Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but couldn’t see it. This is specific to CMC.

Considering we are joining a club for what should be reduced prices (and high standard facilities) , is there any justification to charging £55 for one night (6m campervan) on one of their campsites (Chatsworth House) . Just on my way back from Spain and France and I have decided I won’t be paying anything like these prices in the UK. Withdrawing my club membership as soon as it up for renewal.

Stopped my membership long ago but would certainly not pay that for one of their sites to be regimented with no useful facilities (never use site bogs/showers), I gather even the wifi is not free.
Many free aires in France are nicer than some of their sites and no warders.

We don't really use any of their sites, poss a couple a year, but hoping the discounts the club can offer you may justify the £55. Only time will tell

Im still a member of CAMC though rarely use their sites to be fair, CLs occasionally but have used the discounts quite a bit to be fair. I'll continue membership for that convenience.

Prices? Well there's always the argument about cost and the same about everything being cheaper on the continent, but it's a long way to go for cheaper sites. But I do agree some of the CAMC / CC sites are very expensive but they usually command a premium if they are near somewhere specific so if its somewhere you want to be then you pay your money or you don't.
Same as paying £15 to overnight in a car park, but if that car park is somewhere convenient and serves a purpose then I don't have a problem.

Chatsworth is a ok site, but at that price a non starter, last time at Chatsworth the crows never stopped from first light to night.

We perhaps use a couple or three sites a year and only for a stopover because it is handy for emptying the black tank which is why we keep the membership. Same with CCC - useful for calling in for emptying and filling water for a small charge

Out of interest what dates were you looking at , I was looking to meet some friends there next weekend

The prices are high, but not as high as quoted in thread 🤔

Have you read the non member rates maybe

Spot on that's why so many of us cross each year

I have recouped this year's membership from a Club discounted return ferry ticket.

Meanwhile I will be choosy about the Club sites to book. Only low season pitch fees, usually midweek and avoiding weekends. Independent sites as well, now that the no-deposit USP has gone and the Club's booking software is a pain to use. The management has cocked things up big time. The Club's next set of Accounts for the year following the booking system changeover will be interesting.

Not true. Check out availability for July and August. These were member rates.

We live around 20 mins from there and often go walking around the estate, and that site, no matter what time of year, is always full to the rafters!
We had a wonder through once, and the pitches seem a bit squished together plus, there's no real aspect that they look on to (you can't see the estate for the great big wall that surrounds the site and soaring great trees)

Absolutely correct. We stayed last year for a couple of nights, never again. No view other than other vans .

We've not renewed either clubs this year because we did a three month tour over here and used both clubs only twice.

I recently booked a return ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe for the end of June. CAMC wanted £200 more than direct with DFDS. I emailed CAMC to ask why they were so much dearer and that I would not be renewing my membership, and their reply was I should have called them and they would have price matched!

Chatsworth is probably our favourite CMC site , we love it there .
The pitches are most definitely not squished together and the walls are there because the site is on the site of the old Chatsworth walled garden 💡.
As regards the crows they were probably there before campers so have first dibs I reckon , nature eh , so inconvenient . 🤣
Was there at Easter and had a most splendid time .

What sort of discounts do they offer on ferry crossings? Ta

I have saved close to 50% on crossings from Hull compared to booking direct 👍

You can easily do price checks via CMC web site

I’m into 10 days in France and I’ve spent less then two nights then it cost there and that includes the ferry….:france::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Been a member of the C&CC for nearly 40 years and can count on one hand the number of club sites I've stayed on, only use CSs rallies and THSs and was on the committee of my local D.A. There was an eye opener HQ saw us as an inconvenience, but I save more than my membership fees

We are in Eire atm and are finding it difficult at times to find places to stop on theWAW called in late at one site and they charged €40! All facilities, some sites are closed as season doesn’t start till end of May, last night we ended up on a site that charged €34 plus €10 for ehu ,€5 per dog and also charged for use of showers and for dish washing facilities!!!
