That’s the 2nd time I’ve heard of that happening - the last one was a Geist Motorhome which I’m sure is also part of LMC

Frankly, I think he has seen you coming, and knows as you are in a different country, and the chances of any litigation being worth the money it would cost are close to nil.

I think you need to make the best of a bad job and get a professional opinion.

This is not a DIY job.
If you do a bodge fix as well, you are liable to find you leave the body on the side of the road somewhere.

To do the job properly, the body may need to be removed from the base and then refitted.

While I agree with what the others have said on a practical level if you get no redres
Get under the van and check bolts/fixings to chassis on Luton remove all the foam use a hack saw blade and a sharp scraper. Clean best you can. If you use Siroflex grip and grab adhesive between the Luton and roof ((masking tape and a wet finger to smooth it off) The rest of the bodywork may leave the chassis but the Luton bit will still be attached until it’s crushed

However, if it was a private sale as opposed to a dealer, you have almost zero rights.
Whilst it’s illegal to misrepresent, if you don’t ask the right questions, he/she doesn’t have to declare faults. It’s very much ‘caveat emptor’.
If, on the other hand, it was a trader/dealer, I’d be looking at my consumer rights regarding mis-selling…. That said, once I saw the expanding foam in the joint, i’d have run away, regardless of whether it was a ‘bargain’!

If your second-hand goods aren’t good enough, you could be entitled to a refund. But it depends on if you bought your items from a retailer or an individual.

Looks like a problem that has been bodged. seller must have known about it.

With a private sale a seller must declare known faults. I would demand your money back as it could cost thousands to repair properly. If seller doesn't play ball take it to small claims court.

To be fair, until the external fascia above the windscreen was removed, no one (seller or buyer) would have been able to see the expanding foam fix.

(By the sound of it, no one is suggesting the seller did the foam job, which looks like it was done quite a long time ago)

It looks like the foam was put in from the inside, so one would presume their is an internal fascia that also needs to be removed.

Yep,the same company o think, so you know how they sorted it maybe? Other than this it's in a very good condition for its age

Have you contacted the seller to reject it ?
If you believe them to be a trader operating as though they are a private seller is illegal, dropping this into the conversation when requesting a full refund may help things to work in your favour ?

That I'm going to report him to HMRC? I'll try whatever needed cause I feel like an idiot now. I'm out of the country for 2 weeks, told him that Im giving him 2 weeks to come up with a solution.

I'm not sure HMRC are the correct first step in reporting them. They're the tax office, and whilst there may be offences committed they'd by interested in investigating I think Trading Standards in NI should be your first port of call if you can't get the seller to agree to a full refund.
Don't feel like an idiot, not your fault, you've been had by a rogue trader by the sounds of it and it could happen to anybody.
