Hi all, we are travelling down through France early in the new year and looking for stop overs. Has any one used Camping Car Parks and what is your opinion using for overnight stops? I believe pay £5 account set up, put credit on your account and book sites on line - does this work ok? Looks good to me as they have lots of all year sites and you have the confidence of booking sites ahead. I might be over worrying but we are traveling will be out of season. Thanks

check the current specs of both .. wouldn't be surprised it they draw more than 6A combined

info on data plates or user manuals
Ok great thanks I will take a look, I wondered if that could be the case as its a nearly new van and we do have a big fridge and we are fine on 10amp EHU and above, but I thought surely they would not be installing 6amp ehu in all the new CCP sites if that's not sufficient for modern day vans. Our solar is excellent so we don't really need it too regularly, but its just I think as i have 'paid' for it I want to make use of it!

I bought something like this to measure all the 'appliances' used in the moho when on EHU, made a list so no more tripping on 6amp.

6A is fairly standard in France for an EHU .. occasionally 10 or16A but not came across many.

bear in mind due to licence restrictions, the majority of French registered motorhomes are sub 3,500kg .. so don't generally have big fridges and a lot of 220v appliances

With that in mind..
I would heat the water on gas as required for morning/evening showers, doesn't take long on gas .. and use the EHU for your fridge will use quite a lot of gas.. how much will also be in the specs.

That's interesting as we seem to trip the fuse on the 6A hook up's and only have fridge and hot water on...I think we established it must be hot water as although lasted longer when we tested it by switching fridge to gas, it still tripped eventually and that was overnight with no lights or sockets in use! On last site before heading to Calais we didnt bother hooking up! I have asked them to look at it when it goes in for its first service and habitation check next month to see if can find any faults as thought it was just ours.
What about your battery charger, was that turned off as well?

On European sites they normally expect you to only use EHU for fridge & battery charging . Apart from the larger vans with Alde heating which will have mains heating, most vans will have Trma Combi's which will be gas only. We have had 3 German vans heating & water has always been gas only, electric is only fitted for the UK market.

Electric on a Combi will draw either 4.1 amps or 8.2 amps at 220v depending on the setting, more if volts are low. Large fridge freezer about 1.1 amps, battery charger approx 1 amp.

We only have a problem when the heating is on and then someone forgets it's 6amps and proceeds to put the kettle on.
When we hook up at the moment, we put fridge on electric (large one), and heating to 17 or 18 degrees. Anything else it will trip. Told it's 6amp cause it's only intended to recharge your batteries, not for UK electric use of MHs. We also switch the heating off for an HR to recharge the power bank as and when.

Only had one problem hook ups and that was the other week I plugged a small heater in and it ran for about five minutes before it tripped. I visited five of their sites this autumn and only one let me down

We recently used the CCP village site at Taugon (Charente Maritime) and the hook up was at least 16 amp, if not 30. Wish I had taken a photo of the sign. New site adopted 18 months ago, so presumably uprated facilities.

This one ?

it looks like it was an old Municipal site ..

some of the Municipal sites did have higher amperages.... but the information on the CCP listing is 6A

Yes that's the one. It was apparently part of the sports field previously. I know the CCP site says 6 amp, but the panel at the gate said more. As I said, I think it was 30amp. Google street view shows the electrical installation being done mid 2022.

Just for clarity, CCP do not own any sites. They manage in partnership with the owners and instal their equipment. CCP seem to be unable to make their partner take action on rule breakers if they can’t be bothered. The partner is generally the local Mayor. CCP pass an agreed percentage to their partners.

They don't set the price either.

We used a few this year for the rugby, and found those to all be good. Best one had showers and toilets, which was fab.
I wouldn't bother with the privileges as they don't use the funds on your card to book, you pay separately by card. If I'd known that before I put lots of money on, I'd have put much less. They remind you that it's there forever, but it might be a while before we're back in France.
Other than that, aye with others - order before you go... and check the app so you have enough to leave the site!!!

According to our CCP account we used 28 of their sites during our last French tour. All were very good and all were different. We have been members for years and never had cause to complain, especially as their customer service is 24/7 and brilliant.

Somebody did enforce some rule breakers when we stayed at the Station Nautique, Lac du Der this year. First was a twin axle caravan that came in and started to set up as we went out cycling. When we returned they were being escorted out by some bod in a small van.
That evening two VW vans came in and spread out across adjacent pitches and proceeded to start an open fire in the space between. A couple of French van owners went over for a few words, were ignored, and the same van and driver returned shortly after, this time with a gendarme in tow, and threw them off. So sometimes it must work.

It was enough to run the air conditioning on our last van. Along with fridge and charger

Used Camping Car Parks for the first time in January this year. Everything was excellent, especially for one night stops. Secure and modern facilities. I will be using them again this coming January.

Agree with above comments, good value and you can rely on services being clean and working. I'm pretty sure the water is always on too even in winter.
Others may be able to confirm as I've only used them May to October
No we turned up November all water was off toilets and showers were closed about 4 vans and trailers were there Gypsies dogs on chains it was our first time with ccp so had gone thru the barrier paid 18 eu. 5 for the card from the machine and 13 for the site we weren't impressed I phone them up they were quite nice on the phone but we left within 20mins so lost our site money

As far as I'm aware none of their sites have facilities open outside of the main season and then only the Mon Village sites. Also, if you left within 20 mins you should only have been charged the service stop rate, about 5-7 euro any excess should have been credited to you account or not charged in the first place. Which site was it?

In my experience they are very fair. We stopped a couple of nights on the Caen site. One night the whole area, site include, lost power. They phoned everyone on site who had an account and told us the power would be off until the next day and did not charge for that night.

I think (unless there's a problem) services are available all year.

Services yes, but not toilets and showers etc. Just a service point for fresh water, black and grey waste disposal, plus bins for household hard waste. It's all very clear on their website.

Which site is this please ?
You will only have been charged 5 euro, plus card, for the 5 hours service rate.
I'd recommend trying another site if you can, I've been very happy with all the ones I've been too.
Surprised to hear about gypsies, they usually find somewhere for free.

Interesting thread for me . Apart from minor , detailed , criticisms vast majority love CCP .
On other motorhome forums many , like myself, have real concerns about what this company are doing to the Aires network in France.

Ditto.

I think many who like CCP are people who like campsites and find CCP cheaper.

There are those of us who prefer Aires, so see CCP and the other companies taking over management as a retrograde step.

Fortunately I think these companies are not interested in Aires with only room for a small number of MHs, as too expensive to install the infrastructure, so hopefully enough of those will survive the commercialisation.

That makes sense .
Recently joined this site , getting impression demographic is more campsite focused
