and 43 minutes for a couple of years. I only notice when I am driving and can’t change it 😂
You've had your van over the 'pond' then? Respect to you (y)
