Caravan Club check-in times

Another reason to cancel my 26 year membership. We used to use the Caravan Club a lot, almost 5 months a year. It has now got to the stage where we are overseas more and tend to use THS. Not much point staying really.

Does it matter ? If you know your arriving too early park up chill out have lunch and a cup of tea. If you arrive early and can’t get in…..have lunch and a cup of tea ☕️ the world will carry on spinning

Most of the french sites have a 14:00 check in, but then they do have 2 hours for lunch🤣
We tried to stay at the campsite at Loche, France, about three weeks ago.

We arrived at 1210hrs to find reception closed between 1200 and 1500 hrs. A three hour lunch break. We just drove on.

In my experience, the wardens need a gap between departures and arrivals to mow the grass around the pitch. I have watched them dashing between the vacated pitches to get it done. No one wants them mowing around your chairs and table!

Could have had lunch a cup of tea an afternoon nap and have been fully refreshed to meet the warden.

I'm guilty of winding tuggers up on the Camc chat everytime this comes up, it's a gripe I have that if you go to a camc site most of the day has gone because of the 1pm arrivals. We much prefer a 12 midday check in but its seems the caravaners can't manage to be offsite by 11am as it takes too long to take the awning down etc etc etc so we have to have the 1 o clock check in.
Another response from a warden was they can't do 12 check in as he wouldn't get to spend his lunch with his wife.
I can't think of another industry that this would be acceptable as an excuse.
Still use club sites though.

Why?

So the wardens aren't entitled to a lunch break?
Still a considerable number of businesses close for lunch.

Yes we are all allowed to have our breaks during a working day but there's always the option of staggering them so as not to inconvenience there customers

And missed three hours of sight-seeing!;)

We didn’t want to unload our scooter outside the site.

(and ctc)

I've been on commercial sites when the check out time is 10am and the tuggers on site manage that ok.
I always thought it was 1pm check in for CMC but to be fair I have never been queued up outside waiting to get in as I normally go elsewhere en route

Nor many industries where the worker lives on site, be on call 24hrs a day for Emergencies and still be expected to be genial ALL the time!

You are talking about a difference of ONE HOUR, does that 60mins really make that much difference to your life??

It wouldn't be possible to stagger a lunch hour there would be no peace and customers turning up all the time. Better to close and have a stated opening time.

Exactly

The obvious answer is to book and pay for a pitch, starting the day before you are going to arrive, then ring the site, on that day and say, "Sorry, we have been delayed, what is the pitch number because we will definitely be arriving the next morning about 11.00hrs."
It's your pitch, you have paid for it, what can they do?

It will only cost you an extra days fee!
You can't 'return' before you 'arrive' & if you should have 'arrived ' the day before until you do 'arrive ', after 1pm, you can't 'return early?:restmycase:

I always struggle now when in the Uk with shops that shut at 5pm?? o_O:unsure:

I have just been caught out by arriving at Wirral Country Park Caravan Club site at the usual check-in time of 12 noon. Except it has now changed to 1pm.

The warden says this is being rolled out across all the sites in the near future.

(Please don’t turn this into a ‘we hate the caravan club/UK/sites in general’ thread. Some of us are actually happy with what they offer!)
Someone didn'cread their "A helpful reminder about your trip" email or check the "Before your travel" web pages which are supposedly updated dialy with information about site operations.
ezee

Just back from Moreton in Marsh CAMC and we arrived early but I simply pulled in, let them know I was happy not to be let in if its inconvenient and to point me to somewhere handy to park up, which is exactly what happened, they direced us to a lovely garden centre only a mile up the road and we had a nice lunch. Don't see the problem.

..............Yes Doctor, he's been working out in the sun again! You must have something in that bag for sun-stoke?

I’m guessing that they are cutting down on staff so they have less flexibility at busy times/lunch time.
The logic behind the decision, or so I've been told by a number of wardens on our current trip, is by having a standardised arrival time (currently still work in progress) will make it simpler for tuggers and chuggers who don't read their booking and subsequent emails!:whistle2:

Reading all these post makes me laugh why so many peaple think the world revolves around them and they should have exactly what they want when they want it, unless it’s the other way round then they shut up. (y)

Errrmm because we are paying for a service?

You are getting a service but like a lot of places they close for a lunch break, just like shops and pubs used to. I am sure you have a lunch break.
At the end of the day if you don’t think they should have a lunch break and because they do you can’t have it all your way then I am sure there is another campsite out there for you.

Methinks there is a bit of mockery here 😉

Imagine an organisation that was flexible with its customers .
“ Good afternoon and welcome , just to let you know ,the checking in times have changed and are now 1pm . Please make sure you remember this for the next booking.”
I find it extremely cringeworthy that the wardens turned people away, presumably in some cases the customers would have had to follow the one way system around the camp site ( driving past the empty pitches) to get back out 😬.
Sorry Janine , they just wind me up with the zero flexibility 😂😂

Yep, just imagine............

"Good afternoon.... Manchester United supporters enquiries here. How can I help you?"

"Err, yes, I'm coming to the match tomorrow. What time is kick-off?"

"Ummm......what time can you get here?"
